Pelicans completely and absolutely. because they need to clear salary not add an extra 7m to the books when DMC is a free agent, for a bench Wing
Yes probably right.. I just think the Pelicans are desperate for playoffs this year.. Need wings and do not have any assets able to be moved.. probably need a pick + prospect to be included in order for Pelicans to take on Deng..

Las Vegas NHL team management already boasting about having top 6 ticket revenue for the season coming up.

Will only be a matter of time before there is a serious push for a basketball team in Vegas.

Trade idea:
Lakers send Deng to New Orleans for Omer Asik and Quincy pondexter..

Pelicans get a player that can play for them next year for a team starved of wing options.

Lakers get a 'cheaper bad contract' that can be stretched and waived more easily next offseason with only 15 mill (approx) guaranteed remaining.. gives them more flexibility long term as well as allowing 2 max players (PG and bron??) to be signed next offseason..

Who says no?

Pels shouldn't be handing over Pondexter too. He can play.

Lakers should be giving the asset to clear Deng.

Deng is a horrid contract. Like 18M for a guy who can't defend the wing anymore for 3 more years. You would need to take a s**t contract from Pelicans+prospect for Pelicans. They offered an unprotected first rounder to anyone taking Deng this year with no luck either

I'd be all over that like no tomorrow

Desperate as I am to get out from underneath Asik's contract, I don't think we're this desperate. Would rather just stretch Asik.

If Quincy is healthy - and that's a big if - would much prefer him to Deng nowadays anyway.

Dont think the leagues looking at expansion, however i can see some cheap owner looking to get into Las Vegas

Most of the casinos have already bought into large amounts of season tickets and corporate packages for the hockey team for promotional and giveaway purposes for the high rollers.

I suspect a basketball team would be just as successful...perhaps even more so.

Wario returning to Memphis after a hiatus... shine on you crazy diamond.

Also surprised Miami didn't keep Willie Reed at the minimum.

Chicago would be one of the better places to absorb his trash contract and take on assets, can sell it as a former good player coming on back. 3 years is pretty brutal tho.

How about Minny? :D

Dannnnnnnnnn I just figured out a way for you to move Cole Aldrich!

Heat are opening Wade gets a buyout so they can sign him for less

So eat his whole contract then sign a new one?

Interesting way of saving money

Considering they sold a good second round pick for 3 million this is just insane to me

The raiders are re allocating there next year I think

Nba will defiantly expand into that market within the next 5 years

Too much potential to pass up surely

It would take a lotto first to move Asik.. this guy is giving zero value.. Especially with DMC in tow.. Deng is a better player that could give more production whereas Asik is a complete non factor..

I understand the money factor and luxury tax but New Orleans would LOVE trading Asik for Deng if they had similar contracts.

I feel it's trading a F player on a C- contract for a D player on a D- contract (if you understand)

Also pondexter cannot play for those questioning.. pretty sure he has sat out 2 years due to injury with no return in sight.. he has zero value also

In a vacuum perhaps, but Deng is owed another $54 million though, while Asik is only owed another $25 million. If we took the early termination option on Asik's 5th year his contract would also end effectively a year earlier.

Deng might be more 'playable' at present, but he's also making $7-8 million more per season - and when you're up against the luxury and hard cap thresholds that's not an insignificant difference.

There are whispers that he might finally be returning this season. Our moronic medical department did their best to end his career prematurely in 2015, but there may be hope yet.

Let's not portray Quincy as a saint here, he clearly withheld medical records from the club late in the 2015 season so he could play in the playoffs. Was contributory negligent
