As they said on the couch Monday night.
Cats blew it! Might never get another look at it like that again.
1. GABBA final
2. Shortened season with an old list.
3. Vlaustin out early.
4. 22 up in second.
5. Lynch , riewoldt, & Grimes limited impact
6. missed shots on goal. Shouldve been further in front at half time.
7. Allowing martin soft goals. Blicavs giving him space for his 3rd goal.
Beaten by a better team in the end, but we had a lot of things on our terms and still couldnt get it done. Mightn't happen again.

I especially agree on point 2.

3 not so much - he was a loss but we had Ablett and Parfitt, whilst still on the ground, severely limited all night. Gabba is all about contested footy and we lost out there.

5. Reiwoldt hasn't done anything for quite some time now. That free kick goal he got was actually a free to Hendo anyway.

6. Yeah we missed some but Danger's was a pretty good get from a tough angle.

Nearly through the six stages of grief ...

To assist, answers to the following would be appreciated:
- which Tiger\s was Bews covering/playing on ?
- which Tiger\s was MOC playing on ?

Can’t remember much involvement from these two, good or bad. In second half we had a distinct absence of running from backline. Not Jed and Mark’s fault but ideally as smaller defenders you’d hope for this.

Also - who was on Short ? 700+ metres for them! Can’t have been unexpected as his average was 400+ for year (and was actually outstanding enough to be the Richmond B&F) - surely would have stood out as someone for defensive coverage (?).

(TBH - I think Richmond would have won anyway, IMO they had another gear or two to go up if needed.)

On Dangerfield, I think the team didn't use him at his strengths to be honest. He is a capable forward, no doubt, and part of how we play should include him playing and even at times starting there. But he is not a great forward, and good defenders (as opposed to mids who get dragged down to defence) can usually quell him reasonably well.

But lets say compare him to Martin. Martin is a finisher, and Richmond's game plan revolves around letting him finish. Dangerfield's best impact is being a bull at the contest, extracting the pill and bowling over a few opponents while doing so.

yep. High pressure game and he had 5 possessions at 40% efficiency. And if he didn’t always sh*t the bed in big games you’d forgive it. But he does. You could set your clock to Rohan shitting the bed in a big game. fu** him off and play Krueger please

We have disagreed vehemently on many things. But we'll never agree as much as we do on this.

Gary Rohan received a contract extension until the end of 2021.
Unfortunately, the pea heart will be playing all season long.

Rohan is a spud

Donr let anyone tell you otherwise

And in a rather neat demonstration, this highly touted early draft pick (number 6 in 2009) was annihilated by the decidedly unglamourous pre-season draft pick Dylan Grimes. Who happens to be about 100 times the footballer.

That Sam Simpson KO was sickeningly huge. These are the short of knocks that can have longer term impacts. Good that he’ll have some time off before pre season.

Was he on feet at end of the game/presentation? Any news on him?

Think much of his season was good and overall warranted an extension of 1 year however his abysmal finals record surely has to mean that Scott doesn’t have him in the 22 that he’s targeting for finals. He should be depth for 2021. We do need a pressure/impact player (also with good closing speed and some contested marking ability but with consistency) to replace him. Hopefully Freddie or Jarvis can develop to be this.

No severe concussion apparently, remembers most of the game but not the incident so much. Busted rib.

I'm personally looking forward to his fist pump when he gets a handpass over the top against Gold Coast.

In time on in the last quarter. When we're ten goals up.

That was signed back in November last year - long before anyone could have predicted what obstacles season 2020 would bring

Be interesting to know if they hadn't extended his contract last year, if they'd still do the same now or if they'd say thanks for his services but he won't be required going forward

I reckon they'd keep him. I've got nothing against Rohan. Who cares if he banged a physio? He's an adult and can root who he wants.
Yeah he did f**k all in the GF (as is his way) but he kept Grimes quiet which is more important.
If someone said to us before the game Vlaustin and Grimes would have no impact you'd put money on us.

True about keeping Grimes quiet however still needed to bring some attacking influence as well, even if had been a couple of forward 50 marks and a couple of mad dashes into attack.

When we were bogged down by the Tiger zone in second half I thought we could have tried for him, Guthrie and Danger to sag to defence, link up and try to straight line run through the centre and kick long over the zone. Unfortunately the only time he took possession at half back he simply tried a sideways pass and overcooked it over boundary line.

Vlastuin yes, Grimes no. Grimes is a stopper above all else.

He also had to play as 2nd key forward though and fly for ridiculous marks.
Was sort of asked to do it all. The fact that he did one thing really well was good enough for me.

But if he was suffering from asthma then his capacity to run hard was going to always be a problem

Ahhh ok. Was watching tv last night and they were saying how quiet he was.
I noticed Rohan on him in the game.
But if he's just a stopper then that's a pretty shit game by Rohan then. (But still not too bad for a final)
Ignore my previous comments.

Just my opinion. But to me Grimes is a stopper first and provides rebound second. He's never really been a high possession winner. If it was either of Short or Vlastuin, I'd agree completely.

They did switch too. Certainly the first half it was Grimes on Rohan. Second half it looked like Grimes was on Dangerfield and Broad went to him a few times.
