or gets carried away and kicks into the man on the mark
19m from the goal line to where the defender will be standing, surely they won't be kicking into the man on the mark!

you'd hope not, depends on how well they judge their ability to run it out and the speed of the man on the mark

Amazing that 3 years ago to the day we were watching Grimley, Simpkin, Crowley, and Sam Michael have a go in the sash and wondering how the season would pan out. Parish and McDonald-Tipungwuti were looking good and it was raining Bomber goals. Worsfold's first outing too.

My wife and I came down from Brissie for it and even though it was just a preseason game, it's one of my favourite wins.

Cold beer at Princes Park on a sunny day and we were sat among the blues faithful.. feeling some serious joy when it was 50 something to 8 at half time. Gutsy performance from a group of misfits who only had a love of footy to unite them. In a way, it was the start of the new era that will hopefully blossom into something great this year.

Carn the dons.

Be nice to get some early revenge for last years loss

The most interesting thing for me about tonight will be the kick outs, of the new rules this one is the most different, Curious to see how the teams go about it.
I would have thought the most obvious is whoever is closest, grab the ball, play on 10 m and hoof it.

How does getting back to the mark work? Ie point, grab ball (don't need to wait for signal anymore?), Play on. I assume the opponents not back 10 m can't effect play?

That's an interesting point, and a disaster waiting to happen?

I'm guessing Hartley will be the new kick-in specialist, get onto a 60m torp to the centre circle.
Then switch it up with the Saad/McKenna combo of running in and the one-two combo to clear the D50

Bring on 6:40pm!!

I like the team picked - if I was coach for tonight ;) I'd have them line up like this;-

Francis Hartley McKenna
Ridley Hurley Saad
Zakka Heppell McGrath
Tippa Brown Smith
Stringer Daniher Baguley

Z.Clarke Shiel Z.Merrett

Bench from: Parish Langford Laverde Guelfi Long Jok Ambrose McKernan

Pretty close to full strength - the obvious 3 missing from best 22 in previous years are: Fantasia, Bellcho & Hooker.

So which 7 players do we drop from that side for Round 1?

I think that was the day Merrett announced himself and he hasn't looked back since.
