Multiplat Fallout 3

FO3 will be a travesty & a disgrace to a proud RPG franchise. all vids i've seen so far suggest it'll be a generic sci-fi FPS based on the horrendously overrated oblivion engine. also appears to have about as much RP depth as bubble bobble. entirely undeserving of the prestigious fallout tag. why couldn't bethesda just keep the **** away from the franchise & make some pissy half-life 2 ripoff??

From another forum I frequent:
Speaking as someone who has a review copy and is doing a review (that is embargoed still), this game kicks rear end. Ignore the NMA idiots, this really feels like Fallout and Oblivion had a baby, a beautiful boy that inherited the best of both his parents. It's not a perfect game, but it's an awesome role-playing experience (in the true sense of the word) that's fun as poo poo to play, looks good and managed to hold my interest for two consecutive play-throughs.

Let's just put it this way: I have a review copy for my 360, but I'm still picking up the collector's edition the first chance I get.

you're suggesting it's a good thing that FO3 is the mutant spawn of fallout and oblivion? oblivion is a piece of shit.

Oblivion sales speak for itself.

Few other games give you so much content and value like Oblivion does.

I appreciate Oblivion for what it is, but I personally couldn't get into it

Then again, I'm terrible at RPG's so that's probably why

I agree on the combat, it was lame....but I'm sure Fallout 3 will be an improvement with the use of guns and not having to rely on a shitty stike/block/parry system. The story was OK I guess, not boring as such but not memorable.

Artistic direction? The game is a masterpeice in every sense of the word.

The method for levelling seemed spot on to me.

Lots of shit things sell well. Sales are no indication of quality.

Often true, but it's not like sales were just driven by hype. The game constantly sold well over the months, and on multiple platforms. Bethesda made money out it, and although you didn't like it, there were many satisfied customers.

In your opinion

You have to agree though that the game didn't lack content. There were 100s of quest, 200 dungeons, 2,000 npc's, 40 hours of recorded dialog. Not to say the game didn't have faults. - Every RPG in history has. The leveling system guided players a bit too much I thought, and personally, I didn't like the instant travel. You couldn't do that in Morrowind, and I thought it made the world bigger and more dangerous because of it. Also the fighting system if you played a weapon-centric character could get dull. However I played as a pure mage, specialising in only magic abilities, and playing it that way was wicked. It was awesome that you could summon a creature that had the ability to summon it's own creature. I could create a small army of minions :thumbsu:

I spose that imo the series peaked with Daggerfall. I loved that game.

I can't wait for this. Just ordered for $50 (pc). Now I have to wait a week or so for it after retail release, but it beats paying twice the price. Steam charges $120!@!. ****ers.

Can someone give me an idea of what you can do on XBL with this game?

Is it free roaming where you can randomly meet other gamers along the way, or does it just have mini online games?

Should be a good game and am looking forward to one of my 1st RPG experiences (never really been a fan)

Will let everyone know what i think (not that many people care :D ) tomorrow as i have the day off :thumbsu:
