Has anyone who's played it early got any impressions or reviews?

I've decided to give my family the bird for the weekend trip and i'm going to get KZ2 on Saturday instead of Tuesday and stay home.

Thought I'd mention too, I'll be waiting outside JB wearing my home made Helghast outfit, here is the test run photo I took.;)

Yeah man, it's good! I'm not a hardcore FPS player, and I'm stuck on dial-up speed for a few more days so haven't tried online, but single player is very impressive. Only got through 3 and a bit levels so far (played about 5hrs at a guess??), and you probably wouldn't buy it for the storyline alone, but the amount of detail is amazing. Takes maybe a level or half a level to kick in, not that it's bad - you still start right in the action (lol, I died a about a minute into the game) and it doesn't let up for 3 levels, but when the bigger battles show up... :thumbsu:

What really impresses me is the amount of stuff going on, and things like when having a large battle, trying to shoot people you can't see because of the smoke/dust caused by the battle. I guess some people would argue it just eye candy, but things like that do add to the gameplay imo, as well as the atmopshere and the feeling of being in the game.

Like I said the detail is amazing - there's tiny insects flying around lights ffs! :D I didn't see them until I stopped and were looking up at the light above a door (I don't know why I were doing that either :p). The insects themselves aren't impressive, but just that they were there was. Yeah, you don't get a lot of time for scenery watching either.

People more experienced with FFSs will be able to give you a better idea of online, controls etc (I just used default, and they seem fine to me - though I haven't checked yet to see the other options).

I didn't download the demo so can't compare it to that. I tried to avoid as much as I could prior to it coming out - saw a couple videos (ballet of death, and all the real early videos, a fair few of gifs etc).

If I had to nitpick, the slight pause/skip while loading, sort of pulls you out of it slightly, but it probably better than the alternative. Nothing to stop anyone buying it or anything like that, but obviously better if it weren't there.

Based on what I've played so far, it just seems the amount of polish in this game sets it apart from others. This is what Resistance 2 should have been (referring to campaign mode - can't comment on online for either).

Don't want to give away any spoilers, and this isn't one, but have fun in Visari Square. :)

And don't wimp out and go for easy difficulty ;) The default one ('trooper' iirc?) is good imo - a little more challenging than other games' default it seemed to me, which is good in my books. The checkpoints are set out nicely.

haha, do it man. :thumbsu:

someone dressing like that is bad enough, but to then let others take photos of them doing it!?!?
bad move, that kid will cop it bad on his 21st.

I hope it was a kid :p

Changed all the controls to Resistance 2 default, and I did consider myself having a bit of FPS experience, so I set it on the highest available... Very good difficulty level.

anyone played online yet?
impressions

i hope to pick this game up sometime soon...have no money atm thanks to uni

Lol ill have to buy my uni books a little later thanks to this :p

Played a bit online and it defintly is awesome, absolutely no lag if you pick the australian servers. Still getting used to the different game modes and the huge maps but that will become second nature in about a week or so.

Anyway i better get back to it instead of sitting here and talking lol :D

Picked it up this morning. Haven't tried any online yet though, just gone through a few single player levels. Awesome so far.

First impressions of the first levels play(And the tiniest glimpse of the second level).

Stunning, from the AMAZING opening sequence of the actual game(Viseri talking) to the actual opening sequence of the story, it is all stunning, the graphics are just amazing to look at, you are immediatley 'IN' the game and in the world of Helghan.

The first level offers up so much variety too, you get turret action, tank action and just balls to the wall battlefield action, the amount of stuff going on around you at one time really does get the adrenalin racing, everything feels so real, you feel like your holding these weapons, you feel like your in the tank, you feel like your behind the turret, you feel like your in the battlefield, it's all so immersive, you completely forget that your actually playing a game.

The first level is perfect for introducing you into the Helghan world, the second level, from the small snippet I saw just looks EPIC, can't wait to play some more.

Had a quick go of the multiplayer using bots, and the graphics don't take a hit what-so-ever, they are just as fantastic as in the story, it is quite amazing, and the bots aren't easy to go against, and you can have a go of all the modes that the game offers too.

Wheres the cheapest place in Melbourne to get it (or at least cheapest place in the eastern or north eastern suburbs)?

And apparently it gets better once you reach the middle stages. The common belief is that you're playing the worst part of the game.

****! I can't wait until Saturday. :(

Always go to JB if you want to keep the game. EB is only good if you plan on taking it back after a week as it's like a library then.

I picked this up from JB today for $89 too, it was $109 or so at EB which is a rip no matter how good the game is. Not sure if I will get to play it too much tonight though, it might even have to wait until Sunday.

Had to work all day, but my old man picked it up for me, what a gun! Just about to put it on. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im excited.

ok well believe me...what you've heard is the truth

i'm currently on the 8th of 9 levels and pretty much from level 3 onwards is ridiculously good

i mean i liked level 1 and 2 also (level one has the demo level inside it) but from then on it's pretty crazy good

level 4 is the most amazing looking level i have ever witnessed

i mean if resistance 2 with that HUGE alien mothership and all that other stuff looked as good as this then it would be a competitor but god damn the effects are simply second to none here

i expect i'll beat the game sometime in the next couple hours

edit: there is actually 10 levels...not 9..sorry.

How long do you expect to finish the campaign?

Have you gotten use to the controls, and do they feel better when you play multiplayer?

Got it today, had a play for a while though still trying to master controls.

Visually spectacular.

I just hope online multiplayer is good. My net is close to being shaped so taking it easy for a couple of days

I picked this up today from EB with the special tin case (which looks pretty awesome) for $89.95. I decided to play on the hardest level available from the start, and the story mode I've been through so far has been incredible. The level is fairly large as well and has a few different things happening.

I also decided to try multiplayer and it's incredible how quickly some people have taken to it. The first two guns are the only ones you get at the start and they're pretty difficult to use over long distance, and others keep killing me when I'm trying to aim.

But the game is awesome and once I stop playing like I play CoD 4 I might actually do well.

ok well i just finished the campaign then.
one big long ass session because i couldn't put the damn thing down!
i only stopped to eat for about 40 mins and was on the phone twice for a fair while but the total play time was 7 hours 12 mins and 33 secs....but i'd take some time off of that because of the time i was actually away from the screen

i have definitely gotton used to the controls but i still prefer the cod4 simply coz it's so damn smooth...
it's only really over long range that my aiming isn't the best but yes...certainly got accustomed to the feeling of the gunplay and weight issue

i'm not going to touch multiplayer tonight cause if i do, i get the feeling i will either die.............
or i simply won't be able to go to work tomorrow coz i will have a splitting headache and will be falling asleep at work all day hehe

3 things i will say.

First off...as far as FPS single player campaigns are concerned....

This is the best i have ever played.

(my fav mission ever goes to the sniping with mcmillain in cod4 however :P)

Secondly....the sixaxis movement of spinning the valves and planting explosive devices is actually very very good.

and Thirdly....the final boss battle.....

ummm.......have fun with it to the guys that have started it on hard :thumbsu:
i died at least 5 times on normal and it was one of the toughest most memorable boss fights i can remember.
i didn't play it smart watsoever and was trying to be a hero rushing in by myself so do the opposite of that and you should do it...but i assure you guys it will be extremely tough.

all in all...AMAZING
