Look , The thing you guys need to keep in mind is this there is 100k difference between what i am saying should be the limit and what it is being said that Dusty is asking
$500k v $600k = $100k = $60k after tax

Players dont leave to get 10% more from another club , They will remain at their current club

Gee i would love to play poker with you lot --------- Dont fall for this bluff

haha good one mate, dont play poker with deisel williams tho, he would have stayed at geelong if the cats gave him the xtra $5000 he was asking, and he wasnt a prick about it either coz he knew he was still giving gr8 value to the cats considering the other offers and he knew the pussies could afford it but the cats said 'no' and hurt his feelings so greg walked and the rest is history.

$5000 those days was a 50% increase to what he was on, Not 10% lol

How can we blame Dusty for asking 600k and maybe signing for 550k.

Cotchin talks about the team but he takes the most a 2 (that's right 2 years so he can rip us a new a-hole when he is at prime age) year contract worth over 600k...
Riewoldt talks about taking pay cuts to stay and how he loves the club 600k+...
Deledio is on 600k for 5 years.... Can't even break a tag..

They could all be considered over payed because there are many players with more runs on the board getting paid 350-500k.... however we don't say anything..

BUT when Dusty asks a high price and gets talked down (standard negotiation technique) and we get upset because we might be paying him 550k and we think its too much.

Out of the lot he has been our best this year (if not best at the club). This year! The year we could potentially go 16-6 and are playing in our first finals since 2001. He is only young and he is worth every penny because he could be the best player in the league.

Maybe we should start looking at how we are paying our other players before we start having a go at Martin.

People are panicking for no reason. We are not close to the cap we are trying to leave ourselves room to sign players.

600k is not what it was 3 or 4 years ago the cap has increased by about 2 million since then. Next year it will be over 10 million plus 800k or so for additional service agreement makes it about 11 million. Some of Cotchin and Jack's deal will come under the ASA and probably Deledio. I would suggest newman and Jackson who host there weekly roar vision get a bit of money that way too.

Deledio signed for 3 mill over 5 years but its been front loaded, i'd suggest so that he gets 750k last year and this year and gets the last 1.5mill over 3 years. So next year he will take up 500k of the salary cap and the last 2 years he will take up 400k as he qualifies for the vets list.

So the top 4 boys probably take in over 2mill of the salary cap leaving 9 million between 34 players, take out about 8 players on average on draftee contracts 2 an average of 100k (way overestimating) leaves you with 8.2 mill between 26 players which is about 320k each. Of course guys like Astbury, Griffiths, Elton, Ellis, a edwards(if he plays on), Knights, grigg(300k over 4 years yeah?), Arnot, Batchelor, Dea, Helbig, Maric, McGuane, O'Hanlon, White and possibly one or two others are going to be under that average and in some cases well under. So if your being generous and average 250k each leaves you with 4.7 million between 12 players which is almost 400k each. Then of course Newman, Tuck, Jackson and foley are all veterans and therefore can be paid 100k outside the cap.

I don't think the cap squeeze is quite there yet.

the cap is tightish, only because we are pre-paying salaries now so we have more cap space in the future. it's all good bros

Read on PRE that Gary March spoke at a function this morning and said Dusty will re-sign shortly. Loves the club, should sign in the next week or so.

Conca to re-sign shortly also.

Pleeease be true! Is it trustworthy sauce?

My phone is saying you posted this in 1970 so sorry but how could you possibly know what is going to happen forty years from then?

Also GM apparently said Grimes is fitter than he's ever been, the foot injury resulted from a bit of mismanagement of turf toe he had in the Freo game. Not sure if that was our med staff's fault or Dylan's for not communicating the issue properly.

Also we've nearly 'outgrown' our new facilities, got plans in place for another $1m expansion which we should be able to afford comfortably.

Reckon they will announce it leading into the finals. Would be a good morale booster for the players, coaches and supporters heading into such a big game. Hopefully Conca is announced as well

just on the lids and the 3 mil deal my understanding is it is UP to 3 mil so maybe its perfect for us and brett as its front loaded, B&F incentives that certain levels are to be reached etc, included being a media spokesperson, celebrity star and performer. WIN / WIN

If their is a cap squeeze already we r screwed in the next few seasons.

Surely Benny would not hav allowed this to happen this soon.

This from the grigg resigning article:

"We would like to acknowledge Shaun’s management team, led by Alex McDonald, for the professional manner in which the discussions were conducted." Dan Richardson

What did the 5 fingers say to the face........................SLAP!!!

Hopefully dusty's dad doesn't read it!! That is to assume that he can read??.......
