Also condolences to the family and friends of quality bloke and gun junior footballer, Corporal Cameron Baird…

I still remember the presence he had when playing juniors at the Mores before his time at Calder.

We (Abers) played Strathmore in an elimination final at Glenroy and they played Bairdy, still in the 16’s, but he was bigger than most of us at that age. He dominated that game and had a good junior career; he was unlucky to not get drafted before he served our country.

RIP

Very sad news. Condolences to family and friends.

Dunno if it's of interest to anyone down that way but the RDFL has a night game this Friday (7.30pm) at Romsey with the Redbacks taking on Broadford. Barry Hall will be at one end and century goalkicker of the past two years Matt Davidson at the other

Quite a number of clearances into Broadford FC this past week, including a few with previous ties to EDFL clubs, should be an interesting contest.

Should be a big night - the old warrior Paul "Harro" Harrison may be pulling the boots on again. Legend of the EDFL!!

Keilor gone, Mighty Mick gone
Still 4 teams to make up the lst 2 spots in the 4.
Huge round of footy next week will seperate the men from the boys

Gone that's for sure. keilor has sacked coach's that had a lot better win lose ratio than him if they lose to paco this week he must be on shaky ground.may be they can bring back Adam Edwards back and really go backwards ?

bangfrom50 have you got any idea who will replace Mick

Can't give you any names just yet, KFC have put the feelers out though(at least 2 current oposition coaches & 1 current WRFL coach). I'm sure we would all agree that Mick is a great coach, my opinion is he would be a better coach next year somewhere else just for the fact that after 5 years his times up at Keilor. Mick at a new club next year would be worth every cent, he needs a change, new challenge, fresh start.

"At least 2 current opposition coaches"...........the mind boggles. Are you talking Premier division coaches? Micky will find himself staying in EDFL at an opposition club. He has a board magnet for every player in the league so at least his new club will save on magnets. New club will have to include a club jacket to replace the Keilor one. May find the jacket is stuck on the torso as I've never seen him out of it!!
As for Keilor.....should look beyond the coaches for poor season. That is recruitment/retention of players. What about football department?

Yes Premier Div coaches. Mick would be a welcome inclusion at any other club, he is a terrific coach.
The fact is Keilor were up and about for many years, finals 10years in a row which is a great achievement, but reality is to be that strong year in year out you need to have good players every year and that costs $$$'s. Fact is the $$$ have dried up to a certain extent and current enviroment is other clubs/leagues are willing to pay huge $$$'s so loyalty is left behind. No matter how good your coach is, if you havn't got the cattle then you are no hope. Some champion players coming to the end of their careers also. Mick & the club will part ways amicably at the end of the season, KFC would love to keep Mick but not at what he costs them.

OK, let dissect this:
Airport West - Adam Contessa unlikely to leave after a good year so far
Greenvale - Anthony Rock - No way he would leave
Pascoe Vale - Steve Paxman - First Year coach so can't see him leave
Avondale Heights - Saade Gazi - As per Airport West
Maribyrnong Park - Brodie Holland - With the great work he has done to resurrect this group, he's going nowhere unless gets a gig at higher level

So, this leaves Keilor with the following out of the at least 2 from Premier Division from this group if serious approaches.
Strathmore - Digby Morrell
Doutta Stars - Marcus Barham
Oak Park - Dale Chadwick
Aberfeldie - Mal Michael

Keilor need to look outside of EDFL and maybe look at their entire football department

i dont think they have to look at there football department. may be they should look at the committee
and what have they done to help mick. they have so many junior players that have gone to other clubs
may be they are the ones that should resign :(

Bit harsh, plenty have left to play at div 1 / div 2 level because they didn't want to work hard enough under Mick
Great for the Airport West trio amongst others to have success good luck to them back in A grade but I reckon a change of attitude may be relevant along with opportunity
The comps at a level now that being a half decent junior doesn't mean automatic a grade seniors

Don't see Mal Michael or Marcus Barham leaving to go to Keilor

Still half a season to go, a lot can happen in that time + the 1st month once the season's over. The search is not confined to the EDFL either, plenty of VFL coaches/assistants would take the $30k to coach a suburban team, training 2 nights a week and play Saturdays(instead of Sunday's), less travel ect.ect.
Don't discount retiring AFL players either.

condos won't be coaching at keilor that is for shore. don't be surprise he popes up in the western region again there is no way he would put up with the effort of some the players at keilor i would say he would be keen to coach again with his old man.

Eames - that's the first i've heard of his name popping up.
Whoever it is will need some strong pulling power to ensure at least 6 recruits are secured to top up after a few retirements/departures at the end of the year. Apparently the KFC is not the "great club" to be associated with when there is no success on the field!!!!

How do you measure that? Why is it not a great club when there is no success. Can you give an example?
