Seriously
What is it with the amount of posters in here calling North a " less talented team"
That less talented team just smacked our arses
Maybe arses is where a few people should extract their heads from

They aren't mutually exclusive.
The sun can shine on a dogs arse some days.
Norf are bang average and a 8-14 team just like we are.
And when two average teams play, you just need to be off 5% and it gets ugly.

Disappointing loss but encouraging 2nd half effort aside has anyone out there seen a more rubbish display of umpiring? I'm not even sure what the rules are anymore after that dogs morning meal.
The AFL definately shouldn't be paying those three clowns their wages this week..........
Or should they?

Disappointing result. The Roos deserved the win. Great first half from them.

Breust, Scilily, Smith and Impey were the standouts in our comeback in the third for mine. Shiels was consistent and reliable until his injury.

Don’t normally bag our players, but it does seem we are a better team without Frawley.

Ben McEvoy, Mitchell and JOM wasn’t their greatest performances, so hoping for improved effort from them next week.

Glass, Howe, Hardwick, cousins and Mirra all shown glimpses of what they can provide, and hopefully continue to improve, where their mistakes become fewer.

*Edit* knew there was some one I missed in the last group which is Morrison. My bad.

Wizz is sick of Howe plodding around flat footed. He had lots of mates today. Duryea, Glass, OBrien, OMeara, Frawley, all tres ordinaire. In fact very tres ordinaire.
Wizz also hope his eyes were deceiving him when Morrison went at a contest in the last qtr.
We lick our wounds to quote Clarko and move on to a resurgent St Kilda next week. Big game in the scheme of things, but they all are. It is what it is.

Hawthorn once had a little bloke that was flat footed running around in the No.5.
Was only quick over the first 2m and had a great juke move.
Can't remember his name, but don't believe it held back his career.
Got traded out of the club though, so maybe I'm wrong.

Despite our outstanding coach, we are still clearly in need of more A grade talent. Not enough depth right now and you simply can’t make strawberry jam out of pig shit. We will hopefully stay competitive this year and then pick up some more talent at the end of the year to fill the obvious gaps.

Point we’ll missed....

My issue is that they were out, yet our plan with regard to forward entries didn’t change. Surely with those 2x out, you change your plan to bomb in long & apply forward pressure to lock it in?

I thought we were going with Hardwick as a lead up forward after that first foray. Didn't last long.

Yeah a lot of our players had shockers and quite a few Skintboners had blinders. But remember we have a lot of young inexperienced players.

How do we move forward. Keep turning up each week and see what we really lack.

And it is not hard to see what we lack.

Aerial superiority. Our current bunch of talls just can't mark. I know that many would say bring in Lewis and anyone else over 195 but that is just more kids into the team. But Brand Must come in.

Absolutely horrific loss, that 1st half was borderline scarring...... We responded which was good but in summary just pathetic.

Need to bounce back strong next week against a rejuvenated Saints in Tasmania.

Tom Mitchell brownlow hopes in tatters? can someone confirm? Just going off the hyperbolic bullshit im reading on the AFL website.

Looking at the replays of the incidents you wouldnt think burton has too much to worry about suspension wise, Tom on the other hand... probs a weeks break. Just seems the mental application is lacking at times (a common developing side Issue). Ah well these things happen , kudos to North they outworked us. Interesting to see what happens at the selection table this week.

Is there something I’m not understanding regarding Burton’s performances this year? Did I miss a serious injury or pre season disruption? Because he looks disinterested, slow, and a shadow of the young player of last year.

Burton is certainly a concern. Last year, looked potentially elite, composed and classy.

This year he's been bog average, looks confused and completely lacking in confidance. Problem is, going back to box hill seems pointless as he's above that standard.

Do we try him forward?
Midfield?

His drop off has been a concern

Yes we do have a long way to go. We desperately need talls who can mark

So what’s your guys assessment of Burton’s bump?

Have you come here to argue and stir or do you really want to know. My answer is what is your assessment on Higgins' bump.

We took the game on for one quarter and look what happened. We don't have the a good enough forward line to move the ball slowly and bomb it to contested situation. It killed us against Richmond and again today.

Frawley has to get dropped. He's a liability out there at the moment. As is Tim O'Brien. Defenders must be licking their lips coming up against him as they can zone off him to mark/kill the contest and he's not dangerous enough to make you pay. He had 7 disposals, 0 marks, 1 tackle and 0 goals. Can't carry him any longer.

The biggest worry for mine is Burton. He just looks lost out there. He seems slow, disinterested and is playing with zero urgency. JOM had probably his worse game of the season, he's still finding his way. Impey looks a great pick up, was suprised to see he only had 15 touches. His influence on the game seemed greater than that. Breust, Hendo, Smith, Sicily and Cousins were all solid.

Next week I'd like to see quicker ball movement and a far better effort than that first half. North seemed like they had 2 extra on the field as they were prepared to run so much harder than us to get numbers at the contest. We didn't even seem prepared to gut run to create options when we won the ball back. We still managed to lose the tackle count for the first half despite consistently being second to the ball.

Also, Shoey in for TOB. Whilst it's only a stop gap solution as Shoey has plenty of limitations, but I feel more confident in his ability to get to/create a contest.

So what’s your guys assessment of Burton’s bump?

Bump was fine. Good bump actually. incidental contact to head via head clash which knocked out Higgins.

Depends on how they look at it. There was a time when if you bumped duty of care was with you, including head knocks. But I think they changed that.
Time will tell.

I doubt think buttons intention was to Ko Higgins, and the bump itself was body to body
