Seems to alsways be this strigma about JPK starting slow, not sure it's true.
Since 2012 when he fully broke out as an ultra premo these have been his first five rounds.

2012: 137, 132, 113, 99, 173
Season average: 119.5
First five rounds average: 130.8

2013: 147, 110, 136, 80, 109
Season average: 105.5
First five rounds average: 114

2014: 91, 109, 110, 120, 144
Season average: 113.9
First five rounds average: 114.8

2015: 127, 130, 58, 118, 101
Season average: 109.5
First five rounds average: 106.8

2016: 75, 95, 124, 97, 101
Season average: 113.1
First five rounds average: 98.4

Last year was his only year I'd consider a slow start.

Probably wasn't even playing poorly was just in the shadow of Parker + Hanners who went nuts at the start of the year.
Mitchell had a better start to this year also.

First 5 ave
Parker - 125.4
Hanners - 117.8
Mitchell - 110.4

He outscored them all (average) by the end of the year. He did have a slow start this year and a pretty significant price drop in early 2015 but other than that the man is a star.

It would be interesting to compare his record to Selwood, who people also get scared off by his reputation of slow starts.

Selwood doesn't start slow. He usually starts well and ends well, with a down patch around mid-year.

2016, without a pre-season:
105, 70, 138, 100, 144, 138
Avg: 115.8, Season Avg: 110

2015 (just about his worst season ever):
69, 110, 154, 84, 83, 104
Avg: 100.6, Season Avg: 104

2014, again without a pre-season:
157, 140, 138, 126, 83, 82
Avg: 121, Season Avg: 121

2013: 126, 140, 74, 163, 87, 105
Avg: 115.8, Season Avg: 118

Danger & JJ

Vs

Gaz & Heater

Danger & JJ - Gives you solid VC/C option and JJ should improve whereas Gaz is a bit of an unknown injury wise and Heater looks like he's slowing down a bit and handing the reins of the GWS backline to Williams a little. The back half of 2016 looked that way to me and was reflected in a few lower scores.
