Like most comments here, we do not have the information. Was Danger fit enough to go back to the MF?
They make their moves with knowledge and information. We make our suggestions with hope and anguish, and retrospective analysis.
Blicavs was a winner last week on the wing, and nobody would have stopped that supply to Lynch. He is an awesome talent, and Taylor is or was no slouch, and we also had Hendo .
The big factor here is and was HAWKINS. Not just his direct contribution to goals but his strength and ability to make space for Sav. We ALL knew his absence would be costly, and the margin reflects that. Kudos for CS for actually giving the Tigers something to think about at half time. Any other arguments are spilt milk until people can accept and appreciate how great this Richmond team is.
They are good yes, but we can be too. I think your underselling just how good we were in the first half.

I agree I don’t know why certain moves were made but didn’t scott say something in the presser about “it will take a while to come to terms with what we did in the 3rd quarter”?

We got overrun by the best team of the past 3 years.

You are overrating this Richmond team. They will probably go on and win the flag now, but they are by no means one of the “great” teams. We had every chance to beat them last night. With Hawkins and Duncan we probably do.
Duncan has proven weak under their sort of pressure.
Hawkins simply can not be relied upon and his absence was so costly, but typical of his overall package.
We will be talking about this Richmond team next year as one of the all time great teams. They were a bit lethargic pre half time, but awesome enough to step up a gear and charge through us.

Was Danger injured?

So what if Blicavs did ok last week? What is the converstion last night like: assistant coach-"Lynch is murdering us, and Blicavs is stinking it up on the wing." Scott-"But it worked last week!"

Don't think it was quite like that, but no doubt all will be revealed as to what transpired.

Tiger crowd at the ground was much better then the 2017 game -calmer, quieter, more amiable. They were ok.
Although what was with booing Stewart every time he kicked out after a point?

Danger had to be injured- he never plays like that second half.
Not moving blix- inexplicable. Scott is a mystery isn’t he.

Probably just their pea-brained attempts to put him off when kicking in.

We got smashed out of the middle badly in the 2nd half. Tuggers were just getting centre clearance after centre clearance and we were powerless to stop it.

I think we got beaten by the better team, and despite the great first half we just couldn’t keep it going for long enough. Losing to the pies in the first final was a massive f up. Cost us a gf birth most likely.

Danger most likely was- that happens when you carry the team every year.
Who was Blics direct opponent?

Doubt that.
We are about where we deserve to be given the season, but I would think Pies would do us again. GWS are enigmatic, and certainly capable of upsetting them this week.

More accurately - "we got away with it last week". Important to note Gaff was close to West Coast's best player last week. But because we won (and deservedly so), it gets glossed over.

He's not a wingman. Pretending he is doesn't make it true. It took him away from defence and in the final quarter Lambert killed us.

That excuse doesn't cut it anymore due to the bye before the finals start.
Well then it's because the players that carry us are past it. Ablett, Taylor, Selwood, Danger- he can't play 3 consecutive BOG games at his stage of career. Clearly we ran out last week superbly, but yesterday, we were smashed in second half, and that is atypical for any CS coached team since 2011.

He’s tried his guts out all year. He might not get a go at a Grand final.
Good question- caddy? Ellis? Someone who didn’t matter much?
I can’t imagine another coach in the comp playing him out of the backline.

We are one of the best teams of the past 3 years. We had them by the throat by half time, and we let it go. They got the ball out of the centre far too easily in the 3rd.
If you don't accept Richmond being significantly superior to us over the last 3 years you will just be frustrated. We did not let it go. Did you not think our half time lead was deficient? Most informed spectators would have. They can step up their power play just like that. Saw it against Brisbane. They were fresh and rested, and we were shallow up forward.

Blitz back mean we have someone up the ground who can apply pressure to ball carrier meaning entry isn’t as clean meaning defenders have more of a chance
Finish on top of the ladder, play shocking and only lose by 10 points to Collingwood, knock over the reigning premier, and completely dominate Richmond for a half, yet we don't have the players?
What an odd observation.
The whole we finished on top is nonsense we just got the jump on the comp due to the hard draw our last 13 is more of a representation of where we are at, the loss against magpies flattered us on the scoreboard and we were torn apart in 2nd half by Richmond. We have 5 holes in the side that need to be filled 2 forwards 1 ruck 1 mid and 1 defender and next year will be most likely 3 forwards 2 mids 1 ruck 1 defender

It has to be said that the cockiness of our coach has pervaded the players. Look at Dangerfield - all yap to Dusty before half time and then goes unsighted in the second half. Absolutely embarrassing and I genuinely hope they don’t give him the captaincy after Selwood retires.

To be fair he was like that at Adelaide too, and has been absolutely indulged from the minute he deigned to give Geelong an audience. Shouldn't be surprised.

The reality is his finals performances do not match home and away. He disappeared into the void in the second half when the heat went up. Got to be better than that.

But I'm looking forward to six months of reading how he deserves a premiership. Last I checked players played for teams, not the other way around (might want to look at Jack Graham for an example of that).

We finished on top of the ladder. Richmond are good, but not world beaters. I say they are the best team coming into the finals. But not that good we couldn't have beaten them after the first half start we had. Stop trying to build up Richmond like they are a version of Geelong from the not too recent past. They aren't that good. They were beatable last night, and we let them off the hook.
