Scully talks looming

THE future of Melbourne rising star Tom Scully could be a lot clearer later this week when his management team meets with Demons officials.

Scully’s managers Peter Blucher and Alastair Lynch from Velocity Sports are expected to hold discussions with Demons chief executive Cameron Schwab and list manager Tim Harrington in Melbourne.
Speculation will intensify leading into the crucial meeting that Scully is leaning strongly toward signing a new deal with Melbourne and turning his back on a massive contract with new AFL outfit Greater Western Sydney.
The potentially brilliant left-footer is high on the Giants recruiting hit-list.
Scully is believed to have already been offered in the region of $4million to take a five-year deal with the Giants at $800,000 a season.
Velocity management had been due to hold discussions on Scully’s future with Demons officials last week.
But Velocity and Lynch in particular were heavily engaged for much of the week in the dramatic sacking of another of their top clients Brendan Fevola from the Brisbane Lions.
Velocity’s Victorian-based agent Mark Kleiman left the company early into February to take a football director’s job with top Melbourne radio station 3AW, which further stalled Scully talks on his future.
Scully, just 19, is out of contract at the end of the 2011 after just his second season in AFL ranks after he was the prized number one pick at the 2009 national draft.
He has been the prime poaching target for GWS recruiting gun Graeme Allan and Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni.

But the Giants scouts are believed to be resigned to missing out on winning Scully’s signature to join the new team next season, which will be coached by AFL legend Kevin Sheedy.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

He is staying, he said he wanted to be a part of the dees resurgence and he will be!

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

I heard them talk about it on SEN but I'm still of the opinion "Pics or it didn't happen" so until it happens I'll just wait.

At least this is the first positive bit on the issue.

That's the truth.

Fingers crossed.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

I guess this news is a little bit promising but I won't be satisfied until the contract is sized.

And signed but I think it will be a fair size too if he commits. :p

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

Or are you just another troll? Looks like it, go start a thread with the boss & you can crap on all night.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

The Website and article at the AFL is a bit disappointing, but if you were his management wouldn't you say those things just to hide your real intentions. I know I would hope I'm right anyway, Go Dees

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

Will be interesting to hear what he has to say on Friday.

I might be a whole lot of nothing, if it is I think it was a stupid decision to let him speak to the media as it will just add to the speculation.

What he needs to say is that it is his intention is to re-sign with Melbourne but is committed to waiting until the end of the season. I don't know if that will happen though.

If he just refuses to answer any questions & keeps responding with things like: "That’s not something I am willing to discuss" or "I just want to play footy & deal with this at seasons end" it will only increase rumors & innuendo.

If he doesn’t intend to say something definitive I would rather he say nothing.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

Was watching AFL Teams on Foxtel this evening, and during the "give me something" segment; Liam Pickering said that he'd received an e-mail from a friend of both his, and the Scully family that claimed to have informed him, that after this particular friend had spoken to Tom Scully- he was told that Tom Scully would infact RE-SIGN with the Melbourne Football Club within the next MONTH!

Take it for what it's worth, but I thought I'd share the news.
FAITH!

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

Sounds like another nothing rumour to me.

Pickering is a player agent and wouldnt let that one out of the bag unless it suited him.

He could just as easily be lying as telling the truth.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

If true, I'm betting his decision was made sometime during the first quarter last saturday night.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

Why would you join a team that got done by 90 points by Sydney reserves that has to front up next year like Gold Coast last week and wondering if you are one of only a small number of players to add to that team. They will get less talent than Gold Coast.

Seeing Falau be a liablility each week and never be dropped. Knowing that a number of kids who will have to do the hard yards will be looking to move to a Melbourne club after their first contract.

Having Sheedy rub your recruitment in Melbournes' face creating hostility from Demon supporters and pumping you up to the point of embarrassment and increased pressure.

The hypocritical sell of Sheeds who would have said exactly the opposite if you were an Essendon player looking to go interstate. Didn't he show Wanganeen a video of Essendon playing finals before he left?

Too many reasons for you guys to sit back and not worry about him going anywhere at the end of season. Get to enjoy him this year as a player of the future.

Re: Latest in the Scully Saga!!!

to be fair that article was published over a month ago.... really not sure why you brought it up

To be fair, I also posted it over a month ago.

Have a look at the dates attached to some of the posts, and you'll realise that this thread has been bumped recently.

By the way, thanks for the update, Age, let's hope what you heard is true :thumbsu:
