Yeah, I dunno if I would have got rid of NBA 2k9
I just couldn't get into it, maybe it's because my fave team(Indiana Pacers) are pretty damn bad and I don't like playing as others, but I just didn't like the overall feel of the game, was a bit too clunky, also I only got to play the game a few times due to playing FIFA 09 so much, now there is FC2 and LBP in a couple of weeks, followed by Resistance 2 next month, I just wouldn't have time for it.

From the short time I've played it so far I am having some fun, one really weird thing though is the dialogue, what is with everyone speaking without punctuations, it's all just one continuous sentence, weird.

So my thoughts so far, even though I am about 8% through and taking it all in very slowly and going at my own pace, I am really enjoying it.

There are definitely it's fair share of quirks in the game, like the occasional DUMB AI, sometime your shooting at them and they suddenly stop and just let you score a headshot, or sometimes they see you and just don't shoot at all, but overall the AI is pretty good, they flank at times, hide at others, and sometimes just do their own thing.

As said before the dialogue is probably the weirdest thing I have seen/heard, they basically talk without punctuation, just continuous dialogue until they stop, I think this could be due to the amount of unknown/new talent being used for the voices, most of the characters are African so wouldn't have much experience in voice over work, then again this could be the way Ubi wanted it.

The map/level creator is amazing, you really don't get what can be done until you really go through everything, but the amount of things that can be made will be something special to witness, just creating massive boulders, massive metallic structures that double over each other, train tracks in mid air, etc. etc. it is all absolutley fantastic to make and have fun creating some weird shit.

Also I might just add that the fire graphic in the game is by far the most realistic I have ever seen, not only does it spread like a real wild fire would, it looks amazing.

Haven't read too much about it, mainly because I never played Far Cry 1.

How related to the original is it? One extreme would be it's a complete follow on sequel with the other extreme being it's completely unrelated

It has nothing to do with the first. No story-line connections whatsoever. New developers, new engine, and new universe.

It has it's flaws, but it's still very impressive, and one of the best games I've played this year...

To me, it seems its just done that way deliberately. It gives the characters a flat, uncaring, cold attitude. Exactly what you'd expect from mercs.

Racked up maybe 6 hours now. Did some gun shop missions and unlocked some sweet hardware. The game becomes a real blast with the new weapons.

Side note, the weapons in this game sound ****in great! I'm using a MAC10 subby as a side arm and it sounds positively evil

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP

Yeah, I'm doing all the gun shop missions now so I can get some sweet weapons, there are some amazing guns too, and they do sound fantastic, especially when there going off all around you.

I read that the voice acting seemed rushed.

I watched a trailer where the main bad dude (Jackal I think) is standing over your weary, half-dead body saying giving his "nobody kills me" speech.

It reminded me so much of when Krusty goes into the recording studio to record for the new Krusty doll and he was out in about 5 seconds flat.

Picked it up yesterday and played about 4 hours last night, I love it, its weird im still getting the hang of the game, but love the way it plays and the fire looks awesome when it spreads.

For the solo campaign I picked the mad looking algerian. Love the start reminds me of the movie "The Blood Diamond".

Yeah, read through my posts and you will see what it is about, they speak without stopping, just continuous dialogue, it is very weird, but Mancey did give a possible reason for it, mine was that the talent used might not have done much voice acting before, which would correlate to that.

You play as a silent protagonist yeah?

But you can choose out of a number of them and you'd run into the others that you don't choose and hear them speak then? Seems a bit weird

Do you have a diary where you read stuff that "you" have written?

I always found it offputting in games like STALKER that you don't talk during the game yet write a diary. I prefer having a full personality like in GTA games or being completely silent like in Half Life

This game owns.

And if you have a sick home theatre system, crank it, because the sound effects are awesome. Running around with a Dragunov sniper at the moment and it packs a serious punch through the subs.

