Maybe Smith and Duncan - both currently playing to a high standard but also potentially one serious injury away from dropping off the cliff.

Duncan is contracted for 24 as is danger.

Hawkins the obvious retirement along with stanley tuohy and ceglar.
Could see smith retiring although his form is great, rohan possibly also.
Blitz will get signed despite his age he is durable.
Menegola is 31 and FA i can see him going if another club makes him an offer.

So Hawkins, Touchy and Stanley likely on their last legs right?

Anyone else on the retirement wagon?

They are the obvious ones along with smith and ceglar.
Also got rohan and menegola as possible outs.

Danger duncan and blitz probably still have a couple of years left.

Win the premiership and end up with a better list despite Selwood retiring. Incredible.

All of bowes, bruhn and Henry will play 15+ games and be much better players at the cats than they were at their previous clubs.

There’s going to be a lot of salty opposition supporters when bowes and Henry cement their spots in the side and become quality players..many think bowes was just the “steak knives” in the Pick 7 deal with the Suns. He’s a very good player. Henry is going to be a gun for the cats. In a forward line with Hawkins, Cameron and Stengle, he’s going to thrive.

The cats will start the year slowly with Hawkins underdone and a few other injuries but their depth is too strong for them to have a big fall.

They are a lock to finish top 4. If they finish top 2, which is likely, at worst another prelim is on the cards.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Availability early will be a challenge.

We're looking at a rd 1 with no Hawkins, Henry, Duncan, Rohan, and likely Cameron.

He mentioned that though.

He obviously has confidence we'll replicate last year to some extent where we were 5-4 and then won 16 straight to win the flag.

Exactly…the cats follow the similar pattern this season to last ..no club has better depth…and your depth is better this season than last…

De koning or Stewart go down…Blicavs moves back..there’s also esava who will somehow become an elite defender.

Stanley goes down…Blicavs can play ruck or ceglar comes in. Far worse rucks than ceglar

Selwood retires..from the gf side, in comes max Holmes, one of the best young midfielders in the comp. In comes tanner bruhn.

Gary Rohan coming to the end…welcome former first round pick ollie Henry to play alongside Hawkins, Cameron and Stengle.

Brisbane and the demons are the only two sides that can challenge the cats for the flag this season.

What we had last year was near full player availability going into finals. The group is still nearly half 30+ year olds. Law of averages says our depth gets tested

I do agree but what matters is to what extent our availability gets tested in round 20 (ie how many best 23 do we have missing just before finals and how many weeks do we have to settle the combinations pre finals) not how much it gets tested in round 1.

Dees had a similarly lucky run in 2021.

Be interesting to see who from the Cats' depth steps up
Bruhn & Bowes were outstanding gets. Bruhn has looked sharp and hungry in preseason too
And i still hate the cats for getting Clark out of the Bowes deal. :p jealousy is a terrible thing :)

Holmes, Atkins, Bruhn, Bowes, Clarke...your midfield will be strong for a good while.
The big one will be when Hawkins, then Jez, drop off. that forward line is unstoppable at the moment.

Ollie Henry will be a jet for the cats for the next decade. Cameron still has 4-5 quality years left. We would all be silly to think the cats haven’t targeted a gun forward from another club. When Hawkins retires end of this season or next, they will bring someone else in. Probably the brother of their full back who will be the best full back in the game from 2024

Thing is, who out there is like hawkins
I think jez will be good another couple of years at least. He relies a lot on explosiveness and it can disappear....just in time for cadman to come out of contract i guess :p

I think if we bring in tdk its more likely to be as a ruck (theres every chance both stanley and ceglar retire this year) to replace our over 30 rucks.
Forward line post hawkins will be cameron ollie henry and neale is the big hope if we can hang onto him and he doesnt go home to WA (ollie dempsey may also be another option who the club rate).

Perhaps but of all our players Hawkins will leave the biggest hole to fill when he goes. We have structured our forward line around him for a decade.

No he won't, do you actually watch his games? Can take the odd gr8 mark and crash a pack but does more damage to his teammates than he does to to the opps.

The midfield is looking a lot healthier depth wise and the fwd line has more options, as in set up. Seen doubts from fellow Cats supporters about Neale staying, I do hope he will because I had thought he would be a replacement for Hawk when the time comes but if not, it wouldn't be out of reach for a developing/or experienced KF to be brought in.

We've improved yes, so have all the other teams in a very even comp.

Lore Close and dempsey now signed til 2025 (same as blicavs and knevitt) so you can amend your list.

Apart from older guys who will be 1yr deals or retire close and esava are the main two first team players left ooc. (Parfitt is contracted but id expect a trade happens to somewhere else).

the list is maintained by footywire, so you'll have to tell them

the spreadsheet just collates and displays the information from their website in an accessible way
