We move into the 8 with our fourth win in a row

After beating a couple of teams lower down in the ladder, it was time to be tested against a Top 4 team in the Wonders. However, morale was high. On Mother's Day it was some quick giving of gifts then off to the match:


The match begun at a frantic pace and we scored the first goal with a great move by Zoops , TY24 , Hate , por_please_ya Chipmunk and then a goal from Itsmyshow :

1 : 1.42 {rHFF} - He tries to find Zoops with a chip pass.
1 : 1.46 {rHFF} - Zoops is caught under pressure and knocks the ball forward.
1 : 1.48 {rHFF} - Quality gather by Zoops.
1 : 1.52 {rHFF} - Handpasses to Chipmunk.
1 : 1.57 {lHFF} - Handballs to Itsmyshow.
1 : 1.58 {lHFF} - Itsmyshow attacks the goalface.

The Wonders themselves had some strong players, however, and despite goals from TY24 and SM , we were behind by 3 goals at the end of the first quarter. We started the second in great form with early goals from Zoops and PMBangers , but the Wonders held onto their lead and was a point up at Half time.

The third quarter would define the game, and we absolutely nailed it, with 2 goals in the first 36 seconds and a rare goal from our captain:

3 : .06 {rW} - A bit of space for ArdentEagle to utilise.
3 : .1 {rW} - Agent93 applies the tackle.

3 : .16 {C} - That's a massive kick from 11kgm.
3 : .2 {C} - Great goal by 11kgm.

3 : 11.03 {lFP} - Another bounce taken by Agent93.
3 : 11.07 {lFP} - Not a lot of daylight for Agent93 to aim at.

At the end of the third quarter we were 27 points ahead, which we extended to 39 at the final siren, courtesy of an often unsung hero Golumless with 3 goals in the final quarter! Performances were good across the board - with 13 different goalscorers we are a team on form.

So we move into 8th and it's very tight in the table. Next up, the Gumbies. We are 4 wins in a row, the Gumbies are top with 6 wins in a row. It's going to be a cracker.

First loss in 5 but we stay in the 8

The game against the Gumbies was a good one, and the thread was no different. We heard about the Tour Giro and about some running event


As for the game, it was a close run thing. The Gumbies' defence was strong and it took us until nearly the end of the first quarter to score our first goal, which was a great team goal typical of our style:

1 : 17.16 {lHFF} - PhenomenalV1 with a little space.
1 : 17.2 {rHFF} - Sees Agent93 out of the corner of his eye.
1 : 17.24 {rHFF} - Agent93 is caught under pressure and knocks the ball forward.
1 : 17.28 {rHFF} - Agent93 tucks the ball under his arm and scoots away.
1 : 17.32 {rHFF} - Almost a throw to Hate.
1 : 17.36 {FF} - He looks for Itsmyshow.
1 : 17.4 {FF} - Itsmyshow appeals for the mark but play on's the call.
1 : 17.45 {FF} - Nobody's checking Itsmyshow.
1 : 17.49 {FF} - Gives the ball to PMBangers.
1 : 17.53 {FF} - This should be a goal to PMBangers.
1 : 17.57 {FF} - Straight through the centre.
East Side Hawks : 1.2.8
Gumbies FFC : 2.2.14

This continued in the second but with some dogged defence we were 2-3 goals down. Then in the third the Gumbies pulled away and we were 6 goals behind. The game was over.

Or was it?

We scored the first goal in the final quarter from Agent93 . Then PhenomenalV1 . Then NinjaSwan . Then a couple from Itsmyshow and we were within a kick! The scene was set for a great victory, unfortunately Itsmyshow was not able to convert a difficult chance and the Gumbies went the other end to score the winner. Zoops and por_please_ya got 26 disposals and PMBangers another 8 tackles. The goals were spread around again.

So a valiant loss and results elsewhere meant we remain in the 8 but it's incredibly tight. The way to guarantee finals is to win our last 2 games. Next up, the Royals. We'll fight hard and based on this performance, we'll have a chance.

As expected, it goes to the final day

Two games to make finals, and the first against the high-flying Royals. The order of the day from last week was kicking training:


As for the match itself, it was our now traditional slow start, but on the plus side the training paid dividends for Itsmyshow , who scored our first after a great tackle from Biggie at the Forward Pocket:

1 : 8.24 {FB} - Biggie applies the tackle on brahj.
1 : 8.28 {FF} - Itsmyshow sizes the options in front of him.
1 : 8.32 {FF} - Itsmyshow ignores a lead to have a shot.
1 : 8.36 {FF} - And Itsmyshow doesn't disappoint us.

East Side Hawks : 1.1.7

11kgm scored a great goal as well, but we entered quarter time 22 points behind. We fought hard in the second but this was extended to 25 at Half Time.

It was a great break for us, and in the third we outscored the Royals 8 shots to 3. However, it was 4.4 to 2.1 so we were still behind. Despite a valiant effort in the final quarter, the Royals pulled away for a win which does not help our overall percentage in a very tight finals race. por_please_ya continued her All-SFA form with 25 disposals, and PMBangers continued to be one of the leading tacklers in the game with another 8. As for goals, Itsmyshow scored 5 and 11kgm scored 4.

So we go to the final game against the Roys. We must win and things go our way to make finals. It wouldn't be an exciting season if it didn't go down to the final game, right?
