I like FC2, it's been so far excellent

But goddam it, every friggin time I get out of my jeep, move 10m, another car comes along to try and nail me, so I take care of them, repair the jeep, get back in, go to go on my merry way, another car comes along and so and so forth.

Driving through checkpoints drives me nuts sometimes

Had a go of the Multiplayer, granted it was 6am so it was probably vs all yanks, but it was horrifically laggy

Currently at 92% and it seems there is something wrong with my game. Nothings happening, I'm waiting for a call from some guy at the airfield, but its not coming. I finished the mission the white guy from the bar gave me, when I press pause its telling me to go find a mission, but there are no available missions what-so-ever....not even at the weapons shop or underground. Anyone else had this problem??? Or is this save fu**** and will I have to replay the game from my 59% save file ?

Am I stupid for saying this game is much better than GTA IV? I've certainly got a lot more out of it.

Nah i'd agree. Ordinary ending aside i rate it.

Probably runner-up GOTY for me after Fallout 3, followed by maybe Dead Space and Saints Row 2.

Then GTA4...perhaps. Haven't played GoW2 yet tho

Hmm is this game worth buying on console?
Or am i better off getting on pc and living with the shitty graphics? (not the game, my computer)

kk

isnt it like really slow?
Slow? On console? Do you mean performance wise? Cus no, runs great, awesome performance, awesome graphics, awesome action game.

It can be slow when progress is concerned, largely because it can be completed on different dimensions. You can do it straight down the line (main missions) or you can hunt for every diamond, every tape, every safehouse, every guard post, every Underground mission, every buddy mission and every sub-verted missions. It's up to you mate. Very similar to Oblivion or Fallout storyline wise.

Just got it, and although taking a while to get the hang of it I'm now recognizing it as a real gem.

From all reports the first act or so is probably as bad as it gets, which is good news because I'm loving that.

I had a quick look but couldn't find any existing threads on this game.

Has anyone got it?

My mate bought a PS3 the other day and got the Harvey Norman deal where you got a free game. None of the titles appealed to him, so I grabbed Far Cry 2!

I haven't yet had a chance to play it, but the reviews make it sound quite remarkable!

Probably didn't show up in the search function (If you used it) because it doesn't seem to accept only 3 letter words. But yes there was a thread.

It's an amazing game. I'll just put it that way lol.

I have actually started playing it again, i stopped for ages for no particular reason.

Nearly onto the 2nd map lol.

It's really cool for the first like 10 percent or so, then you just repeat that 10 times, and then you get the most underwhelming end to a game ever.

I actually started playing this game again last weekend after not touching it since mid November last year (got annoyed at a section i couldn't pass, and it became a casualty of so many other games that came out at that time of the month - eg: rockband, cod: waw + many others).

From the moment i put it in, i realised why i stopped playing it, managed to get through the section i was stuck in, but the travelling from location to location still drove me nuts (i know they have buses, but it doesn't help when the next mission location is a fair way away from the closest bus stop).

In saying that the combat is pretty good, i found a few of the missions couldn't be resolved with pure gun fire tactics. There was one that involved having to take out a specific target (with a fair few guards to dispatch in the leadup AND when you have to escape). The weapons i had, did not have much ammo so i had to improvise, i started at the main entrance by having the jeep go through the entrance (jumped out as it was going forward).

When they observed the commotion, i ran to the entrance opening and unleashed hell with the flame thrower :D. Once the flames cleared, i took out the remaining stragglers, outside and inside (once i got to the stairs etc), occasionally peering out of the archway windows to take out the next couple of soldiers about to enter the same building to stop me.

Taking out the target and escaping proved to be the easiest part, the target was killed. I didn't want to do a Rambo or Arnie in Commando, i ran down a few of the stairs, jumped outside, then jumped off the high ground and ran to an abandoned jeep nearby.

It was a pretty cool series of events and could have been a scene from the next Rambo movie :p

I too have stopped playing the game. I pretty much gave up on it in January when that save-game glitch cropped up. When they (finally) fixed it last month I gave the game another go, but only managed a couple of missions before turning it off. Long travel times and constantly having your gun break is just annoying, but the positive points in the game really stand out. I think it's best played when you turn the volume up really loud and play the game at a slow pace. Just taking in the beautiful environment is an enjoyment on its own.

Crap game which, along with Assassins Creed have robbed me of any confidence I had in Ubisoft being able to make interesting games, instead squandering good ideas with poor and uninteresting gameplay.

The monotony of it and the carelessness in programming such as having enemies constantly respawn at outposts makes the game a chore to play.

I haven't touched it in a long time, after not coming close to finishing it and I don't intend to any time.

I normally get a little annoyed when people say "this is the worst ____ ever" because there is nearly always something worse. I could say "this is the worst game ever" but surely, there have been some horrible games made by small companies (like Big Rigs) that are worse.

I'll change my statement to: "This is the worse game that I've ever played that's been made by a big company with solid resources."

It is atrocious. Even Assassin's Creed, a horrible game in itself, was better.

- clumsy combat
- repetitive missions
- terrible, rushed voice acting (see Krusty in the recording studio in the Lisa Lionheart Simpsons episode)
- fiddly menus
- uninteresting storyline (if I hear anyone say "disinteresting", I'll simply scream)

The only good things are the graphics and the cool - yet not overly useful - fire effect.

I had the same issue of playing the game, leaving it and then coming back months later only to just be bored shitless and not really WANT to play it after that. I ended up trading it for Prototype.

It is something I would like to pick up and have another play of again but you can certainly see why it is easy to put back down. Just has a few flaws that you really don't want in a game.

Guess Splinter Cell: Conviction is off your radar then?

Prototype was a letdown for me HBK. You?

The whole world was open but generic and there wasn't much to do except button bash your way through it. The graphics were poor too.

The story look like it tried to do a little bit too much. I'm all for video games trying to break out of the traditional good vs evil mould but Prototype tried to be a bit too artistic, so to speak, in its storytelling.

I had much more fun with it than Far Cry 2 though.
