So three first rounders.

On top of their pick 2. And the pick 3 they're getting fro mcKay compo.

Out of nowhere.

For being s**t at football.

Amazing

Bad time to be relying on the draft to rebuild with Tassie soon to come.

Its a massive haul if they dont improve in 2-3yrs from that idk.

:grin::grin:

With the Concessions package grabbing the headlines, whats been missed is the revealing of Norths new logo going forward.

It's been ratified by the AFL and will appear on all North Melbourne Club merchandise and team apparel as from the start of the next season.

I'll admit, it's more than what I was expecting, but then last year we got less than I was expecting.

I'll also admit, I'm surprised they gave us these picks rather than upping our soft cap, which to me is more important because our player development has been poor.
We asked for a bigger soft cap last year to employ more development coaches/trainers and the AFL flat out said no but here's a future 2nd and 3rd you must trade

So North are going to get 6 first round picks across two years?

Their own two, three priority picks, and the McKay compensation.

West Coast must be wondering wtf is going on. How is this fair?
It's worse:

Must say this is absolutely masterfully done by the AFL.

Incentivise North to trade picks to one of their prized 2 expansion clubs who need the points this year (Gold Coast - Walters & co) or Brisbane next year (Ashcroft).
Brisbane an ‘expansion’ club? Yeah, righto.

“We will give you 3 end of first rounders, but we might take 2 off you so you better be prepared for that outcome. Of course you can trade them now, if you want and we won’t say anything … *wink”

They’ve manipulated it to ensure the least amount of backlash from clubs given they have a chance of accessing said picks if they really want to get them.

Door is in Norths court now to get themselves the right deals for them.

access to bid on Sanders would’ve had less an affect, I’m surprised the afl didn’t just do that.
It’s around the sweet spot to get some very good players in.

Congrats to those North fans lapping up salty tears for opposition supporters as a result of your club being pathetically incompetent with no apparent backbone. Definitely getting the last laugh here following a sustained period of begging, be proud. #shinbonerspirit

Learn to count!

We've also got Port's first round this year.

The part that doesn't make sense to me is that the future picks will be reviewed in 12 months time, yet they are able to trade them?

LOL, what if they win 10 games, will they take those picks off the team that they have traded them to?
I imagine they'll review where those picks actually land.

For now, they're end of first round. If they were traded to WCE, for instance, and WCE finished bottom of the ladder, they'd sure go higher, no?

Nope, it’s end of first round - meaning it’ll be tied to the pick after the premier.

Hurh hurh my club is so shit that they keep getting free stuff from the AFL! eat that, jealous haters!! LOL!

embarrassing stuff.

And yet access to those league and players is open to all.
It's not about the ability to draft from all states, for the northern clubs. It's about having players that are homegrown (like footy states have) and not susceptible to go home factors, poaching. It also increases the players from footy states that are available to the other clubs, because if northern clubs are developing and selecting locals, the other clubs have more Vic, SA, WA talent to draft. Not all academy players go to the home clubs either, some go to other AFL clubs, others may not make it, but are beneficial to state, local leagues, so it increases the overall pool and improves the talent pool, where it wouldn't if the academies didn't exist.

It's astonishing that this still needs to be explained.

Much rather the assistance be end of first round which they have done a mid 20’s pick this year plus a couple in and around 20 is fine. Doesn’t impact clubs much and if North have a brain they’d trade half of them
