JASON Horne-Francis and Junior Rioli will make their club debuts on Saturday against Brisbane, while Travis Boak is set for a weekend on the sidelines.

After experiencing ongoing symptoms from a collision occurring during a pre-season match in Perth, Boak underwent further follow-up imaging, which confirmed a rib fracture.

The 34-year-old also sustained a lung contusion from the incident, so will sit out Round 1 to progress his recovery.

In good news, Horne-Francis and Rioli are set to don Port Adelaide colours in front of home fans at Adelaide Oval for the first time.

Following a highly publicised trade, Horne-Francis has excited fans since landing at Alberton in November, while small forward Rioli has been training at full capacity after missing a pre-season trial match due to illness.

Milestone man Kane Farrell will play his 50th AFL game on Saturday and eager pair Orazio Fantasia and Scott Lycett will make a long-awaited return to the top level, after both players were hindered by injury throughout 2022
The tactical substitute will be named from the emergency group an hour before the 4:05pm first bounce at Adelaide Oval.

Jones over Burgoyne is complete madness. Thought Jase wouldve been a good matchup for Charlie Cameron.

The main surprise/contentious point is the non-selection of Burgoyne. Jones and Farrell being the two “lucky” selections.
Jones VERY ‘lucky’. Farrell not so lucky considering he actually has shown he can play at the level. Burgoyne should be in ahead of Jones on both preseason and last years form. Unusual.

They were always going to play because Ken can't coach but any team with DBJ & Lycett is not serious.

We'll need to wait another year to see Lycett dominate another internal trial and god only knows what DBJ thinks he's doing these days.

The Gold Coat Suns delisted Trent McKenzie at the end of 2017. How lucky is he that Port exists.

Haha Boak on the radio this morning talking about how we have a full squad to choose from and how his Mum will be over for round 1.

Then isn't playing.

Why are we only just finding out about Boak now, I thought we were at full strength. Sick of the smoke and shadows behind the window.

We've now won the game because Brisbane thought Boak was gonna play.
