People need to think about this logically.

There is no way a food critic like Matt Preston - whose very profession relies on honesty and integrity - is going to compromise himself. If he did he would never be able to walk into a restaurant again and rate it without being accused of being biased.

Ditto Donna Hay. What possible interest does she have in compromising herself ?

Maybe, Julie's food just happened to taste better than Chris's. Incredible concept, I know.
Again, whats going to cause more outrage in an actual kitchen... An average to decent meal with a concept that isn't just 'home cooking', or a decent to good meal with key things missing off every plate?

Despite the fact that Chris has shown to be one of the best in the show (IMO) and even if he is a twat, to say its something as simple as 'the things on the plate tasted better and should no matter what get them through' is folly. Its obvious that they weighed in the initial ideas of the book beyond what they should have.

People can say 'oh it will get easier in the real world when they know what they are cooking', thats just crap, because you are under worse constraints to produce higher quality food (ie not just castard on top of pastry when someone orders a pie which is apparently passable as a pie in the MC kitchen)

Maybe I'll audition next year, crank the waterworks when they walk up to me. Pretty much ensures I will get through with only a passable ability in the kitchen :p

Chris will never become a Chef, because he can't handle people telling him what to do because he thinks he knows all, he wouldn't last a week in a professional kitchen.

Well he would RUN the kitchen wouldn't he?

But on the other hand, Julie would? Same with Poh... Both have wasted a lot of 'scraps' through the comp, which means the kitchens are losing money. Poh has shown she cracks under pressure when she isn't cooking things she is comfortable with (Which is why I hope the last challenge isn't a 'cook what you feel' challenge)

Julie similarly... Has cracked under pressure time and time again, and continues to, and produces things which are not up to retaurant standard. You may not like Chris for his arrogance, for being male, for being focussed on serving meats in a meat and beer restaurant, but at least he doesn't produce slop every second challenge.

Ever cooked in a professional kitchen?

The winner gets a cookbook and 100K.
The winner does not get his or her own restaraunt.

Some of you seem to be under the impression that the winner walks out and starts up their own place straight away.

Do you really think that Julie or Poh or whoever are going to be head chefs in a commercial kitchen with no experience whatsoever ?

There's a myriad of licences they would have to get, plus a lease, plus equipment, plus staff - Nobody in theor right mind would attempt anything like that without experience and I doubt that any bank manager would lend them any money for such a venture anyway.

Can everyone please take their tin foil hats off.

Sucked in Mr hat, but when you keep putting up dishes, I wouldn't even feed to my dog, what did you expect?

His menu tonight was vomit material, stick to beer Chris, you will never be a Chef.

Sure - Chris's dishes were not my cup of tea - Pigs Heads & Pigs trotters I could easily do without.

But i'd rather eat his dishes than some goddamned 100 day old rotting rancid reeking egg. **** that!

I don't think there is a conspiracy, they just straight up made the wrong decision, simple as that.

The 100k has been constantly referred to as 'On their way to making their own business/kitchen' whatever. Obviously it won't be an instant transition, but the likelihood that Julie makes it that quickly, or even succeeds at all is much much lower than Chris'.

Julie could have served cornflakes and milk tonight and the morons would have voted her through - I like julie but to say she was a better cook than chris is simply wrong. (half cooked pastry, custard and nuts is not a pie!, that meat tonight was a joke and she was still plating after the alloted time while haveing a sook and she had a lump of brown cake with nothing on it while the judges blasted chris for being too brown?????? enjoyed the show but the credability went out the window tonight)

the lovefest for poh is just stupid - if she got booted they would have found away to bring her back again and then give he another advanatage at the pointy end.

The beer baron was a mile better than these two hacks.

You seen the cost of leases these days. 100K barely gets you a coffee shop.

Poh has been outstanding the last two weeks and would be a deserving winner.

But its still a lot freakin' better than nothing...

Chances are, 95% of the masterchef contestants never really 'make it', Chris probably as well. But I thought the show was about picking the one with the most potential/likelihood to do that. Julie's cooking atm won't get you there, I still don't know if Poh has that drive.

We will see I guess. But if Chris goes to own a restaurant/bar somewhere, or becomes a semi-renown chef to Australians and becomes successful, whilst Julie/Poh doesn't come close, from a practical standpoint, the show has failed (Yeah I get it, its for the entertainment, but something DOES happen with the dosh handed out :p).

Would have been a much more compelling final having Chris & Poh make it through. When you are talking about how a plate looks, and Julie serves up a piece of cake, and that's it, how they hell can you get through? All of the judges have been swept up in the "she's a mum, give her a go", and have fallen for it all the way through the contest.

Even earlier in the week, she serves up a vomit pie and gets through. Serves up raw fish, and gets through. Just a bit of a letdown to be honest.

Go Julie, now there's a MILF if I ever saw one.

Geez I'd love to eat some of her stuff.

Great she's through to the last round, can't wait for her to Julieene that little Tai Kwan Poh out of the kitchen.

GO JULIE!!!!

Can someone explain the logic behind Julie supposedly having a clearer and more concise vision than Chris for both the cookbook and everything else?

There must be a zillion "Family Cooking" books on the shelf at your average bookstore - what is it about Julie's cooking (apart from the publicity generated by the show) that's going to set her apart from anyone else? At least Chris and Poh are serving up unique stuff that might be able to capture a niche market.

That being said, Chris has made it pretty easy for them to knock him off this week - he's served up some pretty unimpressive stuff, irregardless of his prior record in the competition. The beef must've been really ordinary especially.

No, but my daughter has being a second year apprentice Chef & she said the same thing, also said Julie wouldn't last, but Poh would.

Guys, pack it up.

We can all go home now. Mantis' daughter said that Julie & Chris wouldn't last in a professional kitchen.

Mods, lock the thread please.

How is that giving up?

Are you a baby factory or something Mantis, you seem to have hundreds of children and according to you, you're not inbred so that deletes the obvious theory.

What a joke this show is. My girlfriend and I have watched most of the series and loved it, but the finals week has been cringeworthy. Julie has been horrible all week, but gets by with the sympathy vote.

IMO the judges have comprimised their integrity by letting Julie go through on tonights pathetic effort. If I ordered those three meals in a restaurant on one night, and had bits missing of each dish, I would flat out refuse to pay the bill. How the judges can honestly be happy with what she dished up compared to what she was meant to dish up is beyond me, and shows that the show is definitely rigged. My mum should go on the show, if all it takes is mum's home cooking to take out $100,000. Oh, and cut the BS Julie about showing your kids that you can achieve anything you want if you put your heart into it.

I certainly won't be watching the final, which is dissapointing, as the show promised a lot - so much promise up until finals which was meant to be the best part!

then dont call the show Masterchef.

since the series started its all been about the cooking and the pressure of being in the kitchen and now suddenly down to the final 3 its suddenly decided on who is going to sell the most successful cookbook and kitchen ettique has been thrown out of the window.

You could tell Donna Hay was going to favor the females from the start and you could tell she was doing everything she could to convince the judges that her food tasted really good, do they have the personalities to stand against her opinion? no, but they would know deep down who has the better chance of selling the more popular book.

tell me what a pressure test and invention test has to do with making a cookbook?

LOL, I get bagged because I said the male judges were biased & you have done the same thing with the female judge. :D
