The most disappointing thing to me is that Murphy is actually our highest average disposal winner in the SANFL
Other players should be putting his "next up" status in question but they just aren't

I just want to point out that the vast majority of negative comments here about Murphy's election are not in anyway personal about him as a person, he is by all accounts a great guy and a good clubman. Its also not his fault he gets selected in the senior side, its the coach that should be 1000% in the gun so to speak here. Its just that Murphy the player has had so many opportunities and not every really grasped them at AFL level. Good SANFL level player absolutely but there is a big gap between SANFL and AFL.
Why are long sleeves a thing in football but long pants aren't?
Thatās because heās played in the guts for the entire game and the likes of Edwards are shunted into the backlines to work on the ādefensiveā aspects of their game.
And how many touches is Murphyās direct opponent getting?
THIS is the real issue. Our SANFL guys haven't really been demanding selection. Edwards possibly.
Murphy is an experience AFL player so he should be too good for the SANFL level but also has proven to be not good enough for the AFL. Who knows, he might fluke a few goals and be useful but we all know he will turn to shit again.THIS is the real issue. Our SANFL guys haven't really been demanding selection. Edwards possibly.
What would interest me is if they (compared to this board) overrate Murphy, or underrate our young guys? Possibly a combination of bothI would genuinely like to be a fly (the fly) on the wall in the selection panel
How do they come to this decision ?? What metrics are there ?? I know we're all hanging shit on Nicks and thats fine, but he cannot be the only guy on the panel who wants Murphy in.
Hes likely going to play a role with little to no relevance of the role hes played in the SANFL.
It makes less sense than it ever has
Our #4 pick is literally right thereGeez we are light on mids in the SANFL. Hopefully Murphy plays well and gets some midfield minutes. Just tackle and milk frees like JP and we are set.
It would have to be a combo of both. What would interest me is if they (compared to this board) overrate Murphy, or underrate our young guys? Possibly a combination of both
For instance, Wrightās been banging on about Cheddar needing to work on his defensive game
Wow I don't think I've ever seen that on a selection post before. Has to tell you something that even the Facebook brigade is not happy with his inclusion!
Itās really not. The issue is the likes of Edwards and co. are not being given the same opportunities to stat pad.
Not many are id agree, which is surprising given the ladder position they're in.... but surely Edwards has done enoughYeah nah. We're 13 odd rounds in. No SANFL player is really standing out as demanding AFL selection.

Is Draper going to be the non-playing travelling emergency as the cherry on top?Our #4 pick is literally right there

TBF to Smith, he was probably our best performed SANFL player.Smith wasnāt.
Pedlar wasnāt.
Murphy isnāt.
Yet here we are, all 3 playing.
Nope thats BondIs Draper going to be the non-playing travelling emergency as the cherry on top?

Everyone needs to trust the Matthew Nicks process. The guy is a proven winner! He knows!
having a high disposal count means nothing if its garbage, not that I have watched any of murphy's footy. The thing that irks me is he is played in the mid in the 2s, but then comes in as a forward. He is taking up CBA that other younger players who are mids should be taking. Might not mean much, but murphy in the startling lineup over Rash would piss me off if I was Rash. Best month of footy for the club and murphy gets to be the starting half forward. joke. The most disappointing thing to me is that Murphy is actually our highest average disposal winner in the SANFL

Itās Nicks way to justify his selectionhaving a high disposal count means nothing if its garbage, not that I have watched any of murphy's footy. Surely if the team has had to step in like this it shows they're internally aware of the push back.Wow I don't think I've ever seen that on a selection post before. Has to tell you something that even the Facebook brigade is not happy with his inclusion!
you are right, of course it is. I forgot this very factItās Nicks way to justify his selection
