So then you're in the camp that agrees we wasted a first round draft pick on a third tall, instead of on desperately needed midfield talent, when we already had the position well covered by existing players and a smart, good value trade?

Lever is either a third tall or a KPD, people can't pick and choose based on the argument they want to refute.

Not going to give the kid a chance to grow into his body? Right now he's a 3rd tall working towards developing into a KPD if he fills out. You really don't understand development at all do you. No wonder you love your aged plodders.

Oh come on, why does he have to be one or the other? You were arguing earlier that Gibson isn't a KPD based on his size of 189cm, so using your own logic Lever must be a KPD surely?

I really don't know why you are so hung up on placing him in either a 3rd tall or KPD bucket, its just a silly argument to have. Lever will be what he is according to his development both mentally and physically and what is needed for each opponent we come up against.

We need to get match-ups and structure right against each opponent, call them what you like but this is paramount........... calling players 3rd talls or KPD or whatever is just arguing for arguments sake IMO.

That's how he sees the game. Each player selected one week can only be replaced by a near identical player the next. This is how he argues that guys like Wright, Mackay and VB shouldn't be dropped. There's just no one who can replace their exacting characteristics.

Good to see we've returned to a more sensible defensive structure - that said, I'm assuming Lever now plays a bit more of a third tall role, which I prefer him in at this stage of his career.

As bad as VB was last week, he wasn't any worse than Milera. In eras past, we would have kept the more experienced player, backing him in to "return to the form we know he can produce", while Milera hasn't had a chance to prove the level of form he can achieve. I'm glad that philosophy seems to have been reversed to the more sensible strategy of favouring a younger player over an experienced player when they're tied on form.

Hopefully this is a message to the likes of Mackay. Nobody is untouchable. If we're willing to drop VB after one bad game, we'll be happy to drop you after one bad game as well if there is anyone in form waiting in the wings - which there is.

Port are rightly favourites and I suspect they'll win this week, but at least things are slowly moving in the right direction.

Nah, I reckon we'll absolutely thrash them

Feel more confident this week! Should have had this team last week. I believe we would be going into showdown week with 4 points.
Wouldn't mind seeing Knights in the mix but don't know who I would boot, given that Mookay deserves another week based on last weeks performance. Hope he keeps proving us wrong.

Just think... in one week's time we could see:

In: Knight, Cameron
Out: Mackay, Hartigan/Cheney

We're almost to the point where we actually have 22 good players. Not quite enough top end talent sadly but a good starting point.

Spot on.

Soon we will have 22 AFL quality players in the 22 but for 2017 we must trade/draft/develop another 2 top end midfield talents.

There aren't a lot of teams who can say that all 22 players are AFL quality. We may not have the top end talent but I think once we get Knight, Cameron, Menzel and maybe Hampton up and running we will certainly have a very evenly balanced team.

If Cheney and Mackay go out for cameron and knight it will be the exact team i predicted before rd 1. A very good team imo, bar menzel probably our best.

Hope youre right about no rain. Hopefully the wind stays away too. Would be good if its a nice day.
Apparently the rain will be down south and along the foothills. ie nowhere near Adelaide Oval

Hoping Menzel has a stellar game in the SANFL this weekend. Adding cream to that forward line with his inclusion is going to cause some massive headaches for defenders and opposition coaches.

Lynch was the only player who was clearly worse than VB, and Lynch has far more brownie points in the bank and is far more important to the team structure than VB. Nowhere have I suggested that Lynch would, or should, be dropped, despite being a clear WOG for Adelaide last weekend.

Lynch WOG? Worse than VB?

Surely you be trolling, even you for all your demonstrated past poor calls are not that poor a judge.

Another game like last week and he will be knocking the door down. Not far away.
