AFL Autopsy JLT 1: 9 point loss to Carlton

Would have liked to see Draper named. Will be interesting to see how the Blues line up, looks as if they've named 5 key forwards in their squad.

I wonder what’s up with Myers. Thought his preseason had been as good as he’s had and would be a Monty first up.
I’d say it would’ve always been a plan to play some of the older guys in just the 1 JLT. Daresay guys like Hurley, Smack and Zaka might miss the 2nd

Hey guys, just want to let you know that I respect the Essendon Long Sleeve jumper.. It’s an an absolute classic.. I was telling the lads in the Carlton forum that watching Jimmy hird in the long sleeve jumper in the 90’s is what dreams are made of. But the Carlton long sleeve is the best in the Comp.. Essendon is close to top 3.. but just wanted to get that off my chest before we do battle tomorrow. I don’t reckon we will see a long sleeve tomorrow.. but I’m gonna turn the aircon up in the loungeroom and stream the game on kayo wearing the famous Carlton long sleeve number 14 (Sexton) and have a couple beers.

I just hope for hell we arent playing 4 tall defenders ie: Ambrose, Hurley, Hartley and Francis (One will be Hooker come season proper). We only need 3 of those.

We have a kid called Ridley whos seriously decent and perfect mould as the 4th defender. With no Gleeson his intercepting is important and he can at least kick and set up plays unlike Ambrose can. Perfect opportunity for him ... why not use him now?

Want to see him and Guelfi given every opportunity down back and not be too tall and ordinary by foot.

Ridley is named on the bench

There's like 8 players on the bench. There's going to be spares for every role. Don't think we'll be going in with McKernan, Daniher, Brown and Stringer together up forward in the regular season either.

I like the team picked - if I was coach for tonight ;) I'd have them line up like this;-

Francis Hartley McKenna
Ridley Hurley Saad
Zakka Heppell McGrath
Tippa Brown Smith
Stringer Daniher Baguley

Z.Clarke Shiel Z.Merrett

Bench from: Parish Langford Laverde Guelfi Long Jok Ambrose McKernan

Pretty close to full strength - the obvious 3 missing from best 22 in previous years are: Fantasia, Bellcho & Hooker.
Gleeson & Myers will also get plenty of senior games & I'd hope Begley is also playing next JLT and pushing for round 1 senior selection

Comon Bombers! :p:moustache:

After the serious AFLW and AFLX stuff, it's a bit of a let down to go back to JLT Micky Mouse level stuff but I'm excited all the same!

Funny, you know how well it works?

I'm running what is admittedly a bit of a beast of a Dell on Windows 7 Professional.

Thing still runs like the day I got it, in 2012.
Yeah it's bloody great; I work in marketing for an IT firm and love it, but Windows 10 is a massive step up nowadays.

I'm also amazed that we're still talking about Operating Systems when footy is on tonight tbh

I look forward to coming in here post match and watch as people tear shreds into players for not hitting targets or missing goals with poor match skills in early March.

Then, and only then, will footy be back good and proper!

The most interesting thing for me about tonight will be the kick outs, of the new rules this one is the most different, Curious to see how the teams go about it.
Advantage McKenna/Saad.

Yeah will be interesting if they get the job more often than not, And on the defensive side what type of player stands the mark.
I'd always go with Walla/Fanta/Smith
