and what is this Cockatoo, oh he's close, getting closer, so so close, oh he may have pinged something, but close...close...closer...marco polo, he's being traded?

This is why richmond are great. You HAVE to land that punch to beat them because their system allows you to dominate them and so long as you don't land that punch, they will always find a way back and capitalise on it.
There's only a small degree of difference between us winning the Flag last night, and the result we got.
There should be cause for optimism.
homer Simpson response. DOH
same result as 2019 prelim.
learn and change, continue the same or bail like Adelaide
1st option only option
system not enough, need flair, speed from back half, pressure building and spontanaety as required
cocky, clark, narkle, ratagolea types

We lost to an average Richmond team. Scott has not learned a thing from any of our previous encounters.

Can we finally send Rohan to the dole queue? inept footballer who's cancerous behavior has damaged relationships within the club.

And **** Cameron. Send that campaigner to the draft. destroyed our chances and distracted the whole club.

Dangerfield. Statistically his 2nd worse game playing for the cats. In a Grand Final. Disgraceful and towelled up by plodders.

Hopeless performance and the team should be embarrassed with themselves
What a joke! Our 'team of plodders' are mostly made up of triple premiership players who stand up when it matters most. Hardly a team of plodders. What does that make your team losing to us? Its baffling how some are still so outraged by our success that they can't accept we are a good team. Your tears of salt are delicious

On ya bike back to your own board Jono.

Tigers deserved to win - and they were gracious winners too. That surprised me, as they usually talk themselves up a lot more. Changed my opinion of the Richmond footy club in an instant.

We weren't terrible, just largely inexperienced and definitely the second best side this year. Feeling very optimistic about the future as well. First time in a while.

Please retire HT. Love ya...but it's time.

After 2022, we start again, a true rebuild.
It won't happen. We're in the fortunate position of being based in a regional town that players are drafted from. We already have our eyes firmly Tom Doedee and a few others from the area. We'll keep using free agency and trading to stay in contention. We'll never fully bottom out ... never finished below 12th indicates this and no other side can has managed this. 9 GF's in the last 31 years is testament to what a great club we are. I know we've only won 3 of those but we always put ourselves in the position to play finals and contend.

Since 1989 ...

9 GF's
3 Premierships
6 runners-up
7 Prelim finals
4 Qualifying finals/semi finals
3 Elimination finals

So in 31 years we've missed the finals just 8 times. It's a remarkable accomplishment.

I will do so now. Most of your fans have been pretty humble and good about the loss, but i couldnt resist responding to that blokes laughable comment. Congrats on a good season and probably see you in september next year
Think what you want and by all means make fun of those comments on your own board but footy is an emotional game and people taking losing a GF differently. I don't see the value in coming onto our board to call people salty

Like most of you all, I am a passionate Cat fan. Born and bred in Geelong and living in lockdown Melbourne. Have gone through the stages of football grieving, from anger, depression and now acceptance. In the cool light of Sunday I’m am disappointed and shattered we lost, but not like 2008.

I am grateful we had a team to barrack for at all in the sh1tstorm called 2020. I am proud of the team and club for handling relocation so well and making us proud and playing great footy along the way.

Unfortunately we were the 2nd best team in the AFL - by a small margin. We lost to a dynasty team that has won 3 of the last 4 premierships. I can accept defeat because WE DIDN’T LOSE BECAUSE :

- we choked
- we failed to show up
- we played crap
- lack of effort
- one or two obvious errors
- stupid coaching moves

None of that. We didn’t lose it - they had to play extraordinarily well to win it, and they did. Credit to them. I urge you to watch Chris Scott’s post game presser. It helps with the grieving.

Let’s hope we improve and give it another shake next year.

Go Cats!!!

(Is it trade period yet?)

A great team but the Tigers for me are a great example of the whole being much greater than the sum of its parts

his NS or any?

FWIW Houli was arguably better in 17 and 19 was fairly even too

but Dusty is a freak
MVP last night
Any. Firstly some of those panel members they choose to select the awards are laughable ... they drool over certain players and it effects their voting.

I don't think Martin was BOG in any of those games he won the medal and was always going to get it last night ... that was decided before the game was played and I said that. That's just my opinion. 2 of his goals were lucky they took the bounce they did for starters and the snap was a 3 times out of 10 goal. Not to mention his 3 clangers in the first half, 2 of which led to Geelong scores.

I said it in the game day thread but I'll say it again here. This was never going to end well after they said on the grand final brunch that Geelong had a venue booked for a party from midnight to 7am tonight. I mean really that is just arrogance
You have to book a venue ahead of time. It's not arrogance, it's planning. Geez

I think you’ll find (my favourite passive aggressive phrase) that if you spent a bit more time reading the posts here that there is very little disrespect for the tigers. I am not so sure it would be the case if the shoe was on the other foot though.

I laughed so hard when I saw this article. I alway knew he had a high opinion of himself but this is beyond a joke. Leigh was one of the greats of the game but he rates himself higher than all others...except DM...who is his equal [emoji23]

It’s about premierships. Do you realize the cats went 21-1 in 08 and then lost the GF. They went about 55 games with about 2-3 losses. But one of them was a GF. Tigers meander through the home and away and then peak in September. Cats just won most games every week. Not about winning percentage. It’s about cups. It’s 3-3 so puts tigers at least on cats level. Stop living in a bubble!
Nonsense. This year Tigers finished 3rd, we finished 4th.

Can't argue with results.
Strange how current Tigers team doesn't inspire that 'great' tag.
Maybe its just the lack of aesthetics in how they win. That perceived lack of acknowledgement may be something that irks the team enough to motivate them for more.
Don't worry, history doesn't consider aesthetics. Winners are grinners and when ultimately your team comes back to the pack you can dine out on this era.
