I'm glad this Covid year really took the sting out of losing a grand final by it not feeling like a proper grand final. Oh well, they did better than i thought they would. Sucks that tigers will now be rated and compared to our 07,09,11 team.
not even close

So according to this both Scott and Danger agreed he should stay at FF in the 3rd, thats really strange that Danger would want that rather than being in the action.

I watched most of the 3rd quarter centre bounces at least this morning. We won the majority of them but cocked up our disposal going inside 50 for 2 of them and Selwood had that shot from outside 50 for another one. Richmond kicked a couple off the ground. So we didn’t lose much in the bounces. Mistakes were made in other areas of the ground, maybe he could have helped there.

My mate said to me during the week that you can absolutely dominate Richmond and they can struggle for a half of football yet they're somehow only 3 goals down. I'm not sure if he's todays nostradamus but It came to fruition. We really should have been further in front heading into the long break given the context of that first half.

You really have to make the most of your dominance against Richmond. We were out on our feet from about 5 mins into that 3rd quarter. There was nothing left to give.
Its pretty alarming when your team is cooked before half time.
We went from taking the game on to saving the game.
Full credit to them.

Off topic but these Tigers remind me of the Warriors a bit in the NBA of a few years back.

You could be up 10, the Splash Brothers would get hot and in the blink of an eye you'd be down 5.

Kansas City very similar in the NFL in last year's playoffs as well.

Tiges just have that extra gear right now, much to the disappointment of the rest of us

You could see it in Richmond's eyes. They were down by 3 goals and not of them looked unsettled or fearful of the situation. Having been in that position countless times over the years, they knew full well only a quarter of footy would be enough to get the match back on their terms. I'm sure they didn't expect to flip the game on it's head in just 15 minutes but with a full half still to be played, they would have felt confident even down by 5 goals at the long break.

Wouldnt be surprised if Taylor plays on tbh didnt do a thing wrong all finals series
He was good in the finals, but I feel one more season will be one too many. Henderson is 4 years younger and is playing better. If we get Cameron, no need to depend on Stewart going forward, Blicavs can go back to his best position as a key defender.

Yep, it sucks.

Barely changed the routine for the last few weeks. Against expectations everything was working. I thought we settled great too and really had them halfway through the second quarter. They just turned up the pressure though.

Cannot be displeased with getting there, it’s always far better than failing in a Prelim. No question. Encouraging signs from Menegola, Stanley, Guthrie, and Miers. All had queries under finals heat and all had good moments. Something to build on.
Cheers Partridge. Good to see ya
Yeah it sucked. But it was kind of good it sucked. Was good to feel something. Was good to be there.

Just wanted to say commiserations guys. The end scoreboard doesn’t reflect the game , it was intense and brutal. Pressure off the charts and if you hear guys like Shane Edwards say it was the hardest game he has ever played in.

Should be proud of what you achieved given everything going on this season and again I refer to a comment that Dylan Grimes made this morning but none of us know what these clubs have gone through being in the hubs. Everyone thinks oh how good they get to have some freedom but you don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. These clubs have had players with outside business that has had a high level of stress involved with covid, family issues etc and I think for both our clubs to make it to the big one considering everything going on is massive.

I’ve always been annoyed with Chris Scott and some of his comments directed at Richmond but I reckon I am guilty of misunderstanding him. I thought he was all class last night in his responses and your club as a whole was so respectful.

I know we have had a bad rap this season with some issues but I’m proud of our guys not going after Gaz shoulder when he came back on. I think it shows the true respect that our players have for the little master . We were well down in the game it could have been an easy option for some to physically get into him to potentially ruffle some feathers and upset Geelong.

Sad way for a fantastic career to end, the best player of the 00s by a mile land it just shows the character of the man to turn up and play given what is going on with family life but to come back on when clearly his shoulder was stuffed big time.

Nothing in the dangerfield incident at all either. Shouldn’t be any gripes from tiger fans that stuff just happens in footy.

Looking forward to another battle next season

Honestly I agree they are average. Dustin Martin won them that game hands down.
The only team in this years top 8 Richmond didn't beat at least once was Collingwood. That game was a draw in round 2.

Geelong had an awesome season and came very close last night playing some great footy. That Richmond overcame that was pretty special. Nothing average about it.

If the script was reversed and it was the Cats who trailed in similar fashion at half time and came back and won it I'm sure you'd be thinking that would be an incredible effort.

Congratulations, your team are awesome. It's a complete unit of selfless and synergistic talent. Don't worry, most sane Geelong Supporters cringe in anticipation of what Scott will say next. The club really needs to impose the Joe Biden playbook on him. Remiss if I didn't say, in '17 I was one of those that thought Martin was possibly over-rated with regards to the hype, I am now in complete awe of the magnificent player that he is.

If the deliberate out of bounds call in the Prelim hadn't been made, do ya reckon we'd have beaten Port last night? :p

Absolutely.

Don't forget Robbie Gray being held off the ball 35m out directly in front which wasn't paid in that game too. Another huge game changer.

Excellent. I'm going to blame the lack of flag on Ebert (or was it Boak? or someone else?) I forget :p

/s

Nah, we'll come back next year a bit better - get games into Sav and Clark, get the slowwwwww, un-agile backmen out and get some run there. Cameron and Hawkins up front with Danger playing the Rohan role and we might be a shout again.

There were a few of those contests last night too - clear as day, no whistle. Strange!

Thought Port got the rub of the green that game, but anyway the way we turned up last night I'd say we'd beat anyone but the Tiges.
Final margin flattered Port Adelaide IMO.

And yeah, our game was good enough last night to beat anyone bar Richmond. Completely agree with that.

Oh God please no. Harry has been a great player, but was been running on fumes and doesn't offer intercept marking and mobility like he used to. Harry now just concentrates on beating a man, which is good but it's no longer Premiership-winning footy.

You cannot say goat...since 1963, that makes no sense at all.
I have seen every GF since 1963. There is not a single player who comes close to being the NS every time he plays. He got them going end q2.
He kicked the clutch goals. He wins them the flag this year. His possessions always count.GAS had one excellent finals series 1989. The rest, he was poor or indifferent. Carey was wasteful in 97. Matthews was not always brilliant, but would be a contender by the sheer number he played in. Anyway, Dusty is still relatively young. Let's revisit this after he retires.
