For who? Not an attack just genuinely interested in why or how you can pinpoint 2 weeks when so many things can go right. If , big if , we win by 100 points next week do you make changes? If we win round 3 by 100 do you make unforced changes? Too many variables to look too far ahead. Yes the club will be doing their own fitness assessment and saying '' these guys are tracking well and will be fully right round 2/3 etc'' but to then put them in just because doesn't make sense.

:)

It won't happen but I'd play Milera across half back for now. He is a good size, athletic, can run & carry, makes elite decisions, elite kick, has time & space, and can do the defensive things well too.

He can take VB's spot. Imagine Smith & Milera running off half back .
Plus I think he'd find more of the ball which is his one difficulty at this stage.

He played across half back in the under 18s championships and dominated he just took the game on, gained so many metres and used it well.

It won't happen but the changes I'd make would be...

Out: VB, Mackay, Cheney (unlucky)
In: Knight, Cameron, Hartigan

That would be a bloody nice looking side.
Milera, Knight & Sloane can all spend some time rotating on the wings too.
And I'd give Smith some minutes on ball.
Just make sure Milera and Seedsman are in defense during Smith's stints on-ball.

I explained that in the next paragraph you didn't quote

North and Port will play different defences unless Port change after what happened today.

Watching the replay our forward line was often congested whereas Saints had paddocks.

Our forward line with decent quick delivery should be too much for their defence.

We need to load up with pace and goal kickers. We also need to apply more forward line pressure. Therefore:

In:
Knight
Cameron
Hartigan

Out:
DMack
VB
Cheney

I realise that's two defenders but we can rotate a mid through there to give the defenders a break and I would rather have the extra run and scoring power.

Spot on

Outs: VB, Mackay and McGovern (Don't want him out but he's not best 22 at this stage)
Ins: Knight, Cameron and Hartigan (Knight obvious, Cameron has the x factor needed for the Showdown and Hartigan is that proper third tall we need back and Matty Crouch won't get suspended for that come on)

B: Brown - Talia - Cheney
HB: Hartigan - Lever - Laird
C: Seedsman - B.Crouch - Smith
HF: Lynch - Walker - Knight
F: Betts - Jenkins - Cameron
R: Jacobs - Thompson - Sloane
I: M.Crouch - Douglas - Milera - Atkins

E: Lyons - McGovern - Menzel

Very worried about their midfield. No Danger plus Sloane was ordinary and BCrouch still getting up to the pace.

Gray and Wines could dominate the centre square.

Time for Luke Brown to really step up on Wingard. Need him to deliver.

Posting again now that I've calmed down a bit. I posted it in another thread but tall players are already showing how important they are when players get fatigued. It's always been a factor, but can see this becoming a major factor this season.

With Port having plenty of talls, Hartigan must play. Small defensive player to go out for him means VB is an even more obvious choice to go.

I can't see how anyone can have Mackay ahead of any of Knight, Cameron and Henderson. Regardless of positioning. Chuck Grigg and a handful of others as well.

OUT: VB, Mackay
IN: Hartigan, Knight

Knowing our ****en luck, M Crouch will get done. If that's the case then I prefer Lyons over CEY.

What did the Bounce have to say about it?
Admittedly it was gaze doing the reports so far, but said it clearly hit Waite in the shoulder and he got up and took his kick. Both spud and mooney agreed nothing in it.

They also showed sidebums. At full speed looks ok, but slow mo is ugly.

I'd be seriously underwhelmed if Lyons comes in; he does absolutely nothing for me.

Lynch and Sauce are bloody frustrating players; I feel they both fade away when the pressure is really on, rather than stepping up like true quality.

That aside, I thought MCrouch hit Waite's shoulder and he should be fine.

I'd like Knight IN as a minimum for Mackay; Shaw to replace VB would be a bold move. We rate Shaw enough to give him two years; he's fit and in form - bloody play him.

.
Is this a game where you concede that Gray and Wines will dominate and concentrate on attacking them from the outside ie tell your back flankers to aim for them and stop them or tackle them ?

Perhaps. If we go head to head it will end in tears I fear.

In: Hartigan - should have played last night!!, Cameron - looked ready to me at the SANFL game.
Out: VB - not up to AFL std at this moment of time, Milera -Jnr's time will come, it's just not right now.
Will consider Menzel AND KNIGHT for Aktins or D-Mac, Menz has serious x-factor!
As for Gov, I'd keep him in, bar the finishing did a lot of good things last night.

No knight?

Is there a spot for Atkins with Seedsman in the team? I feel he's probably brushed aside too easily defensively and not quite damaging enough to be playing an unaccountable role at the minute. The same can be said for Mackay and alarmingly VB - who's meant to be a defender - but they're unlikely as ever to be dropped.

Knight and Cameron are both more physical and can close down space faster midfield and forward. Lyons an option if the engine room needs more personnel.

Hopefully M. Crouch doesn't get rubbed out - the Saints midfield dominated Ports in the clearances today, Sauce should dominate Lobbe worse than Hickey did today and give our boys first use. Crouch will rack them up in that situation.
I believe if we can replicate St Kildas dominance in the clearances and subsequently get the quick forward entries we will be in a very good position to win.

Hendo for VB
Hartigan for Cheney
Knight for VB
Menzel for Shooter

I initially said 2-3 games for Hendo however given VB's inept performance Hendo comes straight back in. Hendo has a massive tank and can play HB, Wing or HF

Hartigan's inclusion allows Lever to play as the 3rd tall down back

Knight for DMac is a straight swap and we lose nothing in running power however gain aggression

Menzel for Shooter, I'm not sure that we can get away with playing both Milera and Shooter at this stage and by all reports Menzel got better longer the game went and used the ball extremely well... Bring him in for the big Occassion

Give Charlie one more run in the SANFL side

B. Lever. Hartigan. Brown

HB. Smith. Talia. Laird.

C. Seedsman M. Crouch. Knight

HF. Menzel. Tex. Douglas

F. Lynch. JJ. Betts

1R. Sauce. B. Crouch. Sloane.

Int. Henderson. Milera. Thompson. Atkins.

Emg. Shaw. CEY. Shooter.
