Hawthorn wear pink, the same color as what a runner usually wears (which means the common reflex action is to ignore or avoid these people).
Brisbane wear jumpers with yellow backs with dark numbers (very similar to Hawthorn's normal jumper).

This must have been confusing the players.

Agree with this, it was a farce.
I believe it would affect the players too when your instinct is to get it out to a jumper with gold on it. Should have saved the pink jumper for another round.
