Welcome to the Preseason Charity Series
What started out as a small time charity event has overnight morphed into one of the biggest pre-season events on the SFA calendar, as the Fighting Furies embark on their 20th season in the league they look to host the Swamprats and Roys in a round robin warm up for SFA season 22, each club will be representing a charity, with the winning teams charity taking home $300.
This is an opportunity for the teams to try some new positions, work on tactics for the upcoming season and of course give the new recruits a taste of what qooty is all about. A strong first up test for incoming Furies captains Gentlemen & _Cayz_ the furies will also be expecting big things from star recruit akkaps as well as rookies joelsyt, tgrs and Richmondayitis. The Swampies also blooding a new captain Millky95 will be hoping the signing of SM can cover the losses of MannumPower and SpudsLoveChild, whilst rookies sportsmaniac89, Far Kern & ChristopH will be expected to get serious game time. The Roys heading into another season under the tutelage of fitzroybowiedog will be expecting big things from gun signings 3KZ is Football and back to face his old team MannumPower whilst in a surprise move the SFA retirement home will also be bringing a rookie along to the party in the form of Sozabarus.
Of course lets not forget why we are truly here, the idea started as a humble charity series where I would donate $100 on behalf of the winning team, however both Millky95 and fitzroybowiedog have both generously pledged to match the contribution and the idea of the triangle invitational was born.
Each of the teams will be playing for a charity this week so expect a hard and brutal brand of qooty to be played unlike the usual bruise free pre-season warm ups.
The Furies this week are playing for Heart Kids Australia https://www.heartkids.org.au
Heart Kids Australia was born from a group of volunteers looking to provide support to families struggling with caring for or grieving over the death of a child with a heart defect, it has slowly grown into an Australia wide support network and is a charity that has been of great help to myself and my family recently, dedicated to providing support to the families of children with heart disease and also having partnered with leading cardiologists and researchers to assist in reducing the incidence of Childhood Heart Disease and to reduce mortality rates

The Swamprats are representing Beyond Blue https://www.beyondblue.org.au/
Most people especially in the football community would know of Beyond Blue either through the work of former Hawks president Jeff Kennett or via their partnership with Movember.
With over 3 million Australians living with depression or anxiety, beyondblue provides information and support to help achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.
Whilst you may not realise it almost everyone in Australia will know someone suffering from a mental illness and the work of Beyondblue can’t be spoken of highly enough

Whilst the Roys are playing for Face up to DV http://www.geelongcats.com.au/news/2016-03-26/bartel-launches-face-up-to-dv
You may have seen Jimmy Bartel running around football fields looking like a caveman this season and wondered why? Face up to DV is the why. Jimmy recently opened up about his family history with domestic violence (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/vi...p/news-story/608e5949576f43fb3a5f29ea9dc4d76e) the article is a long read but I can’t recommend it highly enough, like with mental illness we have all heard stories or know someone affected by domestic violence and the work of charities like the Luke Batty foundation is crucial in the community.
