It kicks off this Thursday the test series.

Looking forward to the limited over formats as well.

Bucket list in life is to watch a cricket game at John Davies Oval. Queenstown is a magnificent part of the world.

NZ playing with pretty much the same squad against England.

New Zealand Test squad: Tim Southee (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Blair Tickner, Neil Wagner, Scott Kuggeleijn, Henry Nicholls, Kane Williamson, Will Young

The ODIs in this are also crucial for Sri Lanka. Win 3-0 and they'll leapfrog South Africa and West Indies in to 8th spot in the Super League and the automatic qualifying spot for the World Cup. Win 2-1 and they'll need Netherlands to take something from South Africa in their 2 remaining ODIs.

Anything else and they're heading to the qualifier.

I feel worse about Kusal Mendis doing well than I did about Scott Kuggeleijn.

How the mighty NZ (former #1 test side in the world) has fallen inside of 12 months.

Almost completely turned over by the poms and getting hit all around the park at over 4 RPO by the visiting Sri Lankans.

They've been an average Test team ever since the WTC final. Haven't won a series and that includes playing Bangladesh at home. They're currently 8th in the WTC and that's about where their play has been for the past 18 months.

Looks like bowling first has been a mistake again with Sri Lanka 1 for 120.

That series against England finished 1-1, we were hardly turned over by them, had it been 2-0 you might have a point.

Wagner's late wickets saved his bacon against England but again he is getting carted.

To be fair to him - and the commentary sort of addressed this in reverse regarding Southee, Wagner’s forte is not bowling in these conditions. There are part timers around who would be more effective when it’s seaming. He’s there for when the pitch inevitably flattens out as they tend to do over there. Southee is the other way around

Mendis is a very unique player. He’s simply never going to be consistent enough to be a great batsman. But he is a player of great innings

I don’t think just yet that England are going to completely revolutionise the game but I do think that they are going to revolutionise top order (1-4) batting to a degree. I think every side will start looking for at least 1, probably 2 batsmen to bat with genuine aggression early and try and take conditions out of the equation. There is a lot more bowling depth about at the moment than perhaps there has been a few years back and making sure that teams with 3,4 good bowlers can’t just settle in on the back of 1-20 off 10 overs will be a real goal I think.

New Zealand burnt their 3 reviews in the 48th over. Crag McMillan said New Zealand have had 1 successfull review out of 16 this summer. Tim Southee's use of DRS is pretty shite.
