I am reasonably certain he is contracted and unlike others i do think if the right offer was made for him the Swans would consider trading him as we currently have quite a few good quality tall defenders.
Name them, as i haven't seen too many and we could have added another one last Friday.

Thanks for answering the question and for not being a tosser about it. :thumbsu: ;)

Re: Brendan Fevola?

In the daily telegraph today Bolton says the club will be looking for a forward to partner future superstar sam reid..I imagine the club has been looking at the fev with great interest, and IMO fev is a massive chance to come to Sydney next year :) Me personally I hope he does I love fev and would definitely go watch him play, and i beleive we can help turn his life around and get him on track like we have done with plugger and hall!

Chris Dawes.

Tosser ? Tosser is the term i would use for the Hawthorn flog on Friday night after the game that was yelling to a few of us that your not South Melbourne anymore your interstate scum and he kept going. If there wasn't a fence in the way he might have spent the night in hospital.

Ted Richards
Lewis Roberts-Thomson
Alex Johnson

and if one of them gets injured we could always bring Spangher back to defence. I just don't think we need 4 top quality tall defenders especially when we are obviously lacking in other areas.

no offence but possibly barring Ted Richards (who i think is 29 next year) Grundy is the best of the lot of them. Johnson is potential(mainly been playing 3rd tall aswell, doesn't mean he'll be a great CHB), LRT is solid and Spangher was hopeless as a defender at WC, he's been lively up foward this year but that doesn't mean he's gunna go great in defence.

Grundy is the last one that should be traded, the only reason he gets bad raps on here is because of the occasional bad kick....none of the others are significantly better kicks, but Grundy's better then them all (except maybe Ted) defensively and offensively.

thats the sort of shit I equate with saints fans.

Definitely in favour of pursuing Dawes. He wants to stay at the Pies but it must be getting to the point soon where the Pies have to release players due to salary cap pressures.

We don't have as much to interest the Pies as other clubs like Melbourne, Bulldogs, GWS (clubs who also are in need of a big power forward) however.

Surely Dawes is the one we have to chase. He and Reid would be a mighty forward double act, and we have a good history of trading with the Pies.

Mike Sheahan nominated Dawes in his Ask Mike thing in the Herald Sun on Saturday, from memory.

Dawes is a beast.

I don't think we can afford to offer Dawes 500k - 600k if we want to have another space in the salary cap to offer Reid a deal to keep GWS away.

Surely with Bolton, Bradshaw and Kennelly retiring that would take a huge chunk out of the salary cap. I wouldn't know figures or anything but surely with Bradshaw being the number one forward on the list at the start of the year, and Bolton being the number one defender, they would be close to earning 500 each per year. Throw in Kennelly who wouldn't be cheap, I'm sure there is still plenty of room for both.

Like someone else said earlier, White plus a second rounder might not sound appealling to Collingwood but in all honesty they might not have a choice in the matter like Geelong with Mumford. At least, its something I desperately hope, it could potentially be a decade forward line.

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Barry Hall was like 19 and not given multiple opportunities.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like his type but he could be the kick start we need to move out of the also-rans of finalists and into the top 4.

Don't think you can equate Dawes with the Mummy situation. Mummy was not getting a regular game and obviously felt he was behind in the queue. He was largely unproven and the Swans swooped by offering him what looked to be quite a fat contract given how unproven he was (and which with hindsight looks to be "unders" for Mumford). It was a bold, swift piece of recruiting before the two or three other clubs genuinely looking for a ruckman had time to contemplate him.

On the other hand, Dawes' form is far more exposed. I doubt anyone thinks he's an out and out star, but he is certainly competent. I am struggling to think of more than two or three clubs that wouldn't rub their hands in glee if they could get their hands on him, or a player of his ilk. A couple of potential suitors are probably maxed out, salary cap wise. But that still leaves about 10 possible competitors for his signature if he is squeezed out of the Pies. And all but Carlton finished below us on the ladder, have earlier first round picks and haven't effectively already committed their first round pick on a draftee.

Thats my thinking cap wise, but i am also concernes end of next year we have a lot of key players to resign so we need to keep some cash

Re: Brendan Fevola?

Chris Dawes.

After I wrote the post about fev I read the herald and seen the article about Dawes and now I'm thinking maybe we'll be after him. Unlikely he'll come but can we afford him? Surely since kennely, Bradshaw and bolton retiring we'd have some room in the cap!

No doubt we could afford him in our cap,

Unfortunately... Finding a suitable trade for him would be a somewhat more difficult proposition...

Re: Brendon Goddard

Here is the one we want People! What do we have to give?

The prospect of trading Brendon Goddard - unthinkable six months ago - looms as one obvious choice. Goddard's teammate Nick Dal Santo did not rule out the prospect at Monday night's all-Australian presentation. The time would be now given that free agency will enter the game next year when Goddard comes out of contract.

Agreed. If our recruiting/drafting team manage to bring in a player like a Goddard or a Dawes/Higgins type of player with what we have to trade with this year, they will have well and truly established themselves as the best recruitment team in the AFL given what we have to trade with.

We just have so little that other teams would want to give up a star player for.

I can't see the Swans chasing a KPD (next year maybe), a medium defender or inside mid/running half back.

imo it'll be an outside mid/half forward or a 5'10 - 6'4 defensive minded utility who has great disposal skills that can be moved forward but would play in the backline in a similar role to Nick Smith otherwise.

A KPF will only be traded for if they come real cheap price/peformance wise or if the Swans are confident about having enough coin to resign Reid and the rest next year.

I think that if White doesn't fire next year, the Swans will tie up Reid and spend what ever loose coin they have on someone to take Whites place.

Recruiting a KPF who doesn't come at a fire sale price when compared to their talent would be a big mistake this trade period when you cast your eye towards 2013 and beyond.
