Obviously be a midfielder or key position defender.

From the midfield crop, I would be ecstatic with one of Hill, Swift, Blease, Hannebery or Sidebottom. Hill would be my first choice but would not complain with any of those boys on our list.

I really only like 1 key position player at this selection of the draft, Jackson Trengrove. (of course no disrespect to NickNat or Hurley or even Vickery but I see them taken well before selection 11). I would be disappointed if we took any other tall at selection 11 i.e Lisle or Mckernan.

If not a midfielder at pick 11 I would be ecstatic with Trengrove as our first selection. People are forgetting we have kids like Wellingham and McCarthy, Cook and Stanley who can and need to step up for midfield roles. We really do lack another key back at CHB and I would fully support any decision to land him to complete our future spine.

Gee, draft day is far too far away.

Should really be 1 week after trade period.

Dave, what the **** are you going to do with yourself when the draft is over??

Cheers Dave

Just when I say to my self don't get your hopes up with any player, Dave comes along with a video of the player I've been waiting so long to see, even if it is just some news interview.

Stil one month left until the big day, so bloody long.

Swift is a nice size. He looks the type, who could have a Rhys Palmer or Joel Selwood 1st year. ie. Play an effective role in the midfield straight up.

Smart kid too from reports.

I am really hoping we take this kid because he appears to have the goods for what we need, could become elite and if we do take him, Hine obviously has full confidence in his knees.

He just seems the type to have the desire to be very good, not just make the AFL.

Obviously you can't tell much from that short video, but he seems to have that natural competitiveness about him.

Dave, after being told several hundred times that TRENGOVE has no "R" after the g you continue to spell his name incorrectly. Please stop doing this.

Regards Chip

Thanks Dave,

On those Videos, I really hope we dont take Sam Blease or Stephen Hill. Blease looks very average, does not look like a 1st rounder and I will be extremely angry if we pick him.

Stephen Hill looks like Chris Egan mark 2. NO thanks!

It would be absolutely terrific if Hamish Hartlett fell in our laps. In saying that, any of Swift, Sidebottom or Hartlett would be great!

I disagree with Blease, I am really warming to him and I could Defintaly seeing Hine Picking Blease. Has Great Speed,Damaging Disposal and Really Good Tackler and is Bottom-Aged. Down-Side it Size and Tank.

I agree Hill does not look the Goods, More of an Athelete then a Footballer, Disposal was not Great in the Video's

I'm really hoping the speculation that one of Hartlett, Sidebottom or Ziebell slides to us turns out to be true... that would be awesome. Then I'll be pinning my hopes on Hannebery being there at #29, and if that happens I almost wouldn't care what happens for the rest of the draft! :D

The more likely scenario is that we take a Trengove at #11 and Hannebery's gone by #29 so we take a complete unknown.

Freo may take Hill instead of Rich.

Check this out:

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=513277

This would be an absolute pisser if this happened and would greatly increase our chances of getting a really good mid in the draft. No doubt its pure BS but the speculation is fun.

There's a chance that Hartlett or Ziebell could fall to us.

All it takes is for 1 or 2 teams to want key position players with their first selection and we're in with a chance.

If Trengove, Johnston or McKernan moves up in the order, we're in with a shot.

Even if Essendon take Hurley at 5, I can still see Carlton, Adelaide and even Richmond going tall.

The top 10 never goes how predicted and one player usually slides. Last year it was Ebert who was considered a monty to at least go to Adelaide at 10.

If you take a look at our drafting we brought Reid and Brown into the top 10.

Brown was always considered a chance, but Reid was expected to go a little further down.

Last year Dangerfield rocketed into the top 10 when not expected.

All it takes is for one club to rate a player a little higher than other. Most likely it will be us taking a player at 11 rated about 25.

Here is the list of players that we could draft at #11 which would get my motor running (this isn't who I would take, but who Hine could take and I'd be quite giddy):

Jack Watts
Nicholas Naitanui
Daniel Rich
Hamish Hartlett
Jack Ziebell
Michael Hurley
Steele Sidebottom
Jackson Trengove
Chris Yarran
Tom Swift

The selections that will make me wait until the pre-season to see if they can actually play or not (i.e. I won't be jumping up and down on the couch, but I'll be more than willing to wait and see them develop):

Stephen Hill
Tyrone Vickery (only because I'll question his slide, and our need for a ruck/forward)
Sam Blease
Ashley Smith (I know most won't rate him here, but I could see him going 1st round)
Mitch Robinson
Nic Heyne
Rhys O'Keefe

Picks that will cause my family to put me on suicide watch (not really, but my faith in Hine will definitely be tested):

Shaun McKernan (like Vickery in terms of need, but shorter)
Lewis Johnston
Michael Walters
Jordan Lisle
Aaron Cornelius
Ryan Schoenmakers
Nick Suban

Anybody else I haven't mentioned probably falls in the yawn-suicide range.

Admittedly, I know very little about the draft, so my opinion is largely irrelevant, but those are my thoughts at this stage, and the only thing that will be true by draft day is that my thoughts will be different by then.

Take out Trengove and put in Hill and that top list would make me go "shwing" as well. Nick Heyne wouldn't have me considering suicide but the coach he plays for might when he fluffs something easy, then he'll put down the gun when he takes a hanger. And I'm sorry but Nick Suban never disappoints me, a great little player.

It's funny isn't it and I agree with all of the above. I remember clearly after we'd taken Daisy and Pendles at 2 & 5 after Ellis was all the talk. I felt a little deflated that we had not gone for the "better players" (Pendles was tipped to be taken in the teens) as per general consensus on BF and articles in the paper.

After Daisy's 1st game and after a few VFL games for Pendles, I was very happy. These guys came into the "let's wait and see" category from my perspective.

I have total faith in the Hine.

Can I ask you'd be excited with McKernan??????? I wouldn't take him with our second rounder. He won't make it as an AFL ruck doesn't have the size. Kp could be promising but he may struggle for dash off the mark playing Kp

I don't even Consider him as a Ruckman at 196cm he's about 4cm short for me, See him as a CHF/CHB, Just like what I saw of him. Seems a Footballer
