Very disappointing that the sick pay guarantee for casual workers has been removed.
Yep and mental health and well pretty much anything that isn't the usual

It was the cheapest, there is no disputing that, but it is also funnelling all traffic onto the biggest bottleneck on the Eastern Fwy already, sounds like a great plan…

SRL will never get anywhere near the airport
Technically the Airport line is SRL airport.
Are we sure they haven't misplaced a decimal point on the Airport Rail? $1.2 Billion seems more believable.

Even if done by a Tunnel I cant see how it could cost $12 Billion.
A lot of stuffing around has to be done at Albion.

And one of the biggest advantages of NEL is getting to the airport instead of building the airport rail link!

As would have the EW link on the Tullamarine.

Citylink had to be fixed with the south Melbourne connector, even that needed a tweak after the Tulla eastbound. Still does.

East link and peninsula link seem to have fared best, let’s hope NEL is similar

Commercial traffic. Trucks etc. what’s clogging Buleen Heidelberg and the Footscray area now.

It’s not going by public transport. More likely to go by cargo bike

Cost of living crisis ? Sure lets throw some money at GMHBA!!! Sighh

Hot air balloon taxi service!!

Regarding the 4.1m for the gmhba stadium screen, since you wrote that the government has almost spent more than that much servicing their debt!!!!

At least the screen is a one off payment, which adds some value to a community.

Andrews and Labor have hurt Victorians so badly with this debt!

A train you catch from the airport. You don't have to leave a train station to get from the airport to the CBD.

As premier Jeff once said, the vast majority will need to change somewhere. Suburban or country stations would be better than loop stations for air passengers with large suitcase

"Fully costed, fully funded" - Dan Andrews.
When you hear about government finances and spending in the news, it's easy to get lost. The terminology is strange and confusing, and every issue is so politically charged that half of the facts we hear are badly distorted, or outright lies. Additionally, the numbers are all of a scale that we simply don't deal with in our daily lives, billions of dollars goes right over our heads. Which means that most of the analogies that we try to make between government finances and our own personal finances are grossly inappropriate. However, we are dealing with the legacy of Dan Andrews here and the mess he has left this state in that will take generations to recover.

Thanks to the wonderful dream world of Dan Andrews, we are $190 billion in debt and Jacinta is not nodding her head now! My fellow Victorians have gone mad under Dan the man in the past 15 years, absolutely mad! This is what we're left with.

Elevated Sections around Albion junction.
Bridge over Deep Creek.
Bridge over Ring Road (prob have to move power lines too).
Grade separated along Airport Avenue.
The final station is planned above the elevated roads (above departures drive), so the ramping up starts kilometres back.

The underground would require significant retaining structures, cut into rock and huge excavation in probably contaminated soil.

Plus you have to build the station and buy more trains, and the signalling and power infrastructure.

Will be very interested to see how this plays out in reality... $400 per kid is quite a bit, particularly for early Primary years who are unlikely to go on camps.

Given the payments are going directly to the schools I would imagine Principals and Business Managers are currently trying to figure out how much of this they can syphon off given their inability to compel families to make levy payments....
It's not really that much when you factor in uniforms, excursions and extracurricular stuff like music. I have two kids doing optional music/singing lessons during school hours which costs about $2500 a year all up. Uniforms are ridiculously priced too, it's something like $40 for a polo etc it all adds up to several hundred a year overall.

From the last State election, not that long ago! A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver a billion-dollar surplus in the next term, with Labor's Financial Statement 2022 today confirming all of our election promises are fully funded and fully-costed.
Jacinta has her hands full cleaning up this mess despite her nodding in agreement with it all at the time!

its an inefficient way of moving people or frieght

we should have a much better freight network via rail as well but we're reliant on trucks for everything because they lobby to make sure they stay in business

From the Bald Archy Arts Show 2024- “Dan (Teflon) Andrews consistently demonstrated his utter inability to be held accountable for his decisions whilst in power... Now retired, he walks away unscathed leaving Victoria in absolute Shambles and having to answer to no one” by the artist.

He should be held accountable for what damage he has done. I don't blame Jacinta so much, she had no choice to nod her head in agreement or face the chop. Dan Andrews will go down in history as the worst premier this state has ever had.

its really not

every road has a finite amount of load it can handle

more traffic on the roads means more congestion

building roads encourages road use

its been proven time and time again that building more roads doesn't fix the problems that lead to building more roads in the first place

as populations grow you need better methods to move things where they need to go, you can't build your way out of this by just making more bigger roads
