Let’s see Brodie get picked this week and see if he gets big minutes matched by a big effort.
It’s up to him now (and Dew to pick him).

I think for all his strengths and upside that's his achilles heel as a coachDew definitely refused to give good game time to players because they challenges him and spoke up last year.
For me it a huge problem that Dew need to change or he won’t see the year out.
If he’s still sooking it’s up and not picking players that challenge him and the other coaches he will never be a successful coach.
It’s sound like he runs and hides from conflict instead of facing it head on
No, like the steak knives you actually use and don't get left in the cupboard for special occasions that never happenLike that really expensive pair off TV shopping.
There's been a lot of positivity emanating from the SUNS players over summer. Part of that may be because they all think they're a good chance to play seniors. Most of them either played seniors last year or are likely to think they're better than players who did. There's a challenge to keep the group united, when players are overlooked for the senior team. Dew & the other coaches somehow have to sell the message that it is in everyone's best interests for the senior team to succeed. We don't want blokes in the 2nds hoping the seniors lose or get injured, because it gives them a chance to get a game. I don't really know what is going on with Brodie, but I hope he knuckles down & earns his spot in the seniors through good performance on the field & off. It would be such a waste to have him in the 2nds all year.
Lots of talk about Brodie so asked one of the players today why he didn’t get a game on the wkend he said because there’s guys ahead of him. Named Bowes and someone else (can’t remember the name) competing for the same spot. Said he should get a run soon though.
Also said Lemmens had surgery on his ankle today and will be out for about 8 weeks
Just a reminder... we go from 26 to 24 people in the team from JLT1 to JLT2. Team selection will be interesting.
That’s a pity as challenging should be encouraged if it’s done respectfullyIts more that he challenges and speaks up not that he sooks
Sux about Lemmens. How is he gonna drive Izak to training now?Lots of talk about Brodie so asked one of the players today why he didn’t get a game on the wkend he said because there’s guys ahead of him. Surely everyone that didn’t get a run last weekend will be first selected

I agree. I'd rather have an awesome inside midfielder, clearance specialist who can do that job perfectly rather than someone who is okay with clearances and his outside run and carry but not amazing at either. An excellent player is an excellent player - play them to their strengths, don't leave them out because of their weaknesses. It would be like Carlton not picking Cripps because he's not providing enough forward of centre - it makes no sense because he's exceptional at what he doesIt surprises me, and other Lions board posters, that you’re coaching staff don’t appear to value the pure inside mid type.
We’re likely to play two or three pure insides mids in our team each week. Neale, Lyons and Mathieson.
Now if the discussion about Brodie was about not improving his kicking, or lowering his, etc that’s one thing, but asking some players to expand their game when it’s not in them, is a different matter.
+1What does Horlin-Smith bring to us that Brodie cannot. I guess leadership on field but to me thats about it. I think.... Is Horlin-Smith more versatile than Brodie? can he play either end as well as mid? genuine question, Ive never followed him too much.
Could be way off, but I see Horlin-Smith as a solid backup player who shouldnt be selected in the best 22, but a guy that should drive training standards and keep these younger higher draft picks on their toes, and get a game when someone goes down.
Well for a start in the praccy games Horlin Smith has been playing on a wing... Brodie couldn't do that.
Horlin-Smith can play multiple positions and is easily in our best 22What does Horlin-Smith bring to us that Brodie cannot. I guess leadership on field but to me thats about it. I think....
