Who are the players that were drafted into a different state from their home state, there was constant speculation that they would one day return to their home state, but never did?

Would Pav be the biggest name?
Buddy was from WA, but I don't recall hearing constant speculation of him ever going to WC or Freo.

How could I forget Swallow. We had already reserved him a spot in the Kangaroos HOF

Same with Kelly. We've had a couple of cracks at him but he's stayed

I dare say Rory Sloane had a few Vic clubs in his ear leading up to FA.

Brodie Grundy.

Rumours about Port in particular for years, but signed a 45 year deal with Collingwood.

Now he's moved to Sydney.

Nat Fyfe never went home to Lake Grace Pingrup FC.

Nor did Mark Bairstow after Geelong signed him. Maybe Liam Baker will turn down a Tigers deal to return to the mighty LGP Bombers.

Edit: Bairstow did retire for one year and played for them only to return to the Cats in 1991.

Daniel Rich

Cale Hooker.

We tried to trade him twice, the second time back to his home state of WA.

WC had a deal on the table and we wanted it. He refused to go.

Ben King, Saints fans seem certain he’ll end up there year after year.

Travis Boak and Daniel Wells.

I recall a little speculation about Simon Black too.

Jonathan Brown had a serious offer from Collingwood.

A few comments about Pavlich above. Funny how the best offers he received to leave Fremantle were from Collingwood and Carlton.

Ryan O'Keefe and Jude Bolton are two good ones.

His career isn't over, but Luke Parker also currently counts.

Did Mickey O ever get linked to SA?

Why Tf would anyone go back to Lake Grace..after two Brownlows?

Nafe only goes back there to drive a road train for a few runs and relax playing Keith on the Bluetooth