I just love how you can start a mission, then spend ages just mucking around in the countryside getting to the objective, taking out poor hapless rebels manning some ******* outpost. 2 hours pass and you go, hmm, better do that mission

Yeah, is a bit weird. I went the israeli hoping for some ala Eric Bana Munich dialogue, but he never talks

It does change the game a bit depending on who you go however. My mate went the Brazillian dude and he has different buddies, side missions etc

So agree, the immersion in this game is fantastic, it just doesn't feel like a game, it feels as if you've been transported right into the heart of Africa, it is so easy to lose yourself in what your doing.

I like the 3 weapon option too, so your able to have a sniper/assault rifle, then an Uzi/Pistol, and finally a big weapon like an RPG/Flamethrower etc. and being able to customise and upgrade is good too, also being able to pick and choose your weaponry for each mission ensures full success.

Dragunov, PKM light machine gun, and the small single shot grenade launcher in the pistol slot takes care of most situations.

Its my combo of choice:thumbsu:

As for the silent protagonist. I still haven't spoken, but the other playable character options have all shown up in my game and spoken.

I told my mate the guy he went is a total douche.

WOW, the Map Creator is amazing, I am currently trying to recreate the awesomeness of Somerset from Resistance, it is friggen hard to d and learn the quirks of, but the amount you can do with the creator is superb, also it has taken me about 4 hours to make my level about 50 metres long with mountains surrounding so far, plenty of a way to go though.

Has anyone had much luck using the mortar? there is so much potential for fun, but there isn't any way to target anything...

Picked this up on the weekend, but I'm going to try and finish Dead Space before I chuck it on.

My fingers are itching to give this a go though....especially the MP

Just loving this game now, cracked a few beers yesterday and had a big session which only resulted me in getting to 8% through the game. When getting missions I always get sidetracked and start taking out guard posts.

I did an assassination mission (where you receive it near a antenna with the weird voice). Had to take out a target in an airfield which was a fair drive away. Once I got close I found a safe house fast forwarded time to night and snuck in under darkness.

I had a sniper rifle to which I picked off one clown then while crouching movied quickly around and started hurling molotovs in buildings all the while hearing the soldiers yell out in panic that they cant see me. Just brilliant, it gives you so much freedom in how you approach.

Anyone found any decent weapons??, I have only done one weapons shop mission and it just unlocked a couple of pistols and a flare gun. Can you find RPG's, sub machine guns just lying around or do you have to purchase them?

Awesome game, i'm about 16% through it and it feels like i'm yet to start what i'm actually there to do.

My favourite thing to do is kill all the guards at a post then burn down the buildings and such with the flame thrower, the fire is the greatest fire effect i've seen in a game, it spreads onto pretty much everything.

I love snipering a petrol barrel and catching the rebels off guard then watch them try and run away from the fire, some make it and some get trapped and burn.

Only thing that disapointed me was the lack of wild animals, I wanted to see lions and elephants (and go big game hunting:D) they may appear later on but so far i've only seen Zebra, Antilope and Wilder beasts.

Anyone seen anymore than that?

Its definately a "feel" weapon. You can obviously target quite easily direction wise, its range thats hard to get spot on. Pretty much, the further you point the mortar to a straight up and down position, the shorter the round travels. Sort of like those old school tragectory windows games haha.

I haven't used it too much because it meant giving up my light machine gun, but it has been quite fun to use against guard posts from range once i got the hang of it (took a lot of practice shooting at things out in the middle of no-where).

Bosun, pretty much every weapon is available to pick up from killing rebels. Problem is they're usually all rusty and buggered, jam like a bastard and eventually blow up in your hands. My advice is to do a heap of weapon shop missions and just buy your own. The MAC10 is unlocked pretty early on and is an absolute beast of an smg, that you can carry in your pistol slot.

Prefer to keep that slot for my grenade launcher personally.

I've upgraded the arsenal since moving south. Still using the little ala terminator grenade launcher, but traded the PKM on a SAW, and the Dragunov on the cool as shit yank sniper.

Good times:thumbsu:

Buy it LLD, wont be disappointed
