It isn't decided on until after round 22.

Since Saints play on the sunday and they finish top they will get the sunday game and the benefit of 7 days recovery.

Cats v. Pies Saturday night would be the most likely match up IMO.

At this stage it would be.

Friday Night: Carlton v Essendon (MCG)
Saturday: Adelaide v Brisbane (AAMI)
Saturday Night: Geelong v Collingwood (MCG)
Sunday: St Kilda v Western Bulldogs (MCG)

Sunday could be at the Dome but it should be at the G.

Cheers for that.

I've got my fingers crossed that Pies Vs Cats is a Saturday afternoon game at the MCG.

So going on the times from last years week 1 finals...

Carlton V Essendon: Friday 4th September 7.50pm ET
*Adelaide V Brisbane: Saturday 5th September 2.30pm ET
Geelong V Collingwood: Saturday 5th September 7.30pm ET
St Kilda V Western Bulldgos: Sunday 6th September 2.40pm ET

*I wouldnt mind seeing the Saturday day game moved to 4pm ET and the potential Geelong V Collingwood clash at 8pm ET
Would be an epic Finals double-header mostly in Prime Time.

If it's Adelaide v Brisbane, then only one non-Victorian team will be in the 2nd week of the finals. The AFL will be happy :p

Not sure if anyone would know, but say the Saints win their QF.

They'll play their PF in Week 3 on Friday night yeah?

But if we lost the QF, win the SF...we'll play the PF on the Saturday night?

Anyone have any idea?

Why should it be at the G? Saints finish top shouldnt they be allowed to play at their "Home" ground?

It's the Dogs as well, makes no difference. If I was a Saints fan I'd want a massive crowd at the MCG. PF and GF would be played at the MCG, so it doesn't hurt to play there for the QF.

AFL would just love all of that.

Blues v Dons - 90K+
Crows v Lions - Sellout
Cats v Pies - 90K+
Saints v Dogs - 75K tops

2nd Qualifying Final
Friday night @ MCG Geelong Vs. Collingwood

1st Elimination Final
Saturday @ MCG Carlton Vs. Essendon

2nd Elimination Final
Saturday Night @ AAMI Adelaide Vs. Brisbane Lions

1st Qualifying Final
Sunday @ MCG St.Kilda Vs. Western Bulldogs

1st Elimination Final
Saturday @ MCG Carlton Vs. Essendon

2nd Elimination Final
Saturday Night @ AAMI Adelaide Vs. Brisbane Lions

1st Qualifying Final
Sunday @ MCG St.Kilda Vs. Western Bulldogs

So Collingwood gets a very short break (i.e. just 5 days) between their Round 22 game against the Dogs and their qualifying final against the Cats.

The AFL has already said it would be looking to maximise breaks for finals competing clubs so that no club has a real unfair advantage.

Therefore Collingwood will not be playing on the Friday night.

The breaks would be for each club:

Carlton v Essendon - both 6 day breaks
Adelaide v Brisbane - 7 day breaks
Geelong v Collingwood - Cats 7 days, Collingwood 6
St. Kilda v Footscray - 7 breaks
