the OP cannot be serious. Has Geelong love blinded him to the point where he could put these two on the same page. I dont like Judd much but in recent years he has NEVER been outside the best 3-4 players in the comp. Chapman has NEVER been in the top 10. Geelong supporters annoy me sometimes. Get some perspective ffs

Plenty would, have and will disagree with you. That makes you the one who needs perspective.

Judd by that much it isnt funny.

Im talking mostly from West Coast days, he was just unbelievable.

Those first few years will go down as the best performance from a youngster of all time.

Even now he still manages to put in great performances exactly when the team needs it.

Chapman is a great player but Judd is a few levels above him.

No they won't. Not even close.

I'll offer names like Greg Williams (MVP in his 2nd season of football) and Gary Ablett senior as two players who were superstars from the moment they started their careers (Judd wasn't). You could go back a little further and check out a guy called Peter Hudson. Topped the ton in only his 2nd season (which he repeated in his 3rd, 4th and 5th). Or John Coleman - kicked 100 goals in not only his first season but his second as well, playing a key role in two premiership teams. Or Haydn Bunton, 3 Brownlows in his first 5 years, which comfortably eclipses Golden Boy's third year winning effort.

I'm convinced people on here have their memories erased.

You never did see the EF last year, especially the 3rd qtr, I take it. So if you want to talk big games and the ability to play under pressure there is no better than Judd. Judd will literally "will" a side over the line almost on his own. Chappy could only hope to play that well in his dreams.

As brilliant as Chappy is, and I'd have him at Carlton every day of the week, it's a big extra jump in class.
Mate , how about some perspective here - go back and watch the 07 & 09 big dances and tell me Chappy isn't a big game performer !!
FWIW I would rate Judd above Chappy but to justify this by saying he has the edge in big games is fallacious, if not stupid, on your behalf.

I'd take Chapman for the Pies. Already have Swan, Pendles and Thomas as great midfielders.

Need a gun half forward more, especially given Didak's form slump and Macaffer being out.

It's not that - it's just that a lot of people either don't care or don't know about the history of the game beyond when they started watching.

I'd be surprised if many on this board even knew about Haydn Bunton Sr - he played in the 1930s, after all. Yet even then he'll probably go down as the greatest midfielder of all time.

For some perspective Judd has been the best midfielder in his side for almost his entire career. Chapman never has been either the best forward or midfielder in his side (I rate Johnson as the better forward).

I love Chappy. Awesome player, and when on song completely devastating. Certainly a more complete player. But Judd is producing his performances under the maximum amount of pressure and attention. Chapman isn't. Judd is arguably the best inside midfielder over the past 3 years, certainly top 3. Chapman is arguably in the top 3 Mid-forwards of the past 3 years alongside Didak and Johnson well behind Ablett

Seriously, you can have all the bias in the world, I dislike Carlton FAR more than I do Geelong, and I dislike Judd (for his treatment by the umpires, not as a player or his abilities), but despite that, you'd be stupid not to pick Judd.

Judd is a far better player. However, I wouldnt trade Chapman for him. Chappie has been beyond important to the Cats in more ways then any of us will ever know.

Umm 2 brownlow medals for starters

I love modern footy, it doesn't matter if an award was deserved or not, the mere act of receiving it means the recipient is beyond criticism.

Last year's Brownlow medal was the least worthy winner I can remember. Swan was clearly extremely unlucky. Even Woewodin in 2000 had a great year, certainly a better year than Golden Balls had.

Judd deserved that brownlow last year thru hard work. Glad the umpires saw fit to reward Juddy for a brilliant year. He deserved the brownlow before any other player in the afl for 2010.

Did Ablett senior win a brownlow? nope, and yet he'll be remembered far longer than Judd.

Maybe ..but not for all the right reasons :o

Judd will be remembered in a much better light than ablett snr when his magnificent career is finally over ..oh and so will Ablett jnr.

Just because you are a one eyed cats fan, it doesn't make the unsubstantiated garbage you post correct .

Judd 5 times all australian compared to Chapman's 2 time all australian
Chappy would have had a few extra if he hadn't missed 5 or 6 games per year with injury in his other outstanding years.
Chapman has been the barometer of the Cats for about 7 years now. He is irreplaceable for us. Judd I don't watch week in week out like Cat players. When we play the Blues he's always a worry although the reality is I think you fear players like Brown and Franklin who can hurt you on the scoreboard a lot more than players like Judd.

Judd was a superstar when he entered the competition dont worry about that.

He was my Jimmy Bartel of today where I would go down just to watch him play.
Its just an opinion, I was watching games where he would get 9 disposals in the first 1 10 mintues and kick a goal or two.

It was just unbelievable, and he was getting cheered on my opposition supporters.

Its not peoples memories are erased but alot of the time it seems as though the longer you played ago the more talented you become.
