People bagging Sav are off their heads. He competed well against the best ruckman in the game. He provided a target and worked hard all night. Anyone calling for his head clearly doesn’t have any depth in their understanding of football.

and the fact those same posters bag Sav and give Rohan a free pass, goea to show how truly stupid they really are. 3 possessions. All night. He’s a hack who CAN NOT Be TRUSTED. Similarly, Fogarty looks a million miles off. And constable May have had it a bit, but he doesn’t create, doesn’t hurt sides when he gets rid of the ball, and he is lazy defensively.

Just thought I'd get this out there as it's been bugging me a while:

We can all agree that we don't rate Parfitt, yes?

And even those of you who do, acknowledge that he won't ever be the player to carry a midfield, yes?

He's a good third string midfielder in a midfield rotation.

So why are so many of you ripping into him? He's performing exactly how he should. If he's only ever going to be a 3rd or even 4th string midfielder, why are so many of you surprised that (Only in his 4th season mind you) he's an inconsistent, often ineffective player.

He's exactly what we expected him to be!!!!

If we thought he could be the midfield leader we need in the coming years we wouldn't still be chasing a Danger/Selwood replacement. You know why we are chasing that replacement? Because there isn't one currently in an ideal age bracket on our list.

Just my 2 cents

Cheers

The part I'm confused by is why people have such huge expectations on parfitt. A 2nd round pick and I'm sure most people can name several taken before him that are worse. No one should be expecting him to carry the midfield. I think he's tracking along nicely considering his injury run tbh

Can't help but think Guthrie playing on and getting caught was a major turning point in the game. Little things like that and others in the last 5 mins or so cost us the win.
Actually thought he should of been brought back behind the mark. Poor umpiring in my book. Agreed that it was a huge turning point.

Really seems like the last piece of the puzzle is goal scorer at ground level. A Michael Walters or Tom Papley would have gotten you the win with those last few entries. Can be proud of how the Cattas played. The Eagles are in great form. At least you've got a proper song.
I think playing Rohan as a third tall isn't having the both-ways ground level impact we were hoping for.

I thought Sav played ok. Tackling was excellent. Made a couple of costly errors, and against Goldstein next week, will be tested again, but he's got to keep playing. If lack of effort was in question, sure, but blaming him is ridiculous.
I agree kind of. I love his effort. I love how he contests everything too.
But he just can't kick. It's a bit poor by him (and the club too) that he hasn't improved his kicking over the pre-season and the Corona pre-season.
I think he should have a break and really think about how much extra effort he wants to put into this if he wants to make it.

It was a good game of football that - i enjoyed it - pity we just couldnt get the win

Nic Nat was unstoppable in that last quarter

I thought Henderson did ok - he will keep his spot - its good to have an old fashioned defender who actually knows what he is doing

Geelong primed themselves for tonight - however they could be as flat as pancakes against North ( understandable given the travel and short break )

Rohan's been allright this year IMO, but yeah the 2 worst finals performers in the league in the past 10 years.
Probably the 2 worst I've ever seen TBH.

that's fair I reckon; yes he will always have a question mark next to his name until he performs to somewhere near his potential in a Final; that's fair enough.
In the meantime, he often provides some genuine entertainment with his pretty unique skillset.

Tonight he just seemed to kind of concede that it wasn't his night and that's not good enough from a player of his experience.
His home & away form this year has been ok; he's worked hard and affected contests with his hard running whether that is looked upon highly or not.

Are you an advocate of Kruger's? Are they comparable?

I like what Rohan provides when he is at his best, and as I've already said, he is very watch-able. But his sh*tty Finals record speaks for itself and can always be held against him. There's always one or two getting around the comp like that; Leon Davis leaps to mind.

On a positive note, Close actually impressed me more tonight than he did on debut last week, even though the hype was bigger against Freo. Thought he did a few clever things tonight.
Didn't do a great deal but he's clean and composed when involved, more than you can say for half our list plenty to work with there.

From our great team of early 21st century we have shat the bed at any some of pressure in the Scott error.

This is what I’ll remember from the Scott error. From that 2013 prelim choke to tonight, that is synonymous with us under Scott. It is a record on repeat. It was a gallant effort tonight given our outs but it played EXACTLY to script.

We supporters see it. I’m dumbfounded the media have not caught on to it and actually put pressure on our coaching staff. And even more dumbfounded we have not fixed this critical issue for the better part of a decade.

Infuriating

Did you like when one of the commentators said he couldn't understand how Scott has any critics? Obviously they haven't watched any of our finals in the last eight seasons.

Exactly this.

But an awful lot of people will pretend he's going to magically turn it around.

Just watched the last 5 minutes again Geez we made so many critical little errors. Missed handballs, poor decision making that cost us the win. Had it inside 50 enough during those last 5 minutes. Not to mention also a couple of crucial frees that went against us too.

Rohan drops too many marks, counted 3 or 4 tonight where he was in prime position and didn't hold it, if he's going to essentially play key position he needs to be far better.

Pretty close to it.

Scary how low his expectations are that it doesn't get more attention. He's been a senior footballer for a decade and this is the garbage he routinely - and under pressure predictably - serves up. Amazing.
Maybe. He was pretty amazing early last year but I think everyone will be hitting the limit soon enough

Whoever we replace Rohan with will not be like Rohan. He's effectively a third tall who can out-sprint basically anyone. I think the replacement for him will either be a Kreuger genuine 3rd marking tall playing a bit like the crows Tom Lynch or a smaller type like Jarvis who is aiming to be a bit of a woollies essentials version Jordan Degoey. Either way it's a big change to structure and how we try to shape entries so can't see him being dropped soon

I actual think he was pretty good. That entry for our first goal was really well composed and his attack on the ball carrier was pretty relentless. Not sure if others see what I've been seeing

Just too gassed to hit a target. Disappointing but it was off the back of having a genuine dig

My immediate thought was we had ran out of legs, which is understandable off a 5 day break in horrendous conditions the game before, makes you question why we didnt make a few changes going into the game though.

haha I like that DeGoey/Woollies Essentials comparison; that is bang on. Maybe a bit Rooke-like, hopefully.
That would certainly be going down a different path to what Rohan offers. Rohan's not shy, but he just can't absorb contact, he's got the highest centre of gravity imaginable.

I'm sold on a Jarvis debut; let's have a look at him, maybe he'll be lumpy enough to stand up in a final.
Never been as excited about Kruger as some; I'm not sure why, hope he proves me wrong at some point.
