Can someone explain to me why a blatant head high contact on Constable 15m out that almost certainly would have given us the lead back with less than 5 minutes to play was not a major talking point for the commentators? Absolutely bizarre that it wasn't mentioned given the significance of the game state and the impact that would have had on the outcome.

The game plan is sh*t too...

The game plan was working perfectly for the first 70% of the game. We had the game on our terms *because* of the game plan and we almost beat the flag favourites at their home ground without our captain and our best mid-sized forward.

That was an excellent game of footy.
It will now be interesting to see how everyone handles 4,5 day breaks.

Esava cost us 18 points on his own. But at the same time you can't doubt his endeavour.

This is why I think all seasons should be 17 games. Because every game matters.

I think someone had his hands on the ball in that instance, and it wasn't the Eagles player, if you catch my drift.

Unbelievable effort from the cats considering how many players were out. The skill level was mostly superior to the eagles, but a handful of crucial mistakes probably cost us the game...and the missed free kick to Hawkins at the end didn’t help.

People also need to remember we went in without a ruckman against the best ruckman in the competition right now. Nic Nat absolutely dominated and had Fort/Stanley played instead of Esava running around the middle turning it over that sets them back a few goals.

No we didn’t. We had Blicavs and Ratagolea. When it suits people Blicavs is absolutely called a ruckman on here. Problem was Natanui slaughtered both of them in the second half.

I rate Ratugolea despite his poor turnovers. I think he gets to all the right contests and presents as a big target which is always what you want from those type of players. He finished with 11 disposals and 2 contested grabs but did not kick that goal when he was almost directly out in front. That is inexcusable for a key forward.
Good news, he's still raw and very young.

Has to be persevered with.

Dangerfield was very poor. Came to life in the 2nd half but poor from him tonight.
Menegola disappeared in the 2nd half. Parfitt was very quiet as well and we could not stop Kelly, Yeo or Sheed from doing as they pleased in that last term.

Why does he have to be persevered with? He can be dropped, traded or delisted. No player must be persevered with. He is a liability and plays the most important positions on the field.

lol, lining up for goal, admittedly, was a tough angle, you always knew he was 100% missing it given the tense circumstances.
Yet, if we were up by 4 goals and he's having that same kick, it's a goal.

Played on one of the greatest athletes this game has ever seen and did well in the first half.

Of course, Blicavs costing us a couple of crucial goals late in the 4th quarter will go unnoticed as it's all on Ratugolea the 37 gamer.

How he has won two Carji's can be blamed soley on Scarlett.

Scarlo is a great of this club but must be shown the door. Our defence is lacking run, is far too tall and is unbalanced and poor under pressure. Yet they persist with the same structure. Watch Zac Guthrie play next week. Another slow, indecisive plodder.

Also, teams with poor ruck socks have won plenty of flags ... it's the positioning of our midfielders that let's us down and that's all on our midfield coach. It's been a problem for years and nobody can see it.

Just thought I'd get this out there as it's been bugging me a while:

We can all agree that we don't rate Parfitt, yes?

And even those of you who do, acknowledge that he won't ever be the player to carry a midfield, yes?

He's a good third string midfielder in a midfield rotation.

So why are so many of you ripping into him? He's performing exactly how he should. If he's only ever going to be a 3rd or even 4th string midfielder, why are so many of you surprised that (Only in his 4th season mind you) he's an inconsistent, often ineffective player.

He's exactly what we expected him to be!!!!

If we thought he could be the midfield leader we need in the coming years we wouldn't still be chasing a Danger/Selwood replacement. You know why we are chasing that replacement? Because there isn't one currently in an ideal age bracket on our list.

Reckon it's gotta be system based.
By that I mean, it has got to be something to do with how we utilise our forward line. No one seems to have big influences on games unless they kick goals.

Dahlhaus, Rohan, Atkins, Fogarty, Sav. Even Hawkins can sometimes get isolated. Miers sometimes gets involved as he has the endurance to go further up the field.

The slow and stagnant method of our play combined with the hap-hazard delivery surely is stunting performances?
Gaz aside as he is elite with his ball use so can have an impact off 10 touches.

Agree about Rata. He should be dropped but you don’t trade a guy out like him. He’s going to take a while. He may not get there but he might. He needs to be practising his disposal under match simulation. Under pressure his handball was woeful.

Danger is really starting to piss me off. Great player but arrogant. To totally dismiss his opponent is just not good enough.

Kolo is an ongoing liability. We need to find another option. He provides no run out of defence. Shits himself still under pressure.

We did a lot better than I thought we’d do, pretty good effort but a few dumb decisions and poor skills let us down. Eagles are a better side than us full stop and play a bit smarter. We aren’t to bad a side I just don’t think we are smart enough.
Good games to Guthrie, Stewart and a couple others, shit games to Parfitt, Kolo, Blitz and Sav.
If an injured ruck is ready next week they come in at Sav’s expense, enough is enough. And if Selwood is fit he replaces Parfitt, I’m way over him.

The issue came up again. The pressure goes up we crumble. Finals like intensity and the usual suspects can't handle it. Henry, parfitt, Ratagolea, Miers don't like the heat and it shows.
