1st QuarterStarted slowly but worked into the game. Solid first term, dodgy free would have had us lead by more at 1/4 time.
2nd QuarterPlayed first 5mins well, then fell away. Personally I thought the heat was getting to them (heat fatigue easily seen within first five minutes of the match; red faces and arms, breathing)
3rd QuarterGreat fightback, played tough, straight up football, generally wanted it more. King later said "we realised we had our pants pulled down in the 2nd"
4th QuarterStill wanted the ball, faught hard and controlled the game in very tough conditions. It must be hard playing, when there is more water about than oxygen.

What I thought of the players
Steven King- Played solid all night, started well fell away slightly as the game went on (expected in heat)
Tom Harley- Quiet contributor, played his usual good game
David Spriggs- came off the bench, tried hard, got caught a few times. His 1 percenters were great. His shepherd on pike, which just brushed him, then to back up again straight away was great to see.Is it the year off or is he still trying to do too much? Better trying too hard than not enough though!
Ben Graham- Kept his man quiet, marked well, came into his own late in the last (like Stkilda game), when he bombed it long time after time
James Kelly- The nut. Tough that is. I'm surprised he didn't loose his head on more than one occasion. Played on the wing a bit. Prefur him on the ball
Joel Corey- Blinding first term, couldn't buy a kick in the second. Impressed nontheless. If he plays like he did in the first and in patches in the 3rd, will rate highly in the BF and brownlow.
Peter Riccardi- Missing all night!
Will Slade- Little time on the ground. Got caught several times (pace of the game will come to him), but was always in the right possision.
Charlie Gardiner- A few errors, gave up the chase a few times and dropped a sitter. Presented well.
Kent Kingsley- After last year, a little quieter than expected. Will get back to usual self.
Mitchell White-Was with Riccardi.
Steven Johnson- Dangerous faward all night, good goals kicking better than last week
Cameron Mooney-Quiet, still likes to kill people.
Aaron Lord- I thought played well. Did some bullocking work, kicked straight
Brent Grgic- Pfft
Matthew McCarthy- Quiet, as expected. Spent time on bench
Brenton Sanderson- A little quiet but lead well down back.
David Johnson- Played a great game on Aker. Liked his performance alot
Gary Ablett- Hands/mind always doing overtime. Very smart game. Played well in the second half when he came up the ground and followed the ball. Would much prefer to see him up the ground in future.
Matthew Scarlett- Best defender again, was never flustered all night
Jarad Rooke Not alot of time, still learning his role, as are the coaches
James Rahilly- Started well on Aker, then got smashed when he followed him down back. Kick sh it as usual.
Paul Chapman- Had a good crack all night. Did the tough work.
Peter Street- Not as good as last week but still tapped alright. Getting his body into good position in ruck contests, helping taps
Darren Milburn- Like the other defenders played well without being exceptional.
David Wojcinski- Gave away a couple of frees, but played the "follower" well.
Josh Hunt- Take no sh it attitude all night. Stood up to Pike (and would get away with him easily). Got caught in two minds a couple of times, but got out of it.....just.
Corey Enright- Rotated wing/ball (I think) Patchy, but overall good. I had no idea he could kick that far!!

Now from what I can remember, that is my honest view of the players. I might try to stay sobre next time.

Brisbane tried to do the same thing to us as they did to Sydney the week before and put us away in the second quarter. However, to our credit we fought back in the third term by going back to a basic plan which was that if we didn't have the ball, we were not in control of the game. (Alan McConnell said this at 3/4 time) The last quarter was a tough slog in difficult conditions with Geelong finishing over the top of Brisbane.

I thought we tackled and pressured the Brisbane players really well after half time while trying to move the ball on quickly and it paid off.

And I will make this comment right now... Ben Graham is 10 times a better footballer in defence then he is in attack!!

It's hard to get a touch when you aren't playing. :D

I'm assuming we rested Peter Riccardi at this stage of the season because of the travel, humid conditions in Cairns and the six day break from the Bulldogs match.

So in other words, he did a Michael Voss and pulled out due to general soreness.
