Think you've gone a bit far there EDFLman. If it was easier to get a kick in A grade than B grade then surely the grades would be reversed?!?!?!? Maybe some clarification on that point.... Physically as a top line player in B grade you may be at more risk whilst trying to get a ball. But I've played enough games to know that there ain't to many 'easy' touches to be found in A grade. Just cos they're not trying to knock your head off as often doesn't make it 'soft'. Agree that the league in general is very clean and b grade seems to have improved dramatically from what I can tell.:thumbsu:

Bomber l stated it was only harder to get a kick!
B grade is not Better, smarter or quicker...it is well known A grade is better than B Grade by a mile!
But you have to remember there are smarter players in A grade who can find the footy and created space for themselfs to get the footy and make something out of nothing, most good players know they are going to get the footy and make position 3 or 4 possessions before they get.

Some great matches in B grade this weekend.....

Airport West Vs Mraby. Any thoughts on who will win and why?

Mercuri, Martain, Pappa, Mcbride Vs Zerafa, Nash, Bell, Weston etc

Glenroy Vs West Coburg. Will be danger game for west in my opinion, Glenroy are highly rated and have some good new players to there list in Powell, Hoysted, Caulfield etc.

glad to see McBride get a mention been our best player so far this yr and thats including Martin Mecuri and Pappa. strong over the ball and a all round tough inside player one of the strongest at the club and only 19! you have seen both in the past two weeks EDFL MAN tell us your thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!! one think ill will say is that both sides need to preform to be a serious contender for the premier team in the comp... west coburg

EDFL Man - you're often on the ball with your comments but please fill us all in. You play at West Coburg who to my knowledge haven't been in the premier comp for a few years now. I'm curious though, you have many good valid points on the B Grade comp but i find it hard to believe if your comments about A Grade are fair dinkum, given the fact you are playing B Grade. Do you get feed information from mates who play in the grade above or have you played A Grade recently. Also, agree about your danger game this week - having been up and about the last two weeks - i think it will be a tough one this week - you should get over the line though. Gelnroy have some Jets.

Macca29, l have a few mates that play A grade, A grade is 2 or 3 levels away from B grade by a mile in my opinion! Haven't played A grade in a couple of years macca29, lm just the orange boy now a days! :thumbsu:

McBride fair player! :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:
In regards to APW Vs Marby this week, i think match ups will be the difference in the end Whelan is in good form.... big boy who plays out of the square.
The game will be won on ball in my opinion, if Mercuri plays he may just be the difference along with Martin who are very fit.
I think your younger players will go under the radar of Marby which is a positive for APW. Marby have alot of older blokes playing but with the young legs of APW they may just get over the line in a tight finsh in my opinion.

Airport West cos they have to and West Coburg cos they are at present just too good.:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

PS. Marby had more spies at Shore reserve last week than west Coburg had supporters.

By the sounds of it Marby must be worried about APW then!
In my opinion l dont think West Coburg are to good, l think B grade will be very close this year, anything can happen. :thumbsu:

What about my second point re Strathmore, interested to see that a lot of the A grade talk on this site is taken up with them. As I said on performance they certainly haven't set the world on fire so far other than bullying KP and EK all over the park. They're definitely going figure heavily in the wash up, but I don't know that they're the dominate force they were predicted to be. People talk about them having 35 one's players, well that's all well and good but only 22 can play and if they're not clicking together it means nothing! Thoughts???

Most of the hype comes from other clubs. As I've said before it takes a lot of pressure off your club if you focus on Strathmore and call them unbeatable. If the Mores win you say I told you so, if you win its the game of the century and the coach is a genius. Top 5 all can play so any win is a good one.

Absolutely agree the hype comes from other clubs. Also agree that the top 5 is as strong as there's been in this comp for a while, excited to be a part of it... No team is un beatable and I actually think that losing early may help the mores as they now just knuckle down and make sure they get the top 2 spot they'll be chasing. Round 7 will be a big game, interested to see if TATE plays and if so the reception at GV won't be too warm I'll give u the tip....

If J.Tate breathing he will play. Never one to shirk and issue anytime. Greenvale would know that.

Case well made agree whole heartedly. Different style and pace to A grade. Not say there arent plenty of stylish and pacey players kicking around B grade....:)

J.Tate = Machine (He will love playing against Greenvale, l'm tipping he will get either A.Aloi or D.Bicer). :thumbsu:

Not suggesting he would shirk it at all. Don't think GV would be focusing any more attention to him other than earnt for being a great player, interesting and unique scenario tho with the recent history b/w the clubs!

Aberfeldie are in a unique position I think. Seem to have spent a fair amount of $$ to put together their team tho not in the vicinity with SMore or GV and they're really not looking like acheiving much other than keeping heads above water. Any thoughts on that topic in general, I think that's the key to long term success such as Keilor has had, finding the balance b/w $$, juniors and the clubs long term security....

are there any young guns (under 18s) within a grade, outside of TAC Cup lists?

To be honest and frank Tony, if there were they would be playing under 18 TAC Cup! :p

Please feel free to add your name tho! :D

Then surely McPherson can't be one of the best then?
He has had financial backing from the club to get players that he wanted and needed! I agree to with Ian Denny and JB from Glenroy. :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

McPherson lost a lot of players last year and got to within a kick of winning another flag:thumbsu:

Agree 110% with your statement about Keilor having long term success, but Strathmore seemed have :D:D:D:Ded that up the wall....by buying all these imports in my opinion, time will only tell!

But lm sure Eagle1 Greenvale spent more money on players last year than Strathmore!
It seems this year the tied has changed.......wouldn't it be funny if Greenvale took the A grade flag home.....:D

Yes you have valid point there Tony, but there hundreds of players like Lobosco and Stewart at around (170 -178cms)....these players have to have X factor in there game, l must say something must stand out in there game and maybe Robert Hyde couldn't find that!
Maybe they were to slow etc only Hyde would know the answers to that!
I might add they(TAC teams) will 90% of the time place a bottom age player on the list instead of top age player....thats just how the system works.

I tend to agree with you about Strathmore, My gut feeling is that local clubs in general just won't be able to maintain that kind of salary bill for long periods. BUT maybe they're ahead of their time, pioneers breaking new ground into the local footy competitions of the future... Could be that with the old VFA/VFL being swallowed up into the AFL system that local sponsorship dollars that was directed to those clubs in the past will filter down and support local comps....

May have played first 1-2 games but did his hammy. Had a lot of back and hamstring probs over the years at KP. He'll be back tho I have no doubt, great player fwd or back.

Barclay has been playing for APW, played well on the weekend!
Don't always believe what the paper says....it's the old saying "10% truth 90% bu ll sh it!"

Keilor recruits plenty don't worry about that. As for Strathmore you seem to forget an important point, if your good enough you will play. All the so called young guns who have left are not good enough.
