I'm happy with the changes. I'd love to see Mackay out but the fact is that his replacements aren't ready. After seeing Jets/Knight last week in the SANFL, I'm inclined to agree.



Teague on FiveAA: sounds like they are rectifying not selecting that other tall defender which didn't quite pull off vs. North.

Jets/Knight need another SANFL run.

Menzel knocking on the door too.

What does that mean? Rectifying what if they don't think there was a problem against North.

Just relieved sanity prevailed with the selectors. Feel much better going to the game knowing we don't have Cheney playing on a kpp. We should now see him in the role he is most suited.

If Pykey wants some help at selections for the rest of the year I am willing to take a half day off work each Thursday to whizz up to Footy Park and give my advice.

Pretty happy with this selection. Can not see how anyone can be upset this week. Mackay had an ok game (his defensive pressure among our best) last week, certainly not the worst.


With Hartigan in I am a bit more confident now.

VB is 30 this year and running good track times means nothing if you have little to no agility

Following on from today's decision VB should be moved to the "Emergency Break Glass" category with young players given selection preference to provide the scope for opportunity

The coaches have responded to last week at the selection table. VB was our worst player last week. Worst because yes he may have done (barely) more than some kids. But he is a senior player and he was poor for one of our four guys with over 150 games experience Saturday night.

Now we need to players to respond. No undisciplined acts to give Port cheap unearned goals.

I'm fine with Van berlo out, but bringing Hartigan in is pretty clearly a panic move. Bolstering the defence when it was our demonstrably weak midfield that caused the loss isn't really a step forward.

We'll be seeing two bottom 10 sides playing off for little more than pride Saturday afternoon.
