I was actually surprised by how few there were. Considering that every Port Adelaide player on the ground would have been in their defensive fifty already, I'd expect 18 players on or near the mark.

You're right, the rules are different for Hawthorn. They're the only club allowed to man the mark 2 metres in front of where it should be.

Hawthorn has been the only team in the past few years to be penalised for encroaching the mark. Against the suns, brand was done for it, and smith was done last yr v port for the same thing. Basic trigonometry
