Or just charge CFOs of tech companies that are producing superior products then drop prosecutions years later, or accuse them of being spies when it’s just what you’ve been doing all along.

Instead of obsessing about Huawei they should’ve payed attention to fellow Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi which topped worldwide sales a few months back, and has solidly overtaken Apple for spot number two all year. Add in Oppo and Vivo and soon Chinese smartphones will have a 50% share of the world market. I guess we’ll hear about all of them being a “threat to national security” soon too.....

Their mantra is racial and cultural superiority over everyone else, they don't want the normal sort of international rules and standards to apply to them because they are "special". The USA is the only genuine world power with the ability to contain China. But this is a reaction to China's provocation, it is not some sort of unprovoked aggression toward China. Forget all this stuff you have heard or read for the last 20 years about the peaceful rise of China, about engaging with China in peaceful trade and co-existence. All of that is obsolete since Pooh has taken over the leadership. They are still thinking in the really old terms of China being the centre of the world, Chinese people being a separate race different to the rest of humanity (they teach a version of human evolution that humans did not all originate in Africa but developed separately in various places). Everyone non Chinese is therefore some sort of inferior being and deserves to be ruled over by the Chinese. Pooh is just a another Chinese emperor with a new title. The US has done everything you listed and worse, to numerous people the world over. Where are the nearest Chinese military bases to the US, and how does that compare with vice versa?

Ultimately we should want both parties to de-escalate but it's absurd to lump it all on China, and ultimately this is a conflict we should stay neutral in (as we should have with the earlier Cold War). The people who will pay for it most won't be us though, or Americans or the Chinese. Just as the half century after 1945 saw horrific slaughter in Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Brazil, Guatemala etc, so it will be the poorest people in the world who suffer now.

Lol China isn’t invading Taiwan. These are the delusions of a decaying empire that thinks other countries have the same lust for war as they do.

They used these same fears to justify various conflicts throughout the Cold War, despite a fair criticism of the Soviet Union being their reluctance to aid post-colonial socialist states. The New Cold War is every bit as baseless and hysterical as the old one, but sadly seems to be as effective in whipping up the panic (even if it isn’t going to see the comparative improvement in life quality that was seen by your average citizen of the First World through the 1940s to 1970s).

It is already underway.

There is not ever going to be a big ships and missiles and fancy planes was between the US and China. That could quickly escalate into something that leaves both sides incinerated in a nuclear holocaust.

The big play now is for the US to gin up a jihad in Xinjiang. The rushed withdrawal from Afghanistan left all the weapons needed for that (no need for weapons ratlines from Libya to Syria etc like in 2011).

The Taliban are being set up to return to their previous incarnation as the brave warriors of the Mujahideen who took on the godless commies.

That's how you beat China.

You create a long and grinding and brutal insurgency out west.

You want mothers in the big cities protesting in the streets at their sons being turned into catmeat by IEDs on dusty roads outside Urumqi.

Bombings on the subway in Shanghai. Years and years of it.

That creates the internal pressures and "disharmony" that the CCP fears.

And that effort is underway right now. The US will likely be successful to some degree as well.
