the nfl should be congratulated for trying to grow the comp and provide a comp where clubs can re-establish themselves such as Reservor and Lalor who have gone from a much publicised basket case 12 months ago into a position where they 25k and the bank thriving if they continued in d2 last season they would have given up and more history would have been lost in this league. No problem for eltham turtles to join

100% Lower.

You'd think he'd be busy celebrating their Div 2 Grand Final win, but instead he's losing sleep over the Turtles...

Unreal.
Actually if I were affiliated with anyone, it is a club a bit further north. Like most people who have been around a while I know people at lots of clubs and don’t park myself at one location every week. I watch NFL, EFL, VAFA and the odd country league. The Turtles coming in may affect Lower but if they’ve got cash to spend, probably more likely to affect Panton Hill. Panton Hill have been that club that has picked up players from Hurstbridge, Eltham and Lower over the years because they’ve been the club that can accommodate guys looking for and easier path or greater opportunit. The Turtles may give them a run and less distance to drive to training and home games.

Agreed. If a couple of teams left currently we could be back at 2 divisions so getting more teams in can only be a good thing regardless if they are around in 5 years or 100. If the league said no and 2/3 clubs were gone within 5 years and we we forced back to 2 divisions it would be a nightmare.

It is! I’ve heard it from 2 current players. If it’s not true and your comment on the Ammo forum suggests you may not pay any money, then why bother joining. Also is it true you are in Debt to the VAFA. This could end up being the most incompetent decision by the league since the continued reappointments of Floydy back in the day.
I think you are truely under estimating VAFA football which is very strong. No doubt turtles struggled this year from all reports but it’d be pretty hard being an ammo team in this area.

Talking to a few blokes from Panton Hill about the move they said they’ve played them quite often in practice matches over the years and always been an excellent battle

Laurimer have also played them in practice matches I believe.

Think you’ll find the Turtles were a much stronger outfit back then and Panton Hill not so. The core group of their best players are either retired or mid thirties now. They will need to recruit 10 players for their ones and another 15 for their 2’s assuming no one pulls the pin. Is there 25-30 players from within an area that’s not in a growth area? No there isn’t, so I can only assume they are hoping to entice players from clubs like Panton Hill, Eltham, Hurstbridge etc who may get a better opportunity or a football experience better than their current club. I can state for a fact a lot of guys played there this season past out of a sense of duty and not for want. People can question my motives, but they are not a long term solution and I think the league know this, but are prepared to accommodate them until areas like Wollert and the new housing estates north of Epping develop, or a club like Templestowe may decide to rejoin. Warrandyte weren’t far off a few years back with a fair percentage of members in favour, so who knows what may happen in the future.

I don't care of your motives i just find it funny anyone cares that much. Anyway we will see. Being in a growth area vs established suburb certainly doesn't equate to success when really the division split of clubs in the NFNL says the exact opposite.

No reason that West Heidelberg or Panton Hill are sustainable and a Research based side isn't.

Eltham junior continually pump out mass numbers who disappear after 19’s finish. No reason that they can’t move across to gain opportunity.

Another two for the Bloods...!
I’m starting to look forward to photo day and the promotions that follow.

Lots of announcements coming in the next week or so. Back in business

Hahahaha.... just keeping a lid on it and taking it one week at a time...!

Couple of other VERY handy recruits have signed along with Sammy - We’ve secured the pieces we identified as gaps which is pleasing.

The loyal playing group of 2018 survived the club and they should be rewarded with the potential of success... But it’s only potential at this stage, still lots of bricks to be laid

The Bloods will have another couple of solid recruitments to announce in the coming days... Been a very busy off-season already...! What difference from this time last year.

So when are you announcing them Benny? Coming days seems to be dragging along.

Long time reader, first time writer. Had to make an account and quote you and post here. So Lalor wins 2 matches last season and now the signings have begun & you are on your high horse claiming you have secured the pieces to your puzzle and looking forward to your photo day? What is a photo day?
Also how many signings is it now? Or is it a simple "oi come down to Lalor, we will give you a slab to play and lose by 10 goals most weeks, cheers." (No offence to Lalor, but they are far away from their former selves).

Be buggered if I knew how to quote one post let alone multiple posts my first crack at it ... welcome aboard DVF you're gunna fit in ok here I reckon :thumbsu:

sounds like some buzz out of Lalor but nothing from any other club. recruiting front looks very slow so far.
Exactly my thought! Are other clubs not signing anyone or is Lalor all of a sudden got some banker filling them with cash to throw around at all these quality recruits you claim are guns?

Took me awhile but got around to it. Thank you for the Welcome, my name is Tim, but DVF sounds like a good nickname. Cheers

Spot on. And if the rumours are true then signing 30 something year old blokes who are passed it definitely isn't the long term solution.
