I would have thought with our patented heavy training load we would have had the legs to out fitness them after half time

We just ran into a better team I spose

One of the few who concede that.....we are so myopic after a loss.

Read it again.

I followed the club through the wilderness.

Now another 8 years have gone.

8 years is a long time. But when you have been around as long as I have, you can remember 44 years of drought.

One thing that pi**ed me off in the 3rd quarter was when Caddy and a few other Tiger players were getting into Miers after they thought he dived when Houli whacked him while he was on the mark, not one teammate flew the flag to help the kid out, apart from one player giving a token shove to Caddy when he was running off.

Wouldn't have seen that when the likes of Chappy, Scarlo and Moons were running around.
Houli should get done for the same thing Hawkins did.

But he wont

GO CAtters

What about Blicavs dropping a sitter off the chest, thouhy not going hard at it leading to a goal.

Can’t look at an isolated incident like that. Was a bad mistake but there were a few in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Blicavs hand ball wasn’t great either but Cats could’ve been 5 or 6 up at half time if they’d capitalised. Boys played well and fought hard, Joel was immense, what a Captain! Edwards into the middle turned the game for the Tigers but Narkle, Parfitt, Miers, Esava, Henry all played big games and have more to offer. Stewart isn’t going anywhere. Nothing to complain about IMO.

10 questions:

1. Where was Guth in that second half? Had a blinder in the first half and then was sent forward and back?
2. Where was Danger in that second half? Had a blinder in the first half and then was sent forward?
3. Why the hell did we keep sending it to our half forward line, rather than getting it in deep? That is literally how they get all their goals, via rebounding from half back in waves
4. Blicavs on the wing worked last week, but clearly he should have been sent back once Lynch got off the chain. Why wasn't that move made?
5. Why wasn't Henderson swapped with Taylor, at 3/4 time? Give them something different to look at/play on
6. Why did we go down the line, instead of waiting for an option to open up?
7. Why does Ablett think he can go another year? Absolutely awful finals series, and does not deserve another contract
8. Why wasn't Houli, Edwards or Prestia tagged? Clearly their three players that provided drive.
9. How in the f*ck have we made another prelim, and yet we still can't go further? Is it mentality, is it coaching, or are we just simply not good enough?
10. Lastly...Why.Oh.F*cking.Why...Why did you have to get yourself a suspension Hawk? Henderson was alright defensively forward, but provided nothing offensively.

Bonus question...Was this our last shot at a flag? Because it definitely feels like it. Up by 21 points at half time, but no will in the second half to win, like the first half. No change of plan or shuffling the pieces. Huge clean out this year, and languish in the 8-14 position next year. That includes the coach, but there's a snowballs chance in hell that will happen.

************************************

Lastly...F*ck the Grand Final, I won't be watching. Richmond deserved it tonight, but a Richmond v Collingwood Grand Final may actually make me ill.

F*ck this game. F*ck our coach. Just fu** it.

Just on number 4, he played on Gaff last week who was by far West coasts best

I've been ambivalent for a while now, but on the back of tonight's result, I've shifted fully in to the "Scott out" camp.

Now, I'll caveat that remark by making it clear that the fact that I want him to go does not mean I think he's awful. Any claim that he's a "bad coach", a "hack" or a "spud" is clearly ridiculous. You can't win as many games as he has at the highest level if you're incompetent. Broadly speaking I think he's in the "good but flawed" category - that's the nuance that needs to be acknowledged IMO in any discussion of his failings in finals. With all that said, however, I do think it's time for him to go now. He's had chance after chance - mostly chances created by his own good work, to be fair - and yet we've continued to collapse in September in the exact same way. It's gone on for too long and excuses can no longer be tolerated.

Btw, I realise he *won't* go...the above is really just an articulation of my feelings on how things sit regarding our coach more than anything else.

Thought Houli was their best player in second half and I do believe he was playing on Geelong royalty. Disappointing

Small defenders that can profoundly influence a game with their rebound and kicking skills, who would have thought.

It's a tough lesson but perhaps we can garner something from this and not continue with our plodders back there who simply lack the basic skills of an AFL player.

The young kids stopped after half time. Guthrie I didn't see at all after the half. Same with Atkins.

Not putting our best defender on Lynch was the worst coaching move after the ruck debacle of the Pies game.

That's two selection mistakes that have cost the Cats a GF birth.

well done to richmond... might start getting the credit they deserve from some on this site soon. about time the 'not a very good team' tag was dropped, well and truly.

good effort from geelong, but the start of the year flattered us. good, solid team, but ultimately not good or solid enough.

o'connor, guthrie, narkle, miers, atkins all impressive, i thought.

Fair play; I thought we played as honest a game of footy as we have all year, Richmond were predictably far too good in the end - congratulations Richmond, worthy Grand Finalists.

Agree with your assessments on the credentials of our younger players (-Guthrie) too - I'd add Ratugolea to that list also.

I beg to differ RHS. We had no one who could take a mark in the forward 50.
The 1st half goals came from forward pressure from smaller players. You will not get far expecting to win without a winning KPF. Richmond had one in Lynch. We did not.

I guess I'm focussed on what we did have available, and the difference in the two halves. Lynch was kicking goals in the first half. They kicked more goals on us when Blicavs went forward. And we got a negative from Blicavs going there.

Henderson was beyond useless in the forward line. I don't know how the MC could look at that guy and pick him as a forward for this. Was Rohan injured? If not I would have had Rohan's forward pressure and rely on our small forawards to kick a bag.

I think Blicavs going forward in the second half hurt us in defence, and I counted about 4 stuff ups he did in moving the ball on because he has no innate feel for the game outside of the defensive 50, and it gets worse the closer he is to our goals. Meanwhile, our defence suffers.

I think I’m going to step away next year this loss just hurts

And with so many players leaving it’s just heartbreaking to drop a lost opportunity

Harden up princess.
Is this the same bloke that I used to grapple with 20 years ago?
I feel like I don't know you anymore.
