Worst loss of the season so far. The main concern was the lack of intensity from the very start and the lack of a friggin game plan. I understand that you need the cattle to make game plans work, but after ten rounds I just can't see any evidence of a good game plan.
The game plan overall strategy has been to move the ball fast and accurately thru the corridor.

Its a work in progress.

The end of the Scott years saw us play in a way that basically denied the corridor to the opposition and to us. It was good for stopping fast ball movement out of the oppositions backline, (but * were one of the few teams to beat it because they move into the centre square at the first opportunity, often on that 45 degree angle kick over the back corner of the square.)

When we had it we'd use mobile talls like Waite then Brown as outlets for that same long down the line footy and drive a stoppage or boundary stoppage when we lost the mark - at least we'd often halve the contest. It minimises turnovers and makes it hard for the opposition to generate fast movement thru the corridor if its done well. Its a good structure to stop run on footy and turn over goals. But it could degenerate into long kicks down the line or to a contest ... something that still kills our forward momentum. And we saw how bad that could get last year.

So basically this is the opposite of the sort of footy that we played under Scotts. And Scotts' structures were well drilled and solid for all his other weaknesses. So they are still drilled into our older players. They are a more instinctive trained reaction.

So far we've been playing this new way for six months. The reality is this year is a pre season and next year will be for six months (at least). Our players need to learn then adapt to a whole new series of instinctive onfield behaviours and the ones that can't adapt need to be replaced. Its gonna look ugly now and will be painful for a while but if we get it right we'll have built a team and style of play that could see us a dominant side for the rest of this decade.

* kept us out of the corridor and used it at will on the weekend. A commentator mentioned we were playing man on man for most of the game and you could see this as our zone structures were non existent. I actually think it makes sense from Nobles pov. WE aren;t accountable enough and playing man on man will show that up glaringly in the review. You have to expose the problems you are trying to fix if you want to fix them.

Luckily *Essendon supporters didn't say much this week. Probably because we're so bad they feel sorry for us.

Sympathy from *Essendon supporters... :(

Lol why would (rightly) not rating Essendon cause us any embarrassment? Stop vying for the NMFC’s Bigfooty love and affection and go away u giant loser
Halftimehero lol did this upset you? Imagine stewing on this all week just to come and start retroactively liking things after going on to win ONE game. Says it all really
