What the hell kind of sporting organization grants a team a new license when that team doesn’t even have a ground to play on.

So what did it go like this

A league- “so just to confirm where exactly are you going to play your games until you finished building your new stadium.

West Melbourne FC- “ yeah we are going to play down in Geelong At Kardinia park, we haven’t organized anything with them down there but it will be fine”

A league- “Fantastic welcome to the A league”

I agree that it is bizarre.

But, given how the FFA has conducted themselves over many years, I can't say I'm greatly surprised.

Seems they only ever make the news to have their latest act of gross incompetence laid bare before a bemused public.

In any case, I still suspect they're less corrupt than FIFA. Which is probably the very definition of 'damning with faint praise'.

If we want other sports at our Stadium ... then we dont need negative stuff like this... we need .."wow cant wait to com back again" or eventually what we will see is a demand for a rectangle stadium for Geelongs rectangle sports..

A-League 2018-19: GMHBA Stadium change rooms a ‘hole’, says Newcastle Jets coach Ernie Merrick

NEWCASTLE coach Ernie Merrick has slammed GMHBA Stadium’s facilities, saying his team was forced to get ready in “a horrible little hole of a changing room”.
Speaking after his side’s 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory in Geelong on Saturday night, a furious Merrick took a swipe at the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, adding Newcastle had lodged a formal complaint over the standard of the facilities.

Merrick was baffled at the size of the changerooms given to his side and said there was no airconditioning despite the mercury heading towards 40C.

Newcastle and Victory both came out of the Hickey Stand, where there are two sets of changerooms — a main set, which are used by away AFL teams, and a smaller set, which are typically used by curtain-raiser teams.

“I don’t know if you’ve seen our changing room, but our changing room was like a cupboard, it was like Harry Potter’s changing room,” Merrick said.

“It was absolutely tiny and there was no air conditioner. We were crammed into a tiny little place.

“That’s not Victory’s fault, that’s Kardinia Park and it’s a real disappointment that we had to change and get ready in a horrible little hole of a changing room for an A-League match.

I guess the trust was throwing shade by putting them in the secondary changing rooms.

Kinda funny considering how seriously the A-League wants to be taken but never is.

Merrick making a song and dance probably ensures it doesn't happen that way again.

Which should mean that our stadium doesn't continue to cop negative press about its accommodation of different sports.

Imagine how hard he would have gone if they had lost.;)

Sounds pretty dumb on the stadiums behalf putting them in the small changerooms. Whose bonehead idea was that?

Never heard any complaints before this, so im assuming its the first time they have done it?

I dont understand .. IF there was not AFL requirement ..why not give them the best possible. ITs in AFL interest to have happy alt sports. At least till stage 5 etc is done and paid for.

The two big change rooms would be the two AFL ones - either side of the ground right?

With soccer it seems to be tradition that the two teams would out side by side which would mean that Newcastle either had to be in the rooms beside MV, be placed on the side of the stadium and make there way around the stadium to walk out together or walk out separately from the other side of the stadium

Interesting that this is the first complaint from the games that have been held there, especially as they have played games in high heat before

Merrick: We are not animals! We are soccer players!!!

The AFL and AFLW changerooms are in the Brownlow stand, aren't they?

That's what I thought - that as part of the development of the Brownlow Stand that they built facilities for our women's teams, and I'd assume they'd build it bigger than shoe box

Probs should've had aircon. Was preety hot.
But it's only soccer. Thought they'd just get changed in the carpark or something.

DAT'S BECOZ IT'S A WOGZ SPORT 4 ****S M8!!

GHMBA has to become to a multi purpose venue to help justify all the money spunked on it. If people just see it as a footy ground then you're going to be disappointed in years to come.

Not true. Few ex Poms seem to get into it, and campaigners who like letting off flares.

Ohhhh we used to DREAM of gettin' changed in a janitor's cabinet! Woulda' been a palace to us. We used t' get changed in an old water tank on a rubbish tip.
Oh la di da Look at Mr Fancypants getting changed in an ol water tank, we used to dream of having a water tank to get changed in would have thought it was the Taj Mahal a water tank. We had to walk 15mile just to get to the cardboard box we used to get changed in then walk 15miles back to play.
A water tank my lord
