Port had 9 players on two or more free kicks. Freo had two. Hell, Wines had five. We had 12 as a team. Wild

We won. In spite of some horrific umpiring

Appalling umpiring aside, how strong is Voss? He's got 2 big guys on him and he one-hand rag dolls DBJ (who isn't massive at 76kg, but add some momentum to that and you're pushing at least 90-95kg). Him and Treacy really let you know you're in a game, so physical. Now if they can get Amiss on the same page...

Yeah, I'd agree. Most of them were there (but soft as butter), except the highs. It's not just this game, but Eleni seems spooked by the 'sanctity of the head' and awarded at least 4 highs that were players falling over into the tackler, or high chest fends. As for falling for Rioli's theatrics, the less said the better.

So after a good nights sleep, here are some thoughts.
We need to give worner a qtr in the forward goal square to get that 1st goal monkey off his back, those two misses were absolutely horrendous and seemed to set the tone for the rest of the team to start missing gimmes.
The umps were absolutely terrible, just so many instances of missing free kicks to Freo that would have absolutely changed the game, it can’t be incompetence alone and we need to making more of a fuss with the AwFL.
Ras played a good game, happy for him, hope it starts a good run for him.
for those asking why we let butters run free, we didn’t, JOM was supposed to be on him at those CBAs but just couldn’t do anything about it, Wagner would have been a much better match for a guy who is just too agile for JOM.
Chapman and Banfield gave away too many goals, some of the calls against Chappy were borderline but the ones on Banners were just stupid given the umps were looking for a reason to hand port the ball. Not sure what to do with Chappy, confidence looks shot.

Nothing wrong with it but it’s just not consistent to what we are seeing across the board
The high fend against Omeara was definitely there though

I hope NOD was unwell, because watching him the last couple of weeks in particular has made me sick! I'm over his poor kicking....what is it with him and his sister being such poor kicks? Surely playing at the highest level you can't kick like that?!

I hope sickness was his excuse too because he was pretty average ( his pressure in the last quarter was helpful though )

We have a 5 day break leading into Friday night vs. Brisbane. Will need careful management of players.

That one was all the players. Missed 3 or 4 absolute sodas up to before they completely fell apart for 10 minutes and now there's 40k home fans empowering them to play the best they have in weeks.

Does feel we are on that train where we've been getting more wins than the overall form deserves and are due a very large reality check. Hopefully if that happens its against Dogs with finals locked up.

Up by 5. Gets it absolutely clear about 55m out. Needs game awareness and play on there and at minimum drive a long shot behind. A goal is the bonus. To center it to 30m out is a solid play for 3 quarters but not at that stage of the game. Drive the behind or into the pocket.

Gave away a free inside 50m by reckless attack on the ball.

Also kept ball on the wing to only get tackled and HTB.

Many mistakes.

That was a horrible 2nd quarter. That nearly cost us the game.

I did predict in another thread that if we were gonna win, it would be tight.

I predicted that Port were gonna hang with us for 3 and a half quarters. They did just that.

I also predicted a 3 or 4 goal won. Which wasn't correct but glad we got the win

Expected score was 103-85, so you could consider yourself on the money.

Some other thougts:

• I remained entirely unconvinced Dudley is a best 22 AFL player. His size the most obvious thing but he really isn't clean enough on the ground. He needs Serong level one touch pick ups if hes going to get to 50 games.
• Bruce is a freak, we've never had a player like him
• Best game of Ras's career which sucks when he's getting dropped by finals (or next week).
• Banners is slowly evolving into the HBF version of the HFF Banners. "Sometimes a little bit a good, sometimes a little bit a shit." I would like one Cooper Simpson please
• I dont think I saw Jye on the screen for the first half half. There must be something we do that turns him into the invisible man because I know he works hard.
• Bolton is who Bolton is. Actually one of the worst kicks of the footy you'll ever see but with completely absurd agility, speed and goal sense. He needs to be selfish because the chances of him hitting a target are about 50%.
• If I had to pick someone to have that rumoured illness, it'd be AB, hardly got out of 2nd.
