Ive seen on BF and demonland about a possible Johnstone and Miller for Buchanan and #11.
I think the fairer trade would be Johnstone and Miller for Buchanan and 2nd round pick.
What do you think?

In short, no.

Buchanan is still only 24 and has about 4 years on Johnstone who flashes in and out of games. Not only that, Buchanan symbolizes everything our gameplan revolves around and is a lot more valuable to us than what Johnstone would be.

Miller hasn't produced his best and i wouldn't want to give up our 2nd rounder, let alone our 1st rounder for him.

I wouldn't trade Buchanan for either of those guys. We're better off going for Sherman as opposed to Johnstone. He's much younger and is more explosive. We need pace through the middle and Johnstone doesn't provide that.

Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. Johnstone only adds to our ageing problem. Miller had been struggling and even with our record at turning people around, still a massive risk and he plays a lot older than a 24 yr old (in a bad way).

I wouldn't trade Buchanan for the pair of them, let alone with a #11 pick. In fact, I don't want to see Johnstone in a Swans shirt - he should retire a demon and that's better for both the teams, in my opinion.

Buchanan WILL be traded as I think he has been a naughty boy & has fallen out of favour with the leaders at the Swans.

Ask yourselves why he didn't play the final after serving his suspension.

Make no mistake! Buchanan is the one Roosy has had on his mind when talking about that anyone could be traded!

Well if he is indeed traded, do we need to recycle the likes of Miller or getting the ageing legs of Travis Johnstone onto our ageing midfield? He's not exactly Paul Williams, who looks after himself really well. I would rather trade him to Geelong and hopefully get Prismall. Or at least Tenace and a pick. Not Travis Johnstone, no thanks.

Miller ( a player who can't get in to 3rd worst side in the comp) plus Johnstone ( a dissappointment at Demonland) for pick 11 on its own.

Miller is worthless on his own, Buchanan is more valuable than Johnstone.

I agree, no good getting Travis Johnston, we already have a number of his type of players roaming through our midfield, only with better skills

Miller is an interesting one - I didn't realise he was so young, wouldn't mind at all if we used a second round pick to snare him, could be useful forward or back.

If Monty is to go, I would assume it would be to a Melbourne club, but a better trade would be

Monty and Pick #11 to Brisbane for
Sherman and Wood

Although I am with the rest of you I dont want the swans to use their pick 11, but if this deal came up I would jump at it - Sherman is still only 20, and is well worth pick 11 IMHO

You taking the piss or what?
He is one of the most skillful players I have ever seen. When on song, he rips teams apart, unfortunately hes too hot and cold. I have never seen a player who can pull a kick 50m and hit the target so often.

Yes taking the piss

Dont get me wrong on his day he goes pretty good, but IMO his value has declined because of exactly what you mentioned he goes missing a fair bit, and personally I think he is a little soft. Also his age makes it less attractive as well

Ever heard of a bloke named Goodes? There the no D'head policy up here Trav's picture is in the "Not to be recruited" manual as a good example

I think you're the one takin the pee..... just what every club needs a hot and cold underachiever at the end of their career and a Sandi regular from a struggling club.... sheesh are you hoping to make Monty captain/ coach?

Good luck did you realise there is a "Regional Footy" Board on BF...Might
get some nibbles there in the Riverina league?;)

He's 28 and has had 3 full seasons in the past 7 years. If he's that well regarded down in Melbourne then please keep him.

There are reasons why Melbourne fans are happy to trade away a former no.1 pick who could and should be a 200 gamer. And I don't want him because of those very reasons.

God no. Johnstone hasn't done SFA for 2 years and can't get himself 100% fit.

Miller, **** NO! Hack of the highest order.

If we were to go for anyone, it may as well be Prismall as he is the most realistic target.

Sydney for once should use their full gamut of trades on youngsters instead of trading away their early picks. If you're not careful you could end up like Carlton...

The AFL will never allow it. Anyway i do think Sydney have some good youth coming through. Players like Barlow, Bird, Jack, Schmidt, Mathew Davis and Heath Grundy are the future and i think they are all decent players.

Fair enough but when will Roos actually start playing them. I can only recall a couple (schmidt, maybe k jack) playing regular senior games this year from that list.

Flash meet Nick Malceski

He can pull a kick 50m and hit a target VERY often and to boot he ISN'T a hot and cold player like Johnstone, plus he isn't injury prone and he is younger and he is faster.

So again tell us why Sydney as a club would be interested in Johnstone, when logic suggests we aren't interested in him, have a player in our senior team better than him who is younger and is relieable to perform week in and week out and we as a club are looking to get younger not older?

As for the Amon Buchanan rumours, he copped club suspension during the home and away season for a week (when he was dropped to the reserves), but that had nothing to do with him missing the Final. Team Balance was the reason after the big win over Hawthorn in Round 22 and not wanting to make too many changes, only the Hall change.

As for trading him, yes his name will be floated around to other clubs in hope of getting draft picks or players in return (pretty much like Fosdike was a few year ago). But other than a mid round 2nd Round Draft Pick I doubt we'll get much for him go of the blue because he doesn't want to leave and we don't want to trade him unless the right deal is offered.

Expect to see him not be traded unless something big tradewise comes up and what "Demonland" has offered isn't even close to the mark.
