still have a long way to go
at this stage we wont be winning it
They thumped youseOP going off half cocked again.
Thought last month Eagles seemed to be back in the zone but then Hawks flogged them in that final matchNone of the past 3 flags winners had a 'back to back' vibe to them, you can just tell.
Tiges could very well win 2 in 3 years, which is awesome, but still not as great an achievement or as prestigious as back to back.
Again, it just goes to show how insanely ridiculously difficult it is to achieve, let alone 3 in a row!
Collingwood and Geelong supporters need to thank Hawthorn for their fortunes?Thought last month Eagles seemed to be back in the zone but then Hawks flogged them in that final match
They are a good side West Coast but this year was your classic post premiership season. Flashes of brilliance and then off the boil not just across games but within them.
With NicNat back to full fitness next year they are a top 4 team for sure
Certainly Collingwood benefitted. Not sure we as muchCollingwood and Geelong supporters need to thank Hawthorn for their fortunes?
They would have had to beat us at the G anyway. And they couldn't. If we played them in the Granny they would have travelled a week after a Prelim at Optus.Collingwood and Geelong supporters need to thank Hawthorn for their fortunes?
Sadly yes, not our year we were well and truly beaten. Need to work on improving for next yearThey would have had to beat us at the G anyway. And they couldn't. If we played them in the Granny they would have travelled a week after a Prelim at Optus.
They weren't good enough when it mattered and we were better. Clear as day.
haven't read previous 20 pages of tripe.Of all time man!
The Dogs had only lost 2 more games than Sydney, though, it wasn't really as a big contrast, it's more remarkable they did it without the double chance, though, but I'd probably put Hawthorn's 2008 victory as more of a shocker considering their opponent.Dogs ‘16 had to travel to Perth, return to Melbourne and travel to Sydney en route to the 2016 flag.
7th places H and A finish, lost their captain to an ACL injury, Redpath and Wallis out LTI’s.
Also Dogs played the #1 seeded Sydney Swans.
Drug cheat in the teamThese guys weren't even tipped to make the 8 pre-season. Mitchell and Priddis gone meant a lot of experience, as well as Brownlow medals went out the window. The most important and influential player for WCE, and one of if not the best ruckmen in the comp goes down injured in Nit Nat. Gaff, an ALL-Australian and a bloke that was tipped to be runner up in the Brownlow misses a lot of football due to his punch on the young Freo lad. And Sheppard, a player who emerged the last few years as one of the key defenders in the game goes down in the first qualifier against Collingwood. 5 goals down in the first quarter, the ghosts of 2015 re-visited, a host of missed chances late on yet they still find a way to win despite all of this. Balls of steel and a mind like no other. I think this win is as good as the Doggies in 2016 and as good as any other premiership in the history of VFL/AFL.
West Coast Eagles - Could not be beaten. Mentality of a warrior.
Was this the best win or the most hardest for any side to obtain in the history of footy?
Edited - Since the West Coast Eagles great triumph over Collingwood 6 months ago, they again loom as one of, if not, THE Favourites of them all. Amazing depth, great structure, impeccable game plan and a masterclass Coach. The Eagles have what it takes to once again be on the big stage in the final day of the 2019 AFL Calendar.
It's not a question if they can go back to back. Because we all know they're capable. The main question that needs answering is,
Will the Eagles go Back to Back in Season 2019?
agreedNot the best but not the worst premiership defence.
I hope this year spurs them on to go up another level and actually string four quarters together more consistently. We saw glimpses but in the end 5th was an accurate reflection of where we were at. Having Naitanui play more than 20 games would be an immense help while we are still in the window.
Onwards to 2020.
