Universal Love Justin Westhoff is AWESOME

It'd be interesting to see how much playing in defence pads his possession and mark stats these days. He has 1 mark i50 from the last 5 games.

****, he's so bad. What a disappointment.
Well that's hard to do considering he isn't playing forward.

“With Hoff playing a bit more up the ground, at stoppages and on the wing, Charlie probably attracts a fair amount of attention,” Wines said.

“The forward structure won’t change too much but Jay coming in probably frees up Charlie a bit with him having been the only key forward.”

An internal admission that we've been playing with one key forward for most of Hinkley's reign. :rainbow:

I still can't believe we won majority of our games last year with a 2 key forward structure & we didn't even get close to consider picking Butch after Schulz went down in rd1 even when he was playing well in the 2's early in the year.

To think how many more goals Dixon would've kicked if he didn't have 3 guys hanging off him for majority of a game.

So just let him stay there and do nothing?

Same old s**t. Different year.
If Austin didn't get destroyed vs Glenelg maybe he could have come in and freed up Trengove a bit. A chance missed.

So, we should replace someone who has done little with someone who has done even less?

I have been far from impressed with Westhoff this year, but who do we have to replace him with? What have they done to earn a call-up, too? Unless we opt for an entirely different type of player - Atley or Ah Chee, for example - there is no one, and not much point.

He would have learned a bit of a lesson tonight about the speed of AFL football in that sort of big game.

He had a bad night but it's hard to be effective as a forward when we spent more than half the game just slamming the ball on the boot. I'd absolutely leave him in unless we've got a key forward in the SANFL doing anything selectable

PS, Hoff was a little exposed tonight, for the most part Crows were nonplussed with his new role and just worked around it with minimal fuss which isn't all his fault. Perhaps someone watching live has more insight?

No hes not - please drop him Ken and see how we go without him. He's not going to play in our next premiership team and does not contribute enough. Very rarely desperate enough and as a senior player he is setting the agenda. Cant wait for Austin and Howard to return to form.

Bit of a nothing comment, dude's played 200+ games, including about 20 showdowns and 7 or 8 finals, if you think he hasn't learnt the lesson by now he never will. From what I've seen, Hoff's stood up in big games before, he just hasn't done it anytime recently

As per my comments regarding Justin in the match review - no party tricks in the first quarter. Party tricks are allowed when 25 minutes into the last quarter & you are leading by 10 goals!!

What new role? Westhoff has played behind the ball for years. He's just not very good. He at least laid some strong tackles tonight to go with the turnovers.

Now seems to be the first time his primary role is behind the ball though, instead of forward/mid. It's a shift in focus.

Fill defensive holes, guard space, and float in for a big contested mark when it's appropriate. Tonight though the Crows just gave him nothing and worked around, over, and beneath him like he wasn't even there.

Can we all agree he has added little to both defence and offence this year and most of last season?

Are they playing him just on past performances. Its been a while since he had a very good game.
