After a bit of thought, the only thing that makes me feel less sad is that we were missing a good 1/2 a dozen guys that would’ve been in our team instead last night:

Larks
X
Lmac
Goater
Archer
Harvey
Wardlaw

I don’t know what happens at end of season but we need to delist some players and again bring in new guys to work around the best 22.

If we had the same hiding last night with all these in it would be deck chairs stuff

Don't mean to intrude but may i ask why Wardlaw isn't playing AFL?

Watching the VFL he 100% should be in the AFL side
A lot of injuries and several concussions for a guy we need to be a long-term asset, so they wanted to bring him back carefully. (It’s still a question we all ask every time, though.)

I think we’re trying to be absolutely right for the Saints game which we likely view as potentially winnable.

However in light of the complete violation we received last night I’d be surprised if we won another game all year.

Even taking into consideration the quality of opposition and what they are playing for, and our own injury issues, it's hard not to feel a little disillusioned about the future of our club, when we put in a performance like that after all the years of struggle and all the first-round picks we have received over the 5/6 years.

That was the most disappointing performance of the season, and the second and third quarters in particular, the most insipid and disorganized we have looked for a long time, and perhaps this entire decade. There were a couple of instances in that game where Geelong were running the ball through the centre of the field and there wasn't a single North player within 20 metres, the pressure on the ball carrier was nought giving our poor defenders no hope of stopping their forwards from scoring. We looked mentally and physically weak.

It wasn’t that we lost it was how.

Rick nails it in the shinboner.

We played like we were split into 3 teams mids forwards and defence and none one knew what either of the others were trying to do.

What’s deck chairs stuff? (Sorry maybe I’m old 🤣)
You are the right age - maybe too young - to know this one! Shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic = appearing to take action but not avoiding the disaster.

And ‘women and children first’ was just to check the lifeboats would not sink, I suspect even our lifeboats are rooted 🙄

It’s a club mindset.

I was in attendance at last year’s win against Gold Coast at Marvel. Remember how seething Hardwick was? “When are we going to grow the f—- up as a football club??!?!”

Well, look at Gold Coast now. And look at us.
This is what I've noticed. Clubs are ANGRY when they lose to North. They have alarm bells sounding, emergency meetings, fans in panic stations. This is a huge red flag for who we are as a club. I really enjoyed the Carlton win but couldn't help but question why Carlton as a club reacted so emphatically to losing to us. Now I know why.

It’s basically the fact that on the Titanic people were rearranging the deck chairs whilst the inevitable was coming

Possibly an urban myth but it’s a saying that has stuck

When you accept being rubbish you become rubbish . No one cares anymore. Six years of finishing bottom two but somehow we were going to shoot up the ladder hence giving away our first draft pick. The hawks racism thing has done more damage to Clarkson than I thought would happen. Viney I thought would be good for us ,take no prisoners ,but that hasn’t happened. And don’t get me started on on Rawlins and our recruiting

I'll be honest, i didn't even bother watching this game, when I saw the results after the game I shrugged and thought, yep, that is what I expected.

I will get back into the spirit of it when the women's football starts up, at least they have a crack every week.

The club and team have packed it in for the year so I'll be doing the same. Not watching, not attending and reconsidering my membership unless the appropriate changes start happening beginning with the leadership and talent/ list management.
